Evelyn - lovely to see you on the thread - our thoughts are with you - you know where to find us if you need us - we will always be there for you.

We should also be having storms today - but not as bad as the ones in OZ
Hope everything is ok Sue

It has been very hot & humid down south - horrid night - very little air about - we need a good thunder storm.

Well back in the office & its still manic - feels like i haven't been away -

Anyone heard from Josie?

Well off in search of an Italian restaurant in an obscure area of London - not having any luck at all.

~~~~~~~~~~~ to Robert & Reece
Take care everyone <3
Morning all - no storms - lots of rain over night - lovely sunny morning - very humid & heavy - not good for any of us
Is this the effects of global warming starting in the south?
OH desperatly wants to go to Spain - if only we could win the big one on the lotto - he would move there tomorrow given the chance - i have to admit - I was never ill when we were there.
No hayfever, no swelling ankles or other areas, no joint pain, slept really well - just blisfully relaxed - unlike here in the UK - :-P
Well must return from dreamland and back to horrid reality.
Will look in again later
Take care all <3 <3
Hi Everyone
I am still here ...we did have a very big storm last night and there are a few trees down around the place but our house weathered it fine.
We have a gap of about 6hrs before the next one ,I don't like the wind but we really need the rain badly in Wa so I won't complain.
Anne my sister in the UK is ff to Spain at the end of July with her Dau and Daughter In Law,I would love to go but living in OZ I will have to incorporate it with a Trip to the UK first.
They are talking about global warming over here too just so they can put our taxes up to pay for it,I don't know if I believe it all I sometimes think it is just the natural way the earth is and we have to be prepared for changes every now an then.
I remember as a child always having snow in the Uk for christmas,to me you all seem to be going back to what was normal 50 yrs ago.
Oz has not changed it is still too hot always was always will be..
OH has just walked in from work better go and ask him how his day went.
Check in later
hi all
lost your broomstick then?
getting a bit careless in our old age, are we? :-D
well, I am thoroughly confused :-S
I went for the repeat mammogram this afternoon.
I had 5 mammograms over a period of 90 minutes
........... into the mammogram room, get undressed, have 3 taken, get dressed, go back to the waiting room, "we need to take another one", "can you wait another half-hour?", take 1 more, wait 15 minutes, take #5
The technician started by saying "pretty certain it's benign, but we need to be certain"
.......... then the last thing she said was that I could go, but I should make an appointment to see my family doctor ASAP
..................... the radiologist was going to take a closer look at the x-rays this evening, and the report would be at my doctor's by Thursday, so I should make an appointment for Thursday.
She said they still think benign, but thought a biopsy might be wanted / would be recommended.
It was too late to phone this afternoon, so I have to wait until tomorrow morning to see if I can get a Thursday appointment. The doctor’s office will be closed on Friday as it is a holiday (Canada Day), the next working day will be Monday ........ and that's the day the new residents start.
Things seem to be moving a bit fast ……. it usually takes 5-10 working days to get reports to the family doctor.
Plus the fact that the mammogram clinic have sent me for biopsies themselves in the past, they haven’t waited for the GP to do it!
As I said, I’m confused about what it means! :-S :-S
You mustn't have known whether you were coming or going Sylvia! How very confusing for you. Hope all goes well.
I am now cream crackered. Today is our 43rd wedding anniversary and I haven't stopped. Nothing exciting except the family coming round for a takeway but it was an early start and..........zzzz
Now, if you lot were on FB, I could show you some pics....... ;-)
We watched a 10 min video of our wedding which had been transposed from a 6mm cine. The grandchildren were fascinated and my granddaughter reckons I haven't changed.....lovely child she is ....lol She then said that she wished all wedding videos were as short!
Think I will have a day off tomorrow!
Hope all okay. Love. Cx.
Hi all
xxx
glad you had such a lovely day C, xxxx
it's our anniversary in August ......... w eusually make sure we are in Vancovuer, and go out for dinner to our favourite restaurant, just the 2 of us. Plus J&M, if they happen to be around.
Last year, M had gone back home but J was still here ........ so we got a babysitter for MJ, and the 3 of us had a lovely dinner
I've just bought OH's anniversary and birthday presents (his birthday is 6 days later) ...... he wanted a new camera, digital but with a bit more ability to take closeups of flowers etc than he had.
It might turn out to be his presents for the next 10 years :-D
My anniversary present is going to be a sub to findmypast ..... I've decided I should try it again. I've only ever had a 2 week trial on the aussie fmp, so I suggested it to him. They have got some more records on .co.uk, so we'll see.
hope everyone is well
Reece Report 30 Jun 2011 20:07
Hello friends,
Oh dear Sylvia - sending best wishes to you and hoping for good news for you.
Feeling rather down - a whole year since P went into hospital for the last time. Older son came over and we talked and reminisced - he had his 50th birthday yesterday, 29th, but said please, no celebrations!
Disappointed today to receive a certificate I ordered from GRO for my gggrandma except that it was the same name and place but for a 77 year old and not a 34 year old. I checked on FMP and the two names have the same reference numbers so I have sent in a complaint form. That can't be right, surely - has anyone had a similar experience? Could the names and details have been transposed?
Going out for the day tomorrow to Penshurst Place, Kent - hope it doesn't get too hot!
~~~~~~~~~Anne - who are those slave drivers you work for? Do take care.

Cynthia I have been wondering about FB - is it safe? Silly question R you will say? Would I be on it if it weren't? What fun for you to see those lovely pictures again and for the grand children to see them, too.

Susan - we had a tremendous storm here on Thursday - reminded me of my childhood in northern NSW - and play went on at Wimbledon on the Centre Court!

Speak to you all soon - love and best wishes.

Hi Everyone

I Apologies for my absence but I have been participating in the Busselton Age Health study over the last two days and I can tell you I have been tested for everything you can think of medically all for free.

It is a wonderfull study that I go too every three years .

I am happy to say I have good strong bones my hearing is like a young persons .
Last night I had to sleep with a monitor on to see if I had sleep apnea,I think that was the worst of all of it and I have to wait for all the blood works to come back.

I did get a clean bill of health this morning after everything was checked by a doctor.
Only thing he told me was my body mass index was to high in other words I am too fat .

So guess what I am on a diet again.

Weather here is very bad at the moment lots of much needed rain so we can't complain.

Looking forward to a good nights sleep tonight without the sleep monitor

Reece sorry to hear you are down at the moment just remember you have your family around you and lots of friends who care .
My uncle Pete is still very sad at losing my Aunt in January,he is keeping busy as much as he can .
When I lost my Mother I thought I would never get over it but I did in a way.I still miss her everyday after 30yrs I just try to remember all the fun we had when she was alive . :-)

Sylvia
I hope you get good news for your biopsy x

Well I ma off to do some housework ...not much has been done over the last two days.

Suex :-)

Hi everyone

Reece ........ I'm sorry that you are feeling so down. (((xxx)))

Can't help you with the GRO certificate. I should give them a reing ......... I gather they can be very helpful.

The news from the doctor was that I have to wait for the mammogram clinic to make an appointment for a biopsy

.... they are still almost 100% certain that the calcifications are benign, but want to be absolutely sure.

Tomorrow (ie, Friday) is a holiday here ....... Canada Day, Canada's 144th birthday, and as big here as July 4 is in the US

....................... so I shall wait until Monday and then call the clinic to tell them that I'm away from July 9 to 27.

We're going to Nova Scotia, see J&M for a week, a conference for 5 days, and then the train home.

If I have to wait until after that for the biopsy, then so be it!

Thank you everyone for all your good wishes.

Thinking of you Sylvia <3

Was that Anne who flew in and out so quickly.......working too hard again I suppose. tuts. Take care of yourself do.

Sue, it was good to hear that you're okay....but can we just skip the body mass thingey......pleeeeze. ;-)

Hi Reece, I guess it's going to be a few years of highs and lows for you as you have so many memories of times gone by. Hope it gets easier bit by bit.

As for FB....well I think it's as safe as you make it to be honest. I am on under a pseudonym so I can choose who my friends will be and won't be hassled by unwelcome contacts. I don't, as yet, have a particular yearning to contact old school friends or whatever, it suits me nicely.

I am friends with about a dozen people from this site, my family and a couple of others - but I chose them - if you know what I mean.

It's interesting to see the others 'in the flesh' so to speak and to chat occasionally and share photos of all sorts...days gone by....ancestors, up to date pics, gardens, plants, pets etc. The variety is enormous.

May be something for you to think about??

My latest avatar on here is one I put on FB to begin with but a couple of members suggested that I put it on here because it's so cute!!

It was my first birthday and I am wondering why my parents didn't call me Lucy.......as in Lastic! :-D

Love to all. Cx

Tabitha Report 1 Jul 2011 14:54

Reece - sorry you are feeling so low - we do think about you on here

Sylvia - what a shame you have to wait so long - can't you get them to hurry it up a bit

Susan - wonderful news - nothing like a good check up is there - wouldn't worry too much about the BMI

I was also told I could do with losing a few pounds (well i did know that) so I decided 2 or 3 weeks of salads & fruit salads would do me good. Well it didn't really do my pocket good as the shopping cost so much more.

By the end of the the 3 weeks went back to the doctor - with my clothes feeling a bit tighter (not a good sign) I had put on over 10 pounds - mostly water and I was puffing up like a little water balloon around my middle, swollen ankles and fingers. This could be the humidity as well.

Now he has told me not to have the fruit & salads but to stick to protein & carbs for a few weeks & drink a lot more water - to get rid of the water retention & come back in a month.

Now I am trying to lose the excess fluid - i think diets shoudl be abolished

And on that note i am going back to work 30 min break now)

Oh by the way i am now working a few hours on Sunday this week ;-)

Take care all <3

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 1 Jul 2011 22:20

It's a bit like you can't win isn't?

You think salads and fruit etc are good for you............. :-(

Well my diet at teatime was chronic.....

3 buttered croissants (using them up of course)

2 small cream meringues (treat)

Strawberry milkshake (using leftover strawberries)

Chronic....but very nice :-D

Just been watching William and Kate in Canada........they are such a lovely couple. I smiled all the way through the report...

Bedtime yet again.........where does time go??

Hi Everyone

Anne thank you for making me feel better,it is so hard to trim down when you get older ...I don't think I over eat now so I will have to cut something out.

I must admit I do not drink enough water so that may help a bit..
I ma having Chinese tonight I will be careful what I have.....no fried rice that's for sure.

Cynthia I have been watching William and Kate too...I think they make a beautiful couple now if the powers that be can just not interfere they should be fine .
Mind you I don't think William will let anyone interfere as he did see what happened to his Mother .

Very cold and wet today ...14c thats cold for us

Check in later tonight

Hi all

it's a lovely summer day .......... sunny and about 25C

it will soon be too warm for me! :-D

We have the fans set up in the various rooms ..... I think we may be turning at least one of them on VERY soon!

William and Kate are certainly attracting attention over here ......... and they seem to be so very natural, with the crowds and with each other.

Hi Everyone,
It's 9C here and sort of sunny,
we are experiencing, what you guys would have had last year with the volcanic clouds from Iceland.
[Thanks to some Volcano in Chile. ]
Air New Zealand got innovative with their routes. and are continuing to fly while The Aussies ie Qantas and Virgin blue keep cancelling their flights.

Well I survived the 'Move from Hell' and am enjoying our new home.
we still have our double garage 3 quarters full of stuff that will not fit in the house.
So will be doing a number of trips to the Refuse dump to unload all this junk that we have managed to collect in the last 18 years .

Still Job hunting in between unpacking.

Congratulations on your Wedding Anniversary Cynthia.

Ann the best diet you can go on in,
is the simplest ...... Eat all things in moderation - even fruit as it is very high in natural sugars.

I was reading a book recently where the Author pointed out that diets do not work because in cutting out different food groups, they throw the body out of balance. eg; excess fluid.

To be healthy we need to consume a balanced diet that includes, sugars, fats carbohydrates, protein etc.

Right now I could really go for a Creme Donut, unfortunately without a Job I have had to curtail treats such as these,
which is probably a good thing.
:-0

Catch you all later, take care Josie

Sounds like yesterday was the day from hell - so very glad i wasn't here

Well better go & get some things started - will try & check back in with you all later.

Love to all normally on the thread & those who are absent at the moment <3

Need to check my lotto - if i have a biog win - i will be out of this office so fast - well after my months notice - minus holiday allowance etc. well you ahve to dream don't you.

Take care all ;-) <3

Edit: - morning Josie - you sneaked in while I was typing - good to see you back again - glad the move went ok - new job on the horizon - be optimistic - thanks for the diet info - my thoughts exactly - all these faddy things - my trouble is I need to do a lot more exercise & I will lose a lot of added baggage - well the thought is there.

Purchased a new exercise machine 3 weeks ago expecting it to arrive the week we were back off hols - it didn't it came the next day. logic told me - don't start just before the week away as you will lose the benefit - so left it in its box - Sunday back from hols too tired to open it - forgot all about it this last week - still in its box - working today - so no chance to get it sorted - will try next weekend ;-) :-P to exercising
