Doesn't breakfast smell good when someone else is cooking? Thanks Sylvs.

PacMan! On my! My son used to have PacMan - was the system called Atari? Yep.....little man who had a big mouth! Quite a few of them about!

When my son was out with his mates, I used to sneak on the computer for a game and got quite hooked. Little did I realise that in 20 years I would be a complete computer addict! :-D

Fresh and breezy here this morning. Off to the doc for OH's annual checks and I just know he is going to ask her some questions which I could answer.....if you know what I mean....he just prefers someone in a uniform telling him. sigh ...

Back later ~~~~

Ive been doing some research on the area where I live and my road during the 1911 census

We live at the top and our house was built after the 1911 but the terrace houses at the bottom were there

Ive printed off lots of info for my family history file so that future generations can get a feel of the place

The terrace houses had occupants with occupations such as: solicitors, doctors, business men and tax men! It must have been quite posh but odd to think they lived in terraced homes!

Cynthia Report 8 Aug 2011 13:11

Terraced homes don't have to be rundown type/cheaper of property Gins.

It could well be that the area was affluent at the time.

I read this from Wiki:

The terrace house has housed different parts of the social spectrum in western society. Originally associated with the working class, in modern times, historical and reproduction terraces have been widely associated with the process of gentrification.

So the solicitors and doctors were going up in the world :-D

All went well with the nurse this morning though his cholesterol is a bit up!
He reckons he needs to drink more red wine to bring it down again.....huh!

Got the ironing to look forward to now...

:-D

Renes I am 110 and the last house on the 1911 is 87. After 87 it turns into town houses and then to semi and detached the further up the hill you get

I think mine was built about 1920, we're the first semi on the hill

I am here. I have just got back from my day of home visits. We had to cancel the last few as we were in New Cross and about to head into the congestion zone when the rioting kicked off. We also had a repair to do in Lewisham. We saw SPG vehicles heading into Lewisham and could hear more. Managed to get home a roundabout route but so worried. The Pekham fire is where daughter and OH sometimes works. The practice is owned by close friends. The fire has now spread to Greggs and thepractice is next door but one to it. You can see the green shutters in the footage. Their other practice is in Brixton where several buildings were burnt down last night within a hundred yards of the shop. Younger daughter's OH was in Birmingham City centre when it kicked off there. :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

The Electoral Roll for each year will tell you who was living in the house and of voting age

Means a visit to the local library though ;-)
