Here is a poser for you Aunty. Can you see if you can find the marriage between Elizabeth Cashman born 1879 Aghada Cork Ireland and Charles Powney born 1879 Midsomer Norton Somerset,England. The marriage according to 1911 was 1904 give or take a year. As he is listed as a Royal Marine (can't be found on 1901) he could have married abroad.

Not one called Charles marrying an Elizabeth Cashman. Found a widow Elizabeth Powney marrying another bloke.

Just read your thread. Those are the results I am picking up except I can not find Elizabeth Cashman connected to Charles Powney. Need to go look again.

LG Do you have his regiment number by any chance. There are two Charles Powney names in the National Archives WW1 list but neither is listed as a Royal Marine.

And this is not going to help find his marriage. I reckon we need to look at any marriages with Charles Powney in the equation.

And have you done a 1901 census check for Elizabeth Cashman.

There is one born in Ireland with Mary for a mother. And that is not much good because you have no idea if it is her.

And all of this should be on your thread so it adds to the info you have.
