Chuck me in the Don....but leave me whole thank you!

Thinking back to your posts on that funeral Fans - I think I would like you to taker this over for me.

I could do with a 'little laugh' and am sure his friends would appreciate your efforts too !!!

Indeed Dea - luckily we were in a position to pay but heaven knows what people would do otherwise. I know funeral companies offer "payment plans" so I guess that's what a lot of people have to do.

Most of our elderly relatives all had little insurance policies where they paid a small amount every week to the insurance man (they used to call weekly when I was little) so there was never any worry for the other relatives.

I seem to remember that my si-i-l got that for my brother

The cheapest casket you can get in a funeral directors is what?...£400 or thereabouts?

£110 for it wholesale...

Cheaper ones on the internet.

Its the "care of the body"that makes it add up along with the hire of the hearse and cars and flowers......We skipped all that bit except for one night in Funeral Parlour (on others insistence)and a hearse from there to Crem...

Dont start me off.....

But really it is because in this day and age no one wants to "care for"their own people.....All the old front parlours are now centrally heated,so its not possible....

Dea

Dea Report 16 Aug 2011 20:51

I won't 'start you off ' then Fans !!

I will just get on with what I feel is right but I DO really worry abut those who cannot afford to do it !!

Are they geting into debt for such an event ??

SO very sad !!!

Of course you must do what you feel is right Dea.....Everyone has different opinions and everyone is entitled to them.....

Yes,people do get into debt with it.....

My last husband lost both his parents in the space of 6 weeks back in 2000.....£6000 pounds to cremate both in London, one RC and one Cof E.....

We finished paying it,but it took a while....

It was what HE wanted......They were divorced and mum went first and dad was so ill we didnt even tell him his exwife had died suddenly...

And we were separated as well, but they were nice people, shame about himself though... :-S

So sad Fans !!

Have to go to bed now but my thoughts are with all those who are going through this without the 'funds' to do it !!!

I know that those in difficult circumstances can get help with the cost of a funeral as Fans said.

I also think that the person who books the funeral.....pays for it.

I am aware that many funerals are booked with undertakers but are not paid for........leaving the undertakers out of pocket. Some probably insist on money 'up front' because of this.

I know what you meant about marriage Dea and quite agree with you. Hope it all goes well tomorrow Dea. Will be thinking about you. <3

Gins.....don't know what your dad's views were but I was simply stating the official RC strictures.

Hi all,

Hope everyone is well. Thanks for your PM Cynthia, sorry I didn't mean to bore anyone about tlking about autism.

Have a graet trip Sylvia, enjoy yourself!

Dea

Dea Report 17 Aug 2011 06:52

You weren't boring us in any way Grace.

I think Cynthia meant that 'she' might bore us by putting too much detailed info on here which is more relevant to the person actually needing the help and advice (not that she would though - whatever she has to say on that subject is always very knowledgeable and interesting !!!).

One of the nicest things about this thread is that we can all talk about anything we want to and, because we are all such friends, it is always of interest.

Hope they 'get to grip' with their situation and learn to enjoy the good things and not just see the bad.
