Bet that one wasnt leaked to the press Renes...I would follow it up further, you are entitled to it...

Ginny.
It was the same when Mr Blair was in power....Nothing changes except the man at the Helm.

Cyn
Yes it does,it can affect the rent payments...They still pay it but it has to be done differently as in more forms..
Also they could make HID "sign on"for Jax if they are out and out determined that they are cohabitating..
It comes in at less money if they are classed a couple...

I know these things, not all of em but that one I know... :-P

I'm not that bothered if he gets anything or not as if he did'nt live here I would still have to pay all the bills and food...but I would need someone to come in a help with stuff which he does.

I would follow up that cheque too Renes if it was for you...thieving baskets!!

Gee Report 29 Jul 2011 18:47

Ja..x try not to worry as it is only a procedure, they are doing it to everyone.

And you have history of posting on here that says you are NOT a couple...show them!!!

Before long we will all be sent to the gulags :(

Ah...Stalin, he was such a pussy cat!

Renes Report 29 Jul 2011 19:10

Yes I will

it was just after over five months of not hearing I did not want a cheque turning up in Pauls name

I will follow it up ----- I wrote twice to tell they were using the wrong code -- within the tax year relevant so as it could come as a refund in Euros from pension providers --------however they denied this

Until 3 months after tax year ---- headline money mail ---- 50,000 pensioners overcharged tax -- I was in that lot --

I will get the partner in my old accountancy firm -- to put the proverbial rocket up their aspects ------------

With my interest on the debt ---------

Although I still cannot pay in a sterling cheque until I come to UK and open a sterling account --- will probably end up giving a nominee

Bah Hamburg --------------twas not like this in my day

That sounds like the right thing to do Renes - you would not want to break your very strong ties with the village, I am sure.

Just take your time to make the right decision for 'you'.

I had a VAT inspection about 8 months ago Renes and they owed me a few pence!

But, if he had submitted the return as me owing thousands more than I do, that would have ##### me up....as you know, the return is sacrosanct

If you come back to the UK....help, my new accountant x

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 29 Jul 2011 21:12

Don't get me started on accountants. When I retired 7 years ago I asked my accountant to prepare my final accounts which, because of my trading year end, represented 16 months trading. He sent me his bill which was in 3 parts, the first covering the full trading year, the second part covered the final 4 months trading, the third, his fee for submitting my tax return form (Pre signed) when due. I paid his bill immediately and thought no more about it, just expecting to be notified by him in due course how much to send to the Inland Revenue.

I heard nothing from him and when I went to his office it was empty, according to his neighbours apparently he had done a moonlight flit. I contacted the Inland Revenue to ask them if they could advise me what, if anything, I owed them only to be told that they had not received my tax return and that I had already incurred a penalty for a late tax return.

Fortunately he had enclosed my final accounts with his bill so after I received a duplicate tax return form I was able to complete that myself and submit it, albeit late, but I still had to include the late payment penalty along with what I owed them.

Accountants are worse than bankers (or something sounding like that).

Jonesey!! - that reminds me of my working days when I would take groups abroad, sometimes travelling by coach from England, from a Company in the Nottingham (Worksop) area- the drivers were wonderful!!! but quite often they would come across someone who was driving badly and would always say - 'Well there's another one from Newark (another place in Nottingham area) !

Think about it ! - Newark -make an anagram !!

I think that is the same one that you were thinking of ???

Jonesey Report 29 Jul 2011 22:01

Renes,

Perhaps I ought to have said, "Most but not all accountants come from Newark"

P.S. You are talking about things about which I have no knowledge. If I did know about such things I wouldn't have engaged the services of an accountant.

Gin,

Aren't the Kwana a tribe of Venezuelan canoe builders? I thought that Dea lived in the West Midlands
