Hi Arthur - Welcome back - was feeling very lonely.

Sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly after your holiday.

Shadow wakes me around 02:30 most mornings - sometimes he lets me go back to sleep for a couple of hours if I am lucky. Its Ok when i am on an early shift - but when we are off for a few days it can be very annoying.

I expect the cats were pleased to get home again.

Hope the hospital sort out your leg problem. take care

hello everyone

Arthur ............ sorry to hear about your leg problem. Reminds me of the erysipelas outbreak I had last year, courtesy of a "friendly" mosquito!!

I do hope the hospital can sort out the problem for you.

I'm glad we don't have a cat :-D ............ I like my sleep now that I'm retired.

Anne and Sylvia thanks for your kind thoughts.

Visited Hospital again on Saturday. Saw the same doctor who told me that the antibiotics he prescribed were not to address the lump - now thought to be a vein leaking - but to address any infection. Well it failed in that respect.

Now on a course of a different antibiotic - not penicillin based. Leg still sore and blistered, but guess I need to complete the course.

I bought a new bed for the cats - they have outgrown two. Currently they are enjoying mutual grooming. Just hope this is not the prelude to the murderous fights they can indulge in.

Happy June everyone

Very grey & cloudy today & what a wind blowing in off the sea, takes your breath away.

Hope it gets better in a few weeks as we have a week off for our Wedding anniversary - 18 years this year

Next year we will have been together 25 years.

Arthur - i am sure its only play fighting - they dont really try to harm each other do they?

Sue - just wondered how Tara is doing

Good morning Folks.

Hope you are all enjoying the weather - or not- depending on which part of the World you are in.

Robert

Lovely to hear from you - How is life in the shell?

Hope all the other "use to be regular" thread users are keeping well

Robert

Robert Report 8 Jun 2016 14:33

Thanks Tabitha, good to hear from you too.

Life in the shell is quite good. Winter was reasonable with virtually no snow in the North East of England. Temperature wise Spring was about the same as Winter but now that Summer is here the weather is much warmer and we have managed to avoid the thunderstorms that some have had.

Glad to hear all is well - hopefully summer will be lovely - we were up near Alnwick & Bamburgh Castle in the Autumn a couple of years ago & it was a beautiful time of year to be there.

Cynthia has been Black & Blue recently - she had a very nasty fall

I did tell her to take more water with it (my Granny use to say that)

I think the bruises are getting better now.

Not heard from Reece or Sue lately

Pleased you enjoyed your visit to Northumberland - it is a County that has everything. I pass through it frequently on my visits "home" to Edinburgh.

Tabitha Report 10 Jun 2016 13:33

Ah i love Edinburgh too - spent may happy days there - we have had 3 x 2 week holidays there so far.

We stayed near Inverness & drove over to Skye & up to John O'Grotas another day.
The year before we went to Lands End (but not from Inverness)

I have always loved travelling around the UK

Hi ya

Happy Birthday xx

Yep, so many are disappearing, old once popular threads are reduced to 2 or 3 people keeping them going ...... it really seems that GR is on the down and out :-( :-( :-( :-(

Mind you ........... it has also been the summer and people go out and about

Robert Report 4 Oct 2016 15:52

I look in occasionally, just being NOSEY but I do like to keep up to date with what is happening. As Sylvia mentioned not so many people are getting involved on many threads.
Sad- but a sign of the times?

Robert Report 4 Oct 2016 15:56

Just had a look at some of the posts from when we came on here in 2010.

Quite nostalgic - and sad seeing some of the names.

Who could forget Frank, my fellow Scot from Glasgow?

Still here

Have had a short holiday in Spain to 'chill out'.

Now busy with an overgrown garden.

I am also giving a series of talks on my holiday in Armenia and Georgia - this has taken days to preparei n Powerpoint. It is great to see my holiday again and as the talks are to groups of people I know, they are generally good social evenings.

Must try tp do some more breaking down of walls during the winter. The Daily Express is forecasting 4 months of freezing weather.

Do we know when WDYTYA starts?

Best wishes

.Lovely to see you both pop in again Robert & Arthur.

I am still here on another thread -

This use to be such a happy little place - it kept me going through some very painful & depressing weeks. I would have faded away without it and all of you helping me through it all especially after 3 very long & upsetting operations in 2009 and again in 2014 after another very trying time with the work situation & operation again. My little family on here really helped me so much.

Hope ~Reece is keeping well too.

I miss you all & our little chats

Robert

Robert Report 15 Oct 2016 14:45

It seems no-one wants to talk to us!!!

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 23 Oct 2016 06:08

I agree its just us 3 now - at least we can keep it going for a while - Sue may pop in to tell us about her little dog.

Arthur thank you for the PM - hope all are keeping well

Shadow is very well but grumpy the weather has turned.

I love the Autumn - just so very busy at the moment.

Just got back from a business trip to Bratislava & Prague - still very tired.

Would welcome your thoughts on a problem.

My maternal grandmother's brother George Hill appears on a 1901 Census with his mother Rosa Constance nee Britten. He is shown as age 5. Also listed are his sister, Gertrude Haack, her husband August and their son Charles, her sister Lilian Maud (my grandmother and her sister Edith Grace. All living at 427 Liverpool Road, Islington

His father Henry Hill was born Dec 1850, and is shown on the 1891 Census living at the family home 29 St Paul's Place, Islington.

I had believed Henry Hill had died in 1894, making George's father someone else.
His mother died in 1904.

Have not been able to find any further on George. I have checked whether he was living with a sister using 1911 Census - he was not.

How would you suggest I proceed?
