Sylvia, you win a prize.......... a year's subscription to Genes Reunited complaints department. ;-)

Is that you off to see M&J again, that train trip sounds lovely.

I always enjoyed travelling to the South of France every year on holiday when we were young as it was a train from Glasgow to Dover then across the channel and on to the couchette (sleeper) all the way to Nice. It was quite magical to awaken to the sunshine and warmth on the Mediteranean as the train made it's way south. :-) :-) <3

No holidays this year as last year's two American trips and two christenings have taken their toll...............we'll just stay at home and enjoy all the lovely weather. :-S :-S :-S

I see England are having a drought and a hosepipe ban...... lucky you.

'Ere mate, wanna buy some good Scottish water................... :-P :-( :-D

Where's our Cynthia today, to busy blowing out candles and eating cake. ;-)

Hi Frank

yes .............. but also we have the annual meeting of a society that we're in.

They're meeting in Halifax, so that is why we are going in July.

Wouldn't otherwise travel over there in high summer .......... high prices and tourists! :-P

We'll have just over a week with J&M, 4-5 days at the meetings, and then the train for 6 days.

I keep hearing about high temperatures in England. We're still below normal temps, and a lot of rain. :-P

Not a cake or candle to be seen :-(

But, I think my grandson has had a lovely day, apart from having to go to school! He got a new bike and possible some new trainers....he seemed to be asking us to admire them anyway......???? His feet are nearly as big as my OH's feet!

We watched some old videos of when he was young.....cringing as we saw ourselves on the tv......arrgghhh.

This was a flying visit.....so bye for now~~~~

ps. lovely pic Frank.

Hello Everyone,
thank you for your concern at my absence. Ron was taken ill in France and has been very ill in hospital, he is now home, as of yesterday afternoon.Must say he has had wonderful treatment, we are so lucky here in Guernsey with our fantastic hospital.
You name it Ron has been tested for it, to start with they thought he had the big C, he has been diagnosed with Emphysema and Pneumonia, he is still on antibiotics and the nurse will call daily to dress his wounds, he had draining tubes in for a week.
He has got up and dressed today and looks quite normal snoozing in front of the T V.
At the moment I feel a bit frazzled my bum doesnt seem to have found a chair for ages.
Have had to cancel one of our trips to France and looks like the next one will be cancelled to fit in with further tests and X rays, that is unimportant what matters is that we get Ron well.
Love to everyone

Evelyn
Glad to hear that Ron is home and on the mend and I do hope you have now found a nice comfortable chair to park your bum in for a well deserved rest...

Frank.
The Welsh sell their water to England..CHEAPER than WE have to pay for it here to come out of our taps...
AND they forcibly evicted people from villages to make the reso...(Um cant spell that, big lakes?)when they flooded places to make them for the ENGLISH consumption,..
People could take what they wanted ,but still had to go, so one lady insisted on taking her front door...
Welsh Water is a bit of a BP making topic with me so I tend to steer clear normally...

Hi FBG,

Thankfully we are not metered for water usage butI do feel for those who have large families and have to deal with charges for an essential.

That will be Alex Salmond's next plan as well as producing "green electricity" to sell to the world by 2020, he'll probably decide to sell off our water of which we have gallons.

By that time we will all be forced to speak either Gaelic or Scots but no English.......... :-S

Hi Evelyn, so lovely to have you back and do hope things go well for Ron. I am sure you are a really good nurse to him, but even nurses have to sit down sometimes! Put your feet up when you can and Fans will make you a cup of tea....that's if she can remember how to of course!

Don't worry about 'water worries' giving you blood pressure probs Fans....it's an age thing :P

I'm fortunate to live quite close to several 'big lakes' thingeys - one of which supplies water to Liverpool I believe.

Hope the day stays fine so that I can take my poorly friend out......

Back later...~~~~

Well that's our lochs filling up again as it's absolutely chucking it down.
May was a washout and we've had one dry day since the start of June....... :-( :-( :-( and it's cold. :-S

I know the birds head north in summer but I really feel like heading south, drought or no drought. :-D :-S

Come on over to Guernsey Frank and have a nice break in the sunshine, I bet you and your lovely wife would enjoy it.
Luckily our reservoir is full so no water shortage here.
Nurse has been to change Ron,s dressings ( where the draining tubes have been for the passed week) and she will call again tomorrow.
Its lovely not having to go to the hospital to visit him, also nice to have him back to almost normal. In the post today was his appointment for his next Xray(July 4th), day after our 40th wedding Anniversary, goodness me where have all those years gone?
Nice to know you are all sort of O K, wish I could give our Josie a job, bless her.
I love the photos of Franks lovely grandaughters, 2 little gems.
Love to all

The years flyby don't they Evelyn? Far, far, too fast.

Well, I managed to get my friend out for a drive today. It's the first time she has been out since goodness knows when. She has been so poorly. She cried a little bit when I got her into the car and again when I took her back but she thoroughly enjoyed her little jaunt. Hopefully, it has helped her to regain her confidence a little.

Hi all
xxx

Evelyn ..... lovely to see you back.

Sorry that Ron has been so ill, but hope he will soon be his old self again.

Now take some rest yourself.

We went to Queensland in 2008, and there was a huge furor going on. The government was planning on damming a river to form a huge reservoir that would provide water for Brisbane, which was desperate for water.

The area we were in was at least 200 km from Brisbane, it was a wide, flattish valley, and the land that would be covered with water included some of the best farmland, as well as houses and a couple of villages. People were not happy, to say the least!

C ................ I am so glad to hear that you had such a great day with your friend.

Take care everyone

Cancel your Guernsey trip Frank, it is pouring with rain here, sorry about that I will let you know when the sun comes out again.
Nurse has been again today and seems pleased with Rons progress she is not calling again until Tuesday, coo I shall have a whole day with no medical staff calling, only the patient to deal with, hope he soon gets his appetite back.
Very quiet here today, hope everyone is O K
Love to you all

Thanks for that Evelyn,

We used to visit Jersey quite regularly as when we worked seasonal at The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland, some of our workmates overwintered at the Hotel De France and we were able to get favourable rates for a break at the end of the season in November.

All of my childhood memories of sunny holidays in France were destroyed when I took the family to Lyon to visit my aunt in 1989 and it poured down for three days. Even when it didn't rain it was windy and chilly :-0 :-S
Perhaps you forget the bad times when you are young............... NAHH, it was always sunny and hot when we were young. :-P ;-)

Talking of rain, I see the Canadian Grand Prix has been stopped for an hour due to torrential rain so you are in good company. :-D

It was after all, very sunny and warm for my OH's train trip to Keighley with her mum and she thoroughly enjoyed it.

I do hope they aren't going to cancel Antiques Roadshow in favour of the CGP!! I won't be a happy bunny ......sulk. :-(

Evelyn, sometimes it's good to have a quiet day......take care.......

Rain, rain and more rain here.

I have changed my picture to one of the church where we got married. It's a grade 1 listed building apparently but needs a lot of renovation at the moment. It is known as a 'Cast Iron' church and has a lot of cast iron in its construction.

Oh no....we're still with the racing................arrrgggghhhhh lots of wittering from the commentators......go away.......I would like to watch AR.

Love to all Cx :-D
