Morning all, seems strange looking in and no posting from the earlybird Maz.
Wet and windy here at the moment, not very nice at all.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 26 Oct 2010 09:59

Morning LG. Hope Maz is having a good time. Mind you, she did seem to have a lot of 'work' planned; Cousin sitting and hospital visiting as well as decorating! She'll probably need a holiday to get over it. lol

I'm open to suggestions, although we need to keep an eye on the Tube Drivers Union. Don't think they will be doing anything on Monday, but you never know!
Thoughts
1) National Gallery/St Martins/Leicester Sq etc
2)Oxford St/Regent St
3) St Pauls and the City
4) Wibbly wobbly bridge/Tate Modern + City

Off out in an hour and will probably be chived to get ready soon.

Morning DET not a very nice day to be out and about LOL. I will take a look for some ideas a little later as I am spending a while writing some long overdue personal letters. Poor friends and family with think I've left the country LOL. Have a good day and catch you later. x ps what is wibbly wobbly bridge ??

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 26 Oct 2010 10:31

Millenium Bridge! It had to be closed originally because it oscillated when they did a 'test opening' and hundreds of people were allowed on it. Trouble is, they automatically synchronised their steps so it was left, right, left, right. and the bridge swayed! There are dampers on it now, and if you stand underneath it, it 'sings'...well there is a high pitched noise.

We're off to the In laws, so no outside activites. Meat pie promised (threatened?) for lunch! Must tear myself away now. Catch you later this afternoon/evening. Hope the letters get written,

Evening all - hope you have had a good day despite the wet weather. The meat pie was fine, and as PC has gone out, that means no need to cook dinner - result!

DET, have you been on the wibbly wobbly bridge? I've seen it on the telly.

YG Report 26 Oct 2010 18:52

Evening everyone.

What a miserable day weather wise!! Forecast is better for tomorrow, thank goodness.

LG!! Shame on you not knowing what the wibbly wobbly bridge is, and you a southerner!! Even I knew lol!!

LaGooner Report 26 Oct 2010 19:42

I had never heard of it, I am a mine of useless info but not that bit obviously LOL.
Letters all done and posted but a few o/s emails to deal with. They will have to wait until after tea which is where I am off to now so catch you all later x

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 26 Oct 2010 20:28

So glad its not just me who knew the wibbly wobbly bridge....i was beginning to think it must be a family name lol.

Eldest and I visited the Tate Modern several years ago and walked across it into the City (of London). It doesn't wobble any more, mores the pity. I think the noise you can hear if you stand under it, is caused by the wind whistling through the cables and across the metal mesh walk way/stairs. There is wheelchair access via a ramp as you'd expect for something relatively modern.

Off to find an evening snack. Can't be doing with proper midday meal - throws me all out, it does!

It seems to be going that way LG :-( If only Aunty would come back, it might spark a bit more re-par-tee! We need new blood - their doing a donor session in the village...I'll see if they have any to spare lol

BTguy came this morning and thinks there is a fault at the exchange. Another 24-48 hours at slower than dial up speed.
PC went out about 5pm and hasn't been seen or heard of since. We know she is an adult, but while she is living under our roof, we do wish she wouldn't just disappear, or at the very least say that she 'might' stay out over night.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 27 Oct 2010 11:29

I wish she would hurry up back too. I miss her monologues LOL. It is so quiet on here now with everyone busy with their own things. I kept looking in last night but no one around.

Don't expect miracles with PC DET LOL. I have always been the last to know what was going on. I tried everything to get them to at least text me but they never did. The exception now is H and she always lets me know whats going on but only since she married and moved away LOL.

Will give London some thought a little later when I get back from the planting of our Brownie Centenary Oak tree. Hopefully will be able to get some work done on the family tree later as I have lots of bits and pieces to enter in.

Did you find any new blood DET? Mind you, you'd have to bring the person as well, not just the blood.

YG

YG Report 27 Oct 2010 19:13

Helloooooo!!!

Mine is very old blood, but will it do!!

I couldn't hang around last night LG till you woke up!! I had to be up early and we are having an excessively busy time at the moment prepping the annual conference, so going in early, working through lunch and staying at night. Never mind, it will all be over at the end of next week!

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 27 Oct 2010 19:32

Send out the vampires for new blood LOL. Well it is nearly Halloween !!

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 27 Oct 2010 19:45

Alas, alack...no blood to spare...they needed it all. Hope you get TOIL, LG, or at least extra cash for the extra time. Bet you'll be glad when the new person starts.

Good news (or not) we're back up to speed, in fact flying! Wonder how long it will last this time? And PC turned up at 1.30 this afternoon, showered and shot off again. So glad I didn't lay into her as OH's mobile shows she sent us a message last night...which we didn't hear. Probably thought it was part of a TV prog lol!
