back in several hours :-D

keep safe.

It was horrid living through what happened in Vancouver .............. but I hear on our news that sane-minded Londoners (and elsewhere) are now coming out and trying to protect property.......... that's exactly what happened here.

It is mindless greed Sylvia.

Designer glasses are sought after.

Have just heard that the friend in Catford had the whole of his shop front taken off. It is boarded up tonight and he hopes to open to open for business tomorrow.

Gee

Gee Report 9 Aug 2011 18:25

LK I hope your shop will be OK, but at least you are safe

I hope we dont have more of this mindless stuff tonight

TootyFruity Report 9 Aug 2011 18:26

Oh LK that is really scary for you and your friends.

I think these hooligans give young people a bad name which is a shame when there are many more who are horrified about this behaviour. From reports I've heard the riots seem to be greed motivated.

Just watching the One Show and how heartening to see the residents of the affected areas in London and other places coming out en masse to help in a giant clean up. There they are with their brushes and shovels and binbags. Great stuff!

We are in for a dreadful day weather wise tomorrow apparently. Lots and lots of rain. Deep joy.

Gee

Gee Report 9 Aug 2011 19:40

Hopefully London will have lots of rain and keep the thugs off the street....

The grass and plants need some rain Cyns.....the council grass is looking very yellow at the moment

Oooh and the farmers need rain or else our veg price goes up!

David Cameron............ "I am granting the Metropolitan Police emergency powers to use water cannons, rubber bullets and tear gas to take back control of our streets from these ponsing, stealing, parasites . In addition I am deploying the British Army as a visible presence to provide the authority that is so very lacking.". ...

.Carlsberg don't do Prime Ministers but if they did... :-)

Gee

Gee Report 9 Aug 2011 20:33

You always have my support Renes

....but not when it comes to Cammers!

Gee

Gee Report 9 Aug 2011 20:36

Renes there is nothing on the BBC to substantiate that comment from the PM?

If I was being a bit right wing, I might say impose a curfew, but rubber bullets kill people

TootyFruity

TootyFruity Report 9 Aug 2011 21:44

You're welcome Renes

The rioters should be ashamed of themselves. The Government should be ashamed of themselves for not being strong and sending in the water cannons and the Army to support the police. What kind of message are they sending out?

I admit to being a supporter of corporal punishment because since it was removed of the Isle of Man statute books crime has increased. I can remember walking home in the early hours of the morning in complete safety, now I worry when my son is out because sometimes things kick off.

When you is as old as me -----

You will know never to say any PM/Govt is the best ---- or even good

simply because experience has taught me

They are all PANTS !!!!!!!

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 9 Aug 2011 22:10

I totally agree Renes....

Completely PANTS the lot of em...Every promise in the world till they get in power and then backslide on most of them, specially the ones that dont help them get greater wealth or power .....

In fact I think ALL politicking is PANTS... :-P

But Im a Tory through and through...Labour just turned this country into a nanny state...No discipline now,all gone down the drain with the water from the cannons..

Up the Camerons...

Bring back Maggie I say...She took no nonsense....

Crackered now...~~~~~~~~~~~

busy day tomorrow

morning ......... meeting with our financial advisor and his assistant to discuss how our investments are doing

afternoon ............... to the family doctor to get the results of the biopsy

I do know that they have received the results

.............. got home this afternoon (Tuesday) from physio to find a message on the answer machine.

"This is xxxxx from the Health Clinic. With regard to some reports that we have in. Dr xxxx will be glad to see you at 1 pm today [Tuesday]. If you can't make it, she will see you at 9:00 am tomorrow [Wednesday]"

Minor panic!

It was about 4:45, clinic usually closes at 4:30 pm. Tried phoning just in case.

Someone answered, had to "hold". Finally she said, we realised that you already have an appointment, so don't worry, come to that appointment!
