I would love to see the fall colours that would have been our next trip to the Us but we ran out of cash.

I am forever hopeful our fortunes will change for the better very soon & we can spend our r 25th year together in 2017 or our 20th wedding anniversary - its something to look forward to

Just returned from a long weekend in Corfu.

Went to see the Cyclamen and snowdrops. Weather was excellent 25C.

Collect my 'girls' tomorrow.

Glad the fog has disappeared as I need to do a lot more gardening before the winter sets in.

I am fine just having a break and am a bit busy with OH and his doc app.

We are coming to the Uk for christmas so will be in touch over the Chrissy break.

We are hoping we get some Snow while we are there.

Hello everyone,

Yes, I should have popped in before now.

Exciting news from Sue that she and OH plan a visit to UK for Christmas. Hope you can see some of us, Sue and I will write privately with my address.

Unfortunately, I have developed "atrial fibrillation" and spent a week in hospital with breathing problems due to very fast heart rate. Lots of new medication now, heart monitors and visits to cardiologist plus warfarin routine blood tests seems to take up a lot of time.

I thought of you all just now when I heard a half hour programme on Idries Davies, poet of Rhymney, Glamorganshire of which he described in his poems with much feeling. I found it fascinating that there were 12 or more chapels and 3 churches in Rhymney and wonder how many survive today.

I have not been able to locate or pinpoint my ancestors, David and Anne Jones of Abergwilli whose son Benjamin lived and worked in Rhymney until he emigrated from there with his family to NSW in 1857.

The most success I've had recently is in the Sussex lines of my mother but I think that I am nearing the end of my research now.

I had a bad week .... I got a bad case of the runs on Sunday last week. I'm finally feeling better, but it took over a week :-(


Our grandson is enjoying Kindergarten, and is doing well, thankfully! His other grandparents looked after him last Friday ......... it was a PD day. They took him to see the Muppet Movie, along wth hundreds of other kids as every school in the city was on PD day :-D


We're going away for a few days tomorrow, to see our friend. We should be back on Thursday

Nope!!

We're going away fro Christmas, back to stay in the hotel where we stayed last month.

Our friend greeted us with the news that she had tumours on the liver, pancreatic cancer was suspected .................. so we pushed her into agreeing to eat at the hotel's Christmas Day Buffet with us.

Now she is in palliative care, at least for a short time, as things are progressing faster and she was dehydrated. If she is in better shape after feeding up and getting re-hydrated, then she could go home, though that would mean giving up the very comfortable single room that she currently has. She can stay there and go out for the day.

We are still going to the hotel, but have no idea what is going to happen. We do have other friends in the same town.


Meanwhile, OH decided to get the "runs" on Wednesday, failed to drink enough (men!!), and is therefore taking longer to recover. He's very tired, and sleeping a lot!


We therefore have not got all our Christmas letters out, nor the little parcel to our daughter, or, or or .................


but at least I don't have to worry about food!

I am fortunate in reaching an age when presents amongst my friends and relations are not required or sought. As a family we decided several years ago that we already had most things and receiving something, we would probably not have bought for ourselves was plain daft.
Buying for children these days is also very difficult, so for the children of my brother and sister I give vouchers so they can buy something they really want.

I am not a curmudgeonly old man, but Christmas is not as it was when I was a lad. I am lucky that I will be spending Christmas with my sister in warmer climes. We are spending 2 weeks just north of Malaga where she has a static home on a really nice campsite. We went last year but returned before the New Year. Should be interesting to see how the Spanish bring in the New Year.
Only other time I have been away at New Year , I was at a party for 4,000 people at Ayers Rock..

This Saturday having a meal with my sister and her children and their children so that presents can be exchanged.

Looking forward to working on my tree whilst away, reading lots of books and taking many long walks. I hope to return a fitter and slimmer me.

PS Nikki & Vikki will be enjoying another stay at the cattery where they regularly entertain visitors. I will miss them but knowing they are safe a well looked after is good.

We will be at home on our own with Shadow

We are seeing the outlaws at the weekend to exchange presents - i always give the children Money as they are at the difficult age 18 - 11 - & nearly 10 that all want something different.

One of the girls is now learning the French Horn - so goodness only knows what she will buy & she wants to go into politics as she thinks women can make a better job of running the country.

The other one is a very girly girl . and likes all things pretty & sweet - goodness only knows what she will be.

As for the oldest one - he still loves his art but is learning to drive & loves going out with his uncle (who is a professional instructor) when we go for a visit. he really wanted him to teach him - but we are too far away. i know they all prefer to get their own things.


i dont think Shadow would like to be left in a cattery - he is not very happy when left without a lap for too long. The other morning there was a very pitiful grizzle & long drawn out howl - i thought he was really ill - but we think he had a nightmare & thought he had been abandoned again. As soon as i went down to him he cuddled up to me & wouldn't leave me alone. So he had to come to bed with us & snuggled up to us both.

By the time I got back to sleep he was snoring & cuddled up tight to the OH & thats where he was when i woke up

The last 3 nights he has to come up tot he bedroom with us - makes sure we are tucked up in bed & then goes back down stairs. when we wake up in the morning he is either cuddled next to me or OH - goodness only knows what time he comes up at least we haven't had another howling session.

How is the packing going Sue - when do you fly out of Australia

You may miss the sunshine and local wine, but you will have Shadow to keep you company.

The cattery is very good with mine - they are spoilt and allowed to roam in the store room. Vikki needs a special diet so they have a double pen that allows them to be separated at feeding times. They have some toys, including a ball in a track that can keep both amused patting it back and forwards between them. Nikki will probably miss the chance to eliminate some more rodents :-)

As I sit here in Spain enjoying glorious sunshine, I feel sorry for Sue who travelled to the UK hoping for snow that seems very unlikely in England.
