Hi Everyone

As usual the sun is beamimg down on us again ,so sick of it now and can't wait for winter to arrive.

We are very worried about Japan and all that fallout around the region, they say we are too far away but there are plenty of other countries it could do damage to.
It is heatrbreaking to watch all those people that have lost there homes and family members,it make me really look forward to the Royal weddding something nice for a change.

My OH is quite interested in the Genealogy and does not mind me buying certs and all the memberships I have with dif sites ,I sometimes feel a little bit guilty though.

Frank can you tell me why my Spellcheck just disapeared from up the top of my page ,I just don't understand...I run Windows XP Home addition.
I have looked on the internet but can't seem to find another on to downlaod ....the other one was so easy to use.

I am cooking a roast Pork tonight ,god knows why I am doing it on such a hot day and I have just finished the ironing.

Sylvia your outfit sounds lovely,I hope you have a wonderful time at the ball,I love to dance but alas the OH has two left feet

Reece I hope you too have a great night at the concert.

Back to the kitchen.

Sparkly Sylvia - have a fun time at the Opera ball - is it going to be one like the Phontom of the Opera has - I can still remember that scene now.

Bit of a grey day here today

Too busy to eat at the moment - but not lost any weight - shame

I love Roast Pork with all the crackling - Yummy

I think my favourite has to be Lamb with crispy skin - haven't had any for ages far too expensive for just the two of us to have a nice leg ot shoulder of lamb.

My OH hasn't got my access for the certs - he is doing further back than the certs.

Must run

Take care all

Hi all
xxx

OH has somewhat of an interest in genealogy ...... but wouldn't do any of it for himself!

This "ball" is more like a dinner dance than a ball ..... people don't get quite as fancily dressed as the ball in The Phantom!

What happens is that the tables are arranged in a semicircle around the edges of the stage of the theatre that is used for the student opera productions. There are usually about 10-12 tables, each for 10 people. We are all seated, and then members of the company entertain us before and during dinner with various musical events, usually arias from operas (nothing too "deep"), but there may also be something lighter (such as West Side Story).

I can tell you that sitting literally in the middle of the whole company belting out some of the songs can be almost deafening ............... and they are not miked! It's amazing the power that most of them have!

After dinner, one of Vancouver's favourite band leaders and his ensemble take over and play for dancing. He is 93 (!), and has had his own band constantly since about 1936. It's really Big Band music ..... and we all just love it (and him).

He looks about 60-something!

I don't dance, can't, but I love just watching people ..................... but OH does. In fact, he's often pulled out on the floor by some of the girls from the company!

This time, we had filled the whole table of 10 with friends ..... we know them all. Unfortunately one couple had to pull out this morning, the husband has been fighting pneumonia for some time, and just isn't well enough to attend. They have been replaced by 2 of the guys from the company ................. the man who plays the piano for all rehearsals and one of the students. Both good fun, according to OH.

So I am really looking forward to it!

Tomorrow, our friends from the Island want to visit with us before we all go to the funeral of my ex-boss.

Hope you enjoy the dance Sylvia and that all goes well with the funeral. Quite a mixture of events you have there.

Sue, you can have our winter and welcome to it. I love to watch spring coming with the daffodils and other spring flowers blooming.

Anne, will you ever stop rushing around? Mind you, do it whilst you can.....the inability to rush comes upon you quite suddenly!!

Had a lovely surprise today when we received a present from a friend. They have been poorly and asked if we would mind receiving our Christmas present at Easter. Lovely person whose condition I think, is terminal....:((

My poorly friend's husband is now in the same hospital as she is, having suffered a stroke yesterday. I'm going to vist her and possibly him if time allows, tomorrow afternoon. Sometimes it never rains but it pours!

Beauty sleep time is calling so will be on my way.

Night friends.......Cx.

Hope to get a wave from him soon......:)

Good to see you around again Robert but I can't promise to behave unfortunately............. :))

Busy day. Have been to see my poorly friend who is a little better but still rather confused. Her husband had a stroke last week and they are both in the same hospital. Their two sons are going to have to make some tough decisions in the near future.

Love to you all.....Cx

Hi Everyone

One hell of a weekend I can tell you.

Boys nextdoor had a nother party friday night 3.30 it was still going so called the Police again .
They were there in 10 minutes, all was quiet from them on ...just waiting for the next one .
Saturday I got a Migraine the first one for about 9 months ,I am beginning to think they may trigger off with Stress, so that did me for the weekend .
Still have a sore head but the pain is gone .

Cynthia so sorry for your friends Hubby, the family must be thinking what they have done to deserve all this.
My prayers to them for a speeding recovery.

Evelyn I am still watching your thread on your mother ,can't wait for that 1911 Scotish Census,I do hope it gives you something to go on.

Our weather is still warm but I sence that the season is about to change,it has been a very long hot summer almost 5 months this time,it gets you down being so hot so long.
I think the OH will be glad too when the cooler weather comes along then we can winge about the cold .

Better get dinner started ,T bones tonight my favorite.

Oh for a bit of warmth - we have the Sun not the heat now.

So sorry to hear about your friends what an awful thing to happen at any time - but both at the same time - would suggest Oscar Wilde if it wasn't so tragic.

Well busy busy busy as usual - so busy I worked through lunch by accident on Friday - at least taking 30 mins today sort of

So Friday worked through lunch - left an hour early - jumped in the car - OH & I rushed rounf the shops - rushed home for dinner & eat around 6:30. Got up in a rush on Saturday - no time for Breakfast - dashed off to work fro 7am - worked till 2 (had a few bikkies) Then OH collected me at 2 and we motored off down the M23/M23/M11 to Essex as staying with the in-laws for the night. We arrived just after 4 - it was a quiet journey

We had to wait for my S-in-L to arrive - so we went for a meal around 6pm - nearly 24 hours without a meal - OH & I were a bit niggly but didn't really want to eat then either - went out for chinese - have to admit it did not sit well with me at all, all night - we went back in the car to the In-laws for the evening & then off in the car to the S - in - laws for the night - she wanted to chat so we were still up at 11.

Bad night - could not get comfortable - so up & about at 6am - breakfast at 8am then we left in the car for the in-laws at 10am - chat to them & off to lunch at 12 noon. We left them at 1:45 & were back off down the motorway & home by 3:45. Unpacked by 4 and flopped - have to admit I missed some of NCIS as fell asleep.

Think i may sleep well tonight -

Beautiful day out there - jut needs a bit more heat.

Nice to see Robert & Evelyn back - What has happened to Frank

Sylvia - hope you had a fab time

Susan - sorry you had more trouble - & a Migraine - go on - give them some Rock & roll when they are asleep - put a speaker outside the window & let rip - get your neighbours to join in.

Well must go i have a conference call to join in to.

Don't rush around too much - its not good for you - he he he

Take care all

Hi all
xxx

rainy today for the first day of Spring!

Sue ..... suggestion for you.

Get out your tape deck, cd player or even the radio.

Find some OPERA or 50s / 60s music ............. and play at full pelt, starting at around 8 am

Do warn your other neighbours first ..................... of course, they may want to add to the noise.

:))))))

Poor Sue.....do hope that your neighbour problem gets sorted soon. Had to laugh at Sylvia's suggestion though. When I am in the car and a car pulls up next to blaring pop music full blast, my hand automatically reaches out to turn up Classic fm..full volume. Love it!!

Anne, you're gonna have an ulcer if you keep rushing around the way you do............hope a calmer week is ahead for you.

Have had a problem with the battery charger connecting to my laptop.....took it to PCW and the cost of repair.....£220!! On yer bike!
Am taking it to a friend who is into computers to see what he says.

Had better nip for a shower before another busy starts......

Love to all....Cx

Susan Report 23 Mar 2011 08:50

Hi Everyone

I will try your sugestions ladies the only trouble is they always play up in the early hours of the morning so I think I could get some complaints myself.

Good point doing it at 8am though.

Cynthia I always ask my son in law first about computers as he will not let me get ripped of ,there are a lok of shady people out there that take advantage of people our age.

The weather is warming up again here, thought it may start to cool off a bit but no such luck.
I don't think it is too far away though.

Have you all been following the UN's bombing of Libya, I hate that Gaddafi he is such a cruel man and too his own people too,as always it is all about money and the oil.
There seems so much unrest all over the world at the moment and put that together with Japan's troubles.

I had better get dinner started before the OH comes home, catch you all later.

Another beautiful day but apparently it is going to get colder for the weekend!

The concert was very enjoyable - Bach, Schutz, Arvo Paart, Mozart, Ave verum Corpus and Pergolesi, Stabat Mater.

Anne, slow down, please! I think you secretly enjoy the challenge though! Yes, look forward to those lovely hotelsand a nice break away from the hurly-burly of the office.

I was actually "conned" this morning on my doorstep! The bell rang and I was washing up so grabbed a towel, drying my hands as Isailed to the front door to be met by a young man, nice smile (and a tan - I almost asked him where he'd been on holiday) who said "I've just cleaned your windows" and when I replied where's Richard? he said Oh I'm his son he has hurt his elbow. I rushed back to the kitchen and picked up some money from the table and dashed back, handed it to him and he left with a very big smile, saying "see you in 3 weeks".

On the way back to the kitchen I realised that I had most probably been caught. Checked the windows and no they hadn't been cleaned, popped over to a neighbour who checked the other houses and he had called on them all but said he was a new window cleaner! So a first time for everything but the next person who calls uninvited will wonder about such a rude, brusque old lady! I still can't quite believe it happened to me.

Take care everyone,

R.

Oh Reece, that is awful, but I can understand how easily it happens. Maybe we are just too trusting sometimes. Just goes to show how careful we must all be.

Anne, glad you enjoyed your sandwich......do have another! Oh yes, and take the phones off the hook for a while!

Beautiful spring day here - really, really, nice. Had lunch with an old friend from Burma who is staying with her daughter locally. Good to catch up on things.

Had a surprise windfall yesterday...........my pension went up by 12p. Still stunned by the shock.......lol

Anyone heard from Josie lately?? Hope all is well with her.

Take care all. Love. Cx.

Susan Report 25 Mar 2011 08:31

Hi Everyone

Anne sorry but I could not follow your text above what does it all mean?

I don't think a sandwich will do you much damage.

Thankyou for the offer in Canterbury, unless you can find William Haycocks parents God bless you ,that line I have all but given up on but I will use your info you found for me the last time and put it in my tree as fact until someone proves me wrong.

Reece that is not a nice thing to do to you ,never had it happen to me YET I may say but with the way things are nowa days it could .

We are still very warm here, waiting for a cool period to come in.

I had some very old photos of my Granfparents that had a lot of marks on them ,sent them to my cousin in the UK and he has sent them back to me like brand new photos I can't believe he is so clever.

I have collected a lot of old photos now just wish I could go all the way back with them ,so nice to see your ancesters faces and what they looked like in stature.

Grandaughter here at present with her friend ,they have popped over for a swim.
The pool was not used much this year sorry to say, just a waste of money I think ...never again to much work to keep clean.

Better get dinner on
Catch you all later

Cynthia !! be carefull how tou spend all that 12p extra.

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 28 Mar 2011 13:06

Cynthia - would you like me to give you a list of things you could spend your 12p on - or are you going to invest it & live on the interest?

Reece - how very upsetting for you - its the principle as well

Susan - does it cost a lot to keep the pool going when its not used - can't you just cover it or drain it - sorry I know nothing about Pools.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend

No Frank or Josie for a while now

Hope to get back in touch again once I have finished all this rushing about - you would think I would lose weight wouldn't you - but not an ounce.

Take care all - must away to see if the office won the lotto over the last few weeks

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 28 Mar 2011 14:28

My 12p? Sorry to have to say this.....but I've blown the lot! lol

Sue, why haven't you used the pool.....I thought it was so hot out there?

Was that Anne who rushed by in a puff of smoke? ;)

Very up and down here at the moment. It looks as though my best friend may have dementia after all and, to top it all, her husband died on Saturday and the nursing staff are not sure when to tell her. So very sad.

On the good side, I have my own computer back! I took it for an estimate at PCW - cost of repair £220+. Repaired by friend.....£65. Just shows you how much profits these big firms make doesn't it?

Had an autism meeting this morning and it really shows up why local authorities get in a mess. So much talking, very little action. Round and round and round we go. People get paid to go round in circles!!

A beautiful day here and the washing is doing very well. In fact, I have more to put out........

Hope our absentee friends are all okay. Love. Cx
