Hi all!

Sylvia, would love for you to come and visit! We are at the foot of the Dandenongs which is very pretty and in the middle of a wine region too if you fancy that as well!

That sounds like a great trip you are thinking of.

Hoep everyone is well and having a nice day/night!

Hi

Grace, it is pretty much a repeat of what we did in 2006 .................. partly determined by the fact that I have 3 cousins still alive (plus the husband of another), and we have to arrnage equal time with them. OR they squabble like you wouldn't believe! One of them lives in Seniors housing in Melbourne, with her husband, one is on the Godl Coast, and the third "Mary" is somewhere in QLD

My second cousin, the eldest daughter of one of them, now lives near Hervey Bay, and we get on really well. She's only about 6 years younger than me ............... she and her husband are a delight to visit. Especially after dealing with her mother "Mary"!

We also have several friends around Australia

I hope to add some extra palces that we either have not been to, or not been to in recent memory.

We hope to be able to spend 5-6 weeks down there. We'll be in contact!

The Dandenongs are indeed very pretty. We lived in Melbourne for 10½ months in 1975 - 76, and spent most of our weekends driving around.

We lived in Macleod, OH was at LaTrobe, and we used to walk there along what was then more or less a country road, past lots of fields. I used to walk to Rosanna to get the train into Melbourne, if I remember correctly. In those days, most of the carriages dated back to the turn of the century ...... they had wooden seats, and some of the carriages had doors that wouldn't close or that would open suddenly as the train went round a corner. Pretty exciting ............. especially when you had a toddler in an Umbroller stroller!

One of my cousins had a daughter who built a house in the Dandenongs and was burnt out in a big fire

I never said, but Nova Scotia was terribly humid! I hated it.

I washed my hair, blow dried it, and within 10 minutes it was almost as wet as when I started!

Then I got this wonderful wave on one side. The next day, there were 2 waves on that side.

I complained to J that the humidity was making a mess of my hair

"MUM! You have the most wonderful marcelled waves! People pay large amounts of money to have those done, and you're complaining about them!"

Only parents will know the tone of voice of that "MUM"

I decided to live with whatever my hair did for the next 2 weeks .................. curly or wavy, but not what I prefer!

Nite nite Sylvs.

I think it 'will' be more pleasant today - it has rained overnight and so the air is much fresher.

Still very warm though.

jax Report 4 Aug 2011 12:01

I would love some beans Cyn as my first lot died but it looks like I may get a good late crop off the ones we just bunged the seeds in the tub rather than start them off indoors.

HID was like kim and Aggie yesterday as we are supposed to have an expection of the house....she is late and I am dying for a ciggie plus we also have the jobcentre bloke coming round also later so she better hurry up.

Complete waste of time Fans...edit and Renes

Waited until 12 and gave agency a call they did'nt write it in the diary so they could not come so I told them that was a waste of a days holiday for HID.

Compliance bloke came as HID was out over the shops...started going on about him living here and I never told them??? never asked as I am not claiming income related benefit. Although whenever my ESA forms are completed he fills them in and gives his name and address...so had they not noticed?

Anyway once it was then realised that I am claiming on my NI contributions he then said ...well that was a waste of yours and my time , nice meeting you

jax Report 4 Aug 2011 15:44

Yeah they probably thought the could have me for claiming benefits when I had someone living with me earning at some point ??? If they want to pay my £800 rent then they can start telling me what I can and cannot do

jax

jax Report 4 Aug 2011 16:13

Well I am pretty annoyed actually

I rang them when I got the letter to find out what it was about and the bloke who came to see me said ...oh it must be about DLA??? well I had no idea why they would come round about that anyway...what has that got to do with the jobcentre and it is not means tested.

Had he looked into it he could have saved himself a journey
