The  $2.99 Special

We went to breakfast at a restaurant where the 'seniors' special' was two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $2.99.

'Sounds good,' my wife said. 'But I don't want the eggs.'

'Then, I'll have to charge you $3.49 because you're ordering a la carte,' the waitress warned her.

'You mean I'd have to pay for not taking the eggs?' my wife asked incredulously..

'YES!' stated the waitress.

'I'll take the special then,' my wife said..

'How do you want your eggs?' the waitress asked.

'Raw and in the shell,' my wife replied.

She took the two eggs home and baked a cake.

LOl Persie!

Now you lot have me worried what little monster will get up to! She is also a bit too smart and loves to talk to people (especially old people and men) so it takes forever...to go shopping and now she can open doors all by herself..she also tells me she is "Big girl now not baby" and everything is i do, Mummy, I can do..then a LOUD IDO IT!!!!! accompanied by tears and stomping the feet when it is generally something she can't do or will hurt herself!

Fanny I can send you my monster if you are bored when your little hurricane goes home!

I watched a show last night about troubled teenages and both of them were so nasty to their parents who looked completely bewildered and at a loss to understand who these children were..it was very sad because it looks like the way ahead for them may lead to jail..what a waste.

Nice one Pers!

Reminds me of when we went to a Little Chef a couple of years back. The menu was the basics...ham and eggs, steak and chips etc all meals being about £7.00

Nothing vegi for me so I asked if they could do me egg and chips...totally flumaxed the staff, after several conversations between them, the waitress came back

Yes we can do that.... .75p!!!

I got the best meal, two eggs and plate full of chips....result :-D

Morning Grace.....

Now for Brekkie:

Breakfast with a rice theme today.

Cold cereal: Ricies and Rice Bubbles. Hot: Swedish Rice Porridge.. this is served with hot raspberry conserve.... the traditional one has one blanched almond in it and is served on Christmas Eve and it is said that whoever gets the almond will marry before the next Christmas.

In the warmer:

Rice Griddle Cakes - These are like blinis or drop scones... served with butter, cream cheese or mascarpone or one or two of the sides.
Suppli al Telefono - Italian deep fried Rice and cheese balls. ( I get in a bit of a mess making these)

Smoked Fish Kedgeree
Oeufs au Riz Bénédictine - This is rice topped with thick ham steak and a poached egg and covered in mustard hollandaise sauce.

Sides: Mushrooms in garlic butter, baked beans, chorizo sausages, cooked tomatoes with sundried tomatoes and feta in it, hard boiled eggs, and fried Haloumi.

Lemon curd muffins, carrot, walnut and bran muffins, cheese and chive scones and onion bread which is gluten free.

Coffee, Tea, milo and cold drinks.

I think we have all been there Gracie...

My eldest was the one... she had to help me unload the car.. she was four going on five.. told not to carry in the eggs (they were loose in a brown paper bag) no I can do it...... me: No best you help elsewhere, her No I can carry the eggs in.... Me: would you leave them alone, Her : I will be alright grabs them and well luckily she dropped them on the grass and only two broke out of the 1/2 dozen I had bought, they could have all been smashed on the steps or path.

This is the same child who headed out her grandparents gate, they lived on a main busy road... I don't blame her... she was obsessed with Ernie and Bert out of Sesame Street and my father had told her he saw them on the back of "Morrison's Truck" .. Mr Morrison lived a couple of doors down and across the main road. It was the one and only time she went out that gate.

Grandpa got told off...grrh he was always joking with her and he had not thought through the consequences.
