aivlyS :-S :-S :-S I know nothing whatsoever about stamp collecting. Had a collection when I was young but swapped them for coins :-)

THIS IS MEANT TO BE A JOKE

This thread contains mildness & humility, courtsey & calm, resulting in a charming atmosphere of politeness & conviviality.

I hope I'm on the right thread!

Dermot. As always. you are a Celtic breeze in the midst of disharmony :-D :-D :-D

This was the flimsy red knickers and old goats thread :-D

oh what a shame that the thread has gone back to the spatting thread it was in the beginning.

cant we go back to the goat and Robin the bard :-D

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 10 Jan 2013 20:38

I do hope so, Suzanne. Very difficult for anyone to be angry when you are so indisposed and Brenda is chasing her toy boy round Conwy :-D ;-)

Just noticed about 20 posts have been removed from thread :-( Wasn't it over 970 a couple of hours ago?

MrDaff Report 10 Jan 2013 22:27

What purile little toerag has removed the posts? Why now, and for what reason?
It's pretty obvious that the 'whomever' prefers anonymity to honesty, but personally I'd appreciate a PM with the good reason(s) for their actions - it's not as if this thread is 'new'.
:-| :-| :-|

Of course, if it's to stop SC getting to the 1,000 - not a chance! 'One Step at a Time' is not at all difficult ......

:-P (why isn't there a vertical pokey finger emicon on here???)

Rambling

Rambling Report 10 Jan 2013 22:34

Mr Daff, the toerag was me.... I made a comment earlier, that most people had read, however I got really annoyed at a response to it and decided 'what the hell, if my reasoned argument is criticised when other snipey remarks remain, i shall take my thoughts off and keep them to myself in future'.

Sue ( amongst others) had read my post so I think will confirm that it was not nasty to anyone, just my opinion.

It was not done to cause offence, rather to avoid it if I lost my temper which I was close to doing ! I certainly did not intend to do Sue out of her post count, so my apologies for that, I am sure it can soon be made up by others.

Rambling Report 10 Jan 2013 22:41

Also, the thread was going back to the sniping, bloody uncomfortable atmosphere that had largely been moved on from... I'd rather it died the death than that it should continue in that vein.

but again my apologies to you and Sue, and others who may have been upset or inconvenienced by my inability to suffer fools ( and hypocrites) gladly. I can't and won't pretend to like someone just because friends do...it isn't in me, the best I can manage is to walk away and kick the cat ( not literally).

SueMaid Report 10 Jan 2013 22:44

I'm also a "purile little toerag". I wrote a couple of comments in support of the person who seems to have dominated this thread. I received a smart a**e comment in return so I deleted.

JustGinnie

JustGinnie Report 10 Jan 2013 22:45

Rose, your comment that some agreed with, myself included, was fine.More than one of the responses I can understand you feeling annoyed at , it may be the same one that I almost replied to but then deleted as I don't wish to get involved with an argument on here with someone I don't know.

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 10 Jan 2013 22:52

Best to keep it funny, I guess. Or attempted funny. We all enjoyed it a lot more when comments were light and frilly.

I was sorry when SueM took my comment to be smart-assed rather than highly witty and provocative. But we have hardly ever seen eye to eye since I started posting - so not at all surprised. :-( :-(

I too am a toerag!!! I really didn't see it as a big deal in any way - I certainly didn't delete to upset anyone at all, just felt that as I no longer wished to contribute to this thread for reasons mentioned previously, that I would start deleting my contribution - did not think it would even be noticed

by the way MrDaff, I do not take offence :-)

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 10 Jan 2013 23:05

MrD. Best start a toerag thread. Promise I won't contribute.

My dad's Welsh, as is my granny. I finally visited in 2009 to see the houses they lived in, I'd been looking forward to this for so long. Sheer hell. First to Aberkenfig, a village near Bridgend where I was pelted with stones by kids in the churchyard - this was on a Sunday! Then to nearby Brynmenyn where a mad woman told me to get off her street (I didnt even have my camera out, I had asked for directions and she took offence to my English accent.) Then onto Newport, a grim bus station if ever I saw one, narrowly avoided being vomited on by passing drunks. My Welsh family say that the Welsh are quick enough to moan and whinge about injustices but need to clean their own country up.

OMG Rebekah, That reception was unforgivable , unfortunately there are some extremists in some areas , please don't tar all the Welsh with the same brush.

I hope your experience hasn't put you off all the Welsh :-(

Sensible comment of the day from our local junior schoolteacher:

JustJohn Report 11 Jan 2013 08:25

Rebekah. Agree with you about Newport. Of the 3 major cities, it has not yet been "done up" and does need to be revamped somewhat. There are very smart villages nearby and some suburbs are very smart.

I guess the other incidents could happen anywhere. Kids in a cemetery on a Sunday. Staggering, but it happens. Old mad women - well!!!!

A chap came staggering towards me yesterday in Cardiff. Dressed like my avatar with a stick in his hand. So Welsh looking and sounding. Thick Valleys accent. Yelling at top of voice: "I am Welsh. I am not English". Fortunately he went on his way and avoided waving the stick at me. Harmless probably, and that seems to happen in every city.

I truthfully think you were extremely unlucky. The residents of Brynmenyn and Aberkenfig would be very embarrassed. There are plenty of folk with English accents living very happily in both villages. :-) Hope you give us another chance. :-)
