Susan Report 9 Oct 2014 09:27

Hi everyone

Another sunny day today ,beautiful weather we are having latly.

My garden is looking so nice with all the new Rose blooms coming out and at the beginning of Summer they are always big blooms and with lot of colour.

Talking to my Sister last night in the UK on Skype she tells me it is very cold and possible Snow is around the corner ,I wish I could be there to see it but I think our trip is going to be about may next year and I think all the snow will be gone by then worst luck , My oH has never seen snow and would love to see it just once in his lifetime.

Sylvia your trip sounds great ...I am envious of you ,will get to Canada one day I do have an Uncle and Aunt there so will be able to stay with them,I do have a lot of Cousins that I have not even met yet.

I hope you are keeping well
My love to you all <3

Sue I think we may have to send you to counselling – anyone actively wanting Snow - needs somoen to speak to about their thoughts

I do agree its very pretty to look at - but not when you are trying to get to & from work

How long a trip are you planning?

I think your sister lives a long way from us.

Arthur - Shadow seems to be very poorly at the moment - I know he does not like the rain - so could be depressed Especially if it goes on all day – or heavy winds.

He only really sniffed his breakfast yesterday but he did eat a few dreamies. He did not ask for any food yesterday evening & left his dinner.
He slept in one place all evening & all night - most unusual.

Normally first thing in the morning he is Up & out of the house like a rocket – this morning he didn’t even go to the door or window & nowhere near the kitchen. He took no notice when Ginger nut knocked on the door for food. When i gave him a little handful of dreamies as we left this morning – he didn’t even go & investigate.

Usually he makes a dash for the bag as soon as we go near it. We are both very worried about him. Trouble is we are also out of the hose most of the day today. Dread to know what I am going to find when I get home.

He won’t play with any of his toys either or go near them - which is very unusual. If he keeps this up tonight then it’s going to be a trip to the vet tomorrow.

He didn’t even like his brush this morning. We have picked him up
and not had any squeaks or yelps so does not look like he hurts anywhere.

I am at a loss - any ideas?

Thanks Depressed from the South coast of England

Sally many congratulations on your 50th anniversary.

I hope you will both be well enough to celebrate together.

Shadow is still very poorly-its been over 24 hours since he had any food so I have taken an emergency days holiday. We have an emergency appointment at the vets. I just hope they can do something for him. I don't want to lose him so soon.

Now I am crying again. I can't seem to stop. I feel a right idiot. Must look a terrible sight

Congratulations to you and your other half. In our changing world fewer people will reach this landmark.

Ann

Fingers crossed the vet finds no problem. I shed many a tear when my old cat had 2 fits and had to be put to sleep, so I know how you are feeling. They come into our life and enrich it.

Thank you all

Shadow is on the mend - My bank balence is on the downward slope

As soon as he was placed in his cat carrier - he started to perk up a bit & once at the vets he was very good - they took a few tests and did lots of proding & pokeing about - he did not like his temperature being taken - ended up with a large dose of anitbiotics and some Vitamin shots. We had to keep an eye on him for 12 hours and rush him back if he did not drink.

I gave him a jolly good talking to & he accepted a couple of spoonfulls of his favourite food and i swear he drank a bucket of water. since then he has been eating a little more - very small portions throughout the day. today is the first day we have left him on his own. He has a fresh bowl of food and water and a few treats. I await a text from the OH who is going to drop in 2 or 3 times during the day.

I will update you all as soon as I can.

Sally keep your chin up - I am sure he will be back home soon

So very glad to have good news of Shadow.

Did you see the 3 Horizon programmes? Both my cats watched some of it, attracted by the cats talking. Nikki appears to have learnt something too as all the rodents since the last programme have been presented to me dead :-D A big improvement on live rodents raoming the house.

In spite of the dreadful weather - think we have had at least 3 inches in the last 8 days and our road has flooded on at least 3 occasions - Nikki has caught 6 rodents. On Friday it was a very large wood mouse. On Saturday a large shrew. On Sunday she excelled by bringing me in quick succession. another shrew followed by a baby vole, then a large mouse and finally another baby vole minus head. I can be sure my bulb collection is well guarded :-)

Arthur

Thank you for your interest in Shadow

I am very please he does not tend to give me that kind of present

She is a real little hunter - what does her sister think of all this?

Our old cat use to love hunting & catching things but there was very little left after he got to them.

One day i came along the road & saw my White & black Burmese & The Ginger dumpling sitting opposite each other with what looked like a grey football between them

When I got closer i realised it was a pigeon – every time it moved its head one of them crept closer.

So i rushed down & told the pair of them off – bent down & scooped the poor thing up & took it in doors With both cats following me. I checked the pigeon over & he was just a bit frightened.

Popped him in an old box with an old scarf to sit on & took him out to the shed. Cats still following my every move.
Went back for a small dish of water and some fresh breadcrumbs. Left the pigeon to get himself sorted out.
Ginger lumpkin got fed up and moved off Berbs planted himself outside the shed. Three hours later he was still there.

Called him in for food & reluctantly he came in – i dashed out to the shed & the bird was walking about a bit - so i moved away from the door – he hoped out trotted about & then flew off.

As soon as Berbs finished his dinner he was back outside the shed again – so i had to let him in. The look on his face said at last Mum has done the right thing & let me at that furry thing. He sniffed all around & looked in the box & realised it had gone - he was so cross - wouldn’t sit on my lap for a couple of days.

I really miss that cat - he left us far too soon and very quickly - which was good for him but not me.

Oh well must get back to work

take care all

Hi Sue, and everyone

we are definitely into Fall here ................... wet and windy!

Yesterday (Monday) was Thanksgiving Day in Canada ................. turkey and the trimmings :-)

It was just OH and I .................... he asked the butcher if we could have a half turkey.

In the past that's been about 3½-4 lbs

This year ..................... 7½ lbs :-0

I think we are going to be freezing quite a lot of sliced white meat in meal-sized portions, for future use during the winter :-)

Glad to hear Shadow is improving, Anne

and to hear your stories, Arthur

Sallie ......... I hope your OH will be out of hospital soon xxxx

take care everyone
