Hi all
xxx

I was sure I had posted after Reece's story, to say how sorry I was that she had been conned, and what an awful experience it is to lose your trust.

But it isn't there???

ah well .......... I've had several posts go into the ether and not appear!

Sue .....re "your" music playing. My idea was that you do it after the boys have gone to bed and are asleep, but at a normal time for everyone else!

Good deal on getting your computer repared C

OH took his computer in on Friday, he was at a bit of a loose end through the weekend without it!

He has one of those gadgets for uploading slides onto the computer, and ti wasn't working as it should. He took that in to our GoGoGeek guy. They found the gadget was fine, so it had to be the computer.

It seems that spring might be on its way here ........ being very cautious about it. But I did wear a short sleeved top on Saturday! Back into long sleeves on Sunday and today though

Take care

Sorry to hear about your friends husband - best not to tell her - they did that with one of my great aunts - they didn't tell her my nan (her Sister-in-law) had died as it woudl have upset her too much.

We still added her on tot he birthday & Christmas cards, but she didn't stay with us much longer herself. We had a real time of it we lost 12 close relatives in 6 years it was horrible & then missed a year - then I had to have both my dogs put down & lost my mum a year after that. No wonder I ended up with high blood pressure. It was a very trying time.

Oh nearly forgot - John moved in with me as well the week after I lost my mum - a very trying time - 19 years later we are still together - the longest either of us has ever been with anyone. We will have been married 13 years this year.

Didn't win the lotto - but never mind - will still keep trying.

Strange weather today - poured this morning - now the sun is out - that means the grass will grow & grow. Must shove the OH out with the mower.

I see our Evelyn is poorly again looking at her Mums thread & she still has her fingers crossed till 5 April.

What did you blow your 12p on Cynthia?

Well i have been given a pay rise it works out to £40 a year once tax has been taken off - thats 76p a week - bit better than Cynthia trying hard to think what i am going to do with all that extra cash. I may just save it & buy an extra couple of lines on the lotto each month or a scratch card to see if I can increase the money.

Well i have a meetin to go to this afternoon & a report to finish in less than an hour - my last day looking after the job - will be sad to leave it as i really liked it. I have to hand it back tomorrow & go back to my own job - which i have also been doing bits of at the same time.

Tomorrow i have most of the morning doing the hand over, a meeting at 11 and then another meeting at 3. I can see I am going to get a lot done tomorrow as well.

Take care all

FRANK06 Report 29 Mar 2011 21:32

Hi all,

Still working away on the bedroom.
Windows painted inside and out as well as the door and skirting boards.
I also had to do a second coat of paint on the ceiling and cornices to cover up the pink and grey.
While up the ladder with a ten litre tub of paint, I kept worrying that I might knock it over but nothing happened.
Then, when I was standing on the floor painting the door with a tiny pot of primer ....... I manged to drop it!!!
Didn't make any real mess as it's quite thick (no comments please) but just plopped out like a big mushroom, thank goodness.

Once the ceiling had dried I started the wallpaper which is just a white superfresco vinyl which will allow me to paint in order to change colour schemes instead of having to strip wallpaper and start again.
With the forthcoming beech coloured laminate flooring we will have a very bright but blank canvas to let my OH loose on.
Lilac / purple for the duvet and similar colourings for the pictures and nicknacks.
We are stuck with our light grey furniture for the time being, but that goes fine just now and we can move it on to the spare bedroom at a later date.
So that's us halfway through...... get the rest of the papering done next weekend.

Then I'll be off to B&Q to pick up some laminate flooring.

Now then Cynthia, how on earth did you manage to blow your half a crown pension rise without noticing it.
I can remember when 2/6p would last a whole week, blah, blah, blah........................

Sorry Anne, you're probably to young to remember the pre decimal days when we all worried that the prices would keep going up ???????????

.......... or perhaps not ;)

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 30 Mar 2011 13:24

I was at junior school when the decimal days were upon us - i can still convert back as well and a 10 bob note was great to get for your birthday.

I once bought a New Agatha Christie paperback at Smiths for 2/6p with some of my birthday money - i still have that book on my bedroom shelf now. Bit different to going to Waterstones today - £6.99 for the same paperback. Talk about inflation.

Frank no wonder we haven't seen you on here for a while.

Well its very drizzly here today and a little chilly back to the grey old days.

I am back to my old job and time for a lunch break today - i feel redundant.

There is a job I really want to go after its only a 10 month secondment - trouble is do i go for it or face rejection again - as i think they already have someone in mind they want - its doing my head in again.

Will i never learn

Well back to the internet and looking through the new book listings.

Take care all

Hi Everyone

Cynthia what sad news for you I am so sorry about your friends.

Good friends are so hard to find and as we get older we loose them.

We have just got back from a trip away for a few days ,we thought we would not hang around over the weekend just incase of another party started up and we are so stressed with not knowing if we are going to get sleep this weekend .
We slept lovely in the motel rooms we stayed at and it was nice just to get away with just each other.

I think they may be on the move after last Fridays party, the owners of the house that I contacted were very sad to hear of all we have been through and I am hopeing that they will tell the realestate agent to get them out.

Frank you sound very busy,I am waiting for the cool weather to get here so I can start my painting.
It is still hot and going on a bit to long for all of us ,

Anne just go for the job and have confidence in yourself ,you may get it anyway.

I am off shopping today ,Easter Egg time again.

Frank......our little handyman.....you're back! Sorry about guffawing when I read that you dropped the paint pot!

The colour scheme you have in mind is similar to that of my daughter's room.......there are some lovely things in those shades at Dunelm Mill shops....just let your wife loose there...........she'll have a wonderful time.

Anne, nothing ventured nothing gained! At least you will have tried. Who know? Perhaps you will impress them more than the one you they have in mind!! Think of it as good experience rather than rejection though.

Do hope you get your noisy neighbour problem sorted soon Sue...very distressing.

My friend's husband's funeral is next Wednesday so I am making arrangements to be able to go and sit with her whilst the funeral is taking place. I do miss her and keep wanting to pick up the phone to tell her this and that.......and then I remember! :(

Hopefully a nice day here........washing machine going like the clappers!

Take care all. Cx

if I clear my cache/browsing history, do I lose all my favourites and have to set up the passwords on them all again?

Thank you. You may now resume stripping the walls. ~~~~~~~~

Hi all
xxx

it was a lovely day today .... sunny, blue skies, and warm. It got up to about 13C

the rain we had been promised slipped a bit southward, so Washington and Oregon got wet instead of us :))

Unfortunately, Josie, I think Christchurch and its problems have completely slipped off the front pages. I haven't seen anyhting about the area for at least 10 days.

It's all Japan, or Libya, or somewhere else in the Middle East.

OH is finally painting the kitchen. He's got some gloss to do now ............ painting the walls around the stove and the sink and back splash over the counters with gloss coloured the same as the rest of the walls, and then there's white gloss on door frames, baseboards etc.

Do hope he doesn't spill any of that. The matte or semi-gloss wipes off counter tops and floor, but gloss ...................................

Also ........... he's going to have to move the stove out, so I'll have to keep my fingers crossed that he doesn't rip the new lino, as he did when he moved the fridge.

Take care everyone

Cynthia Report 1 Apr 2011 09:00

Hi Josie, good to hear from you. I agree with Sylvia, Christchurch has slipped onto a backburner unfortunately probably because of the tsunami in Japan etc.........my OH is fed up with watching the news because it's all so gloomy.

When you have more time, let us know how things are going out there if you feel up to it.

Sounds like your OH could do with our Frank to help out Sylvia.....oh no...that wouldn't help because Frank definitely spills paint.

I'm hoping to have our bedroom decorated this year. Memo to self......lure OH into DIY shop to browse through wallpaper. He needs some excitement in life.....lol

Grey day here but only ironing to do so I'm quite happy with that.

Love to all. Cx

Hi Everyone

We have just got home from the Daughters house, her Oh is doing his own Brickpaving so we thought we would give him a hand with compacting sand and getting it all level.

It is a very latge area so we are off again tomorrow to start laying bricks ,it would be perfect if it was a little cooler.

They are telling us on the weather that we may have some showers on Thursday ,I hope they are right we really do need some rain .

We still get a little on New Zealand over our neck of the woods but the Japan earthquake has taken over and the upset in Libia is on a lot .

Cynthia your OH is correct there is too much doom and gloom on the news,it is depressing to watch.
I am really looking forward to William and Kates wedding, that should brighten up everyone for a while.

Better get some food on for his lordship ,talk again later.

Cant wait for Evelyns mother to show up,only a few days to go.

Cynthia Report 3 Apr 2011 18:59

Hope you haven't given yourself a hernia doing all that brickpaving Sue! You should send for Frank as he can turn his hand to anything it seems.

A real mixture of sunshine and showers here today......Mothering Sunday. I had some nice pressies and cards from my two so that was lovely and I'm very grateful.

The excitement for tomorrow is a vist to the dentist....but I really don't mind that at all. What a life.....lol

It will be good to know if Evelyn's mother is on the census and it will be lovely for Evelyn to get to the bottom of this mystery. Here's hoping!

Take care all. Cx.

My word, it's all go!!

Oh, I do hope that Evelyn gets to the bottom of the mystery tomorrow.

Hey Sylvia,

We guys don't celebrate Mother's Day, we leave that to the wummin ;)

Absolutely shattered but that's the bedroom wallpapered so just the laminate flooring to do now.
Ran out of wallpaper paste so I had to walk over to our local Homebase this morning, then just as I was getting going again, the noisy grandaughter appeared with her mum and dad for a Mother's Day visit so I had to stop and amuse her or should I say, be amused............ she's got two teeth now and still slabbering.
I think they are queuing up to come through.

Anyway, my legs are aching with all that climbing up and down ladders but the electric blanket is on so a quick cup of tea and zzzzzzz.

Night all.

By the way Cynthia, no clearing your history etc won't clear out your favourites but some of your passwords may require re-inputing.

Ccleaner..........

Hi Everyone

A few sore parts today ,it was really hot yesterday and it took it out of us all while doing the brick paving but it was alot of fun as well.
My OH and I remembered when we were young and did all our work ourselves around the house,we did save a lot of money that way.

Can't wait to see if Evelyns mother shows up in the 1911 census, she does have a very good following helping out ,good on you ladies for being such good friends....we are a licky lot on here.

Still hot today but hoping the rain will come on Thursday as predicted.

I use ccclean all the time ....not to much of a problem with the re entry of the passwords.

I see my eye spec next Friday hopfully the glucoma has not done too much damage to my sight.
I would not like it if I could not see the keyboards to well,I may as well give myself a bullet if I can't do my genealogy any more.

Going to see my Grandson now he has been away working for a few months really missed him.

Catch you all later.

Tabitha Report 4 Apr 2011 13:58

Hope the visit to the op goes well Sue - its a horid thought - bad enough when i had my ops and wasn't allowed on a computer.

I shouldn't agree with the bullet - but I would hate it if i couldn't do my family tree any more - mind you - no-one to leave it to - so once we are gone it will probably be thrown in the skip.

How depressing after all our hard work - by the time we go everything will be on the net so they won't need our info - even more depressing

Looking forward to tomorrow - to see if Evelyn gets her wish & finds her mum - don't know who is more excited her, FBG or Ginny.

I have offered to start the betting on who gets on SP first and who comes up with all the info first as well.

Won't it be wonderful if Evelyn can get her mum sorted - there must be so many people sitting with their fingers crossed - no wonder we can't type any more.

Lovely day here sunny & cold

Reading the Book thief at the moment - very strange book - but thought provoking - great if you find it in a charity shop - well worth paying for

Frank - well done - you should feel very proud

Hope the physio goes well Sylvia

Hope the dentist isn't too bad Cynthia

Take care all - back to work i go

no need to go back to the dentist for another 6 months

Boy, did it ever rain today. I got really wet going to the dentists ............... I take 2 buses, neither bus stop has any shelter nearby.

and ti was cold ....... it didn't get over about 5C

The nearby mountains got snow while we were getting the rain ............ needless to say people are very happy about that because it means the local ski season will go on longer than usual!

Never mind - was going to bring out the bubbly

Looks like Diane Leslie Mcleod (excuse spelling) is going to remain one of lifes mysteries.

I have a few of those

Emma Sophia Bourne
Thomas Saul Hancock
Cordelia Penfold
Elizabeth Cole
My parents

Just to name a few - lots of great mysteries - oh for the use of a time machine - just for a few days - I would be so dizzy - but boy would I have a few answers too.

I would love to know how to knock down these brick walls and see what happened.

Well we can't have everything we want can we - Its what seems to keep us going - well keeps me going anyway - just in case i find a website with the answers.

Oh well sad grey day today - fingers still crossed Evelyn - hoping FBG will find the answer

Take care all
