Is anyone having the same problem that I am with the fan chart? I can print off the other two fine, but the fan chart has two blocks of black fading to grey over the bottom half of it. I thought it was only me, but Karen in Australia is getting the same. Anyone know why this is happening? Thanks Christine

Hi Christine Haven't tried that one but got the other two OK. The fan chart looked to complicated for my little brain. LOL I'll try it now though and maybe you can tell me how it works. Pat x

Cheers Pat. Thought it was my printer but as I said this other girl is having the same thing happen to her, so i don't know what it can be. Have a look at the chart. It's really basic, just start with say yourself and work outwards, parents, grandparents etc. Christine

OK Christine It looks very strange, you are right I am having the same thing happening to my print out, pity really as it looked pretty and I was hoping to find out how it works. But its a waste of time the way it is. Ah well at least you know its not Karen's or your printer if its happening to me as well it's got to be a clitche in the download. Pat x

Wonder why everyone else's is working. Maybe it's something to do with what kind of printer you have? Mine is a Lexmark X5250 All in one ? Christine

Hi Barry, I'm a real thicko with computers but yes it's set to show layout before it prints and that is fine. The other two charts print off perfectly, it's only the fan one. Any ideas? Christine

Barry the site has never allowed you to write .*com or .*co without the use of brackets or * Just anther little quirk of the site. Christine Right I'll try that Barry. Thanks

Thanks Barry Christine I have lexmark too its a Z53 and its a pain in the b** a lot of the time, it is expensive on the ink as I cannot buy the cheap ones for it, it very fussy. normally I can preview an image but not on acrobat I have changed my setting to landscape OK thanks for telling me GR and I am still getting those dark to ligh grey colours at the bottom just the same. Wasting ink now I can't be bothered I agree the GR LOGO and website address is a bit much. S** it I will put up with my other charts and the Ancestry ones that I have. Christine do you have Ancestry if not I can send chart images to you if you would be interested, they have their webiste address on them but don't over do it. Oh I saved it on my desktop as I did the others, I never print anything unless I save first. Pat x

This is getting silly now. Just tried saving it and trying as Barry said and just got the same again. Then i went to this site http://www.marthastewart.*com/images/pdf/family_tree.pdf which has one almost the same and it printed off no problem!! Weird or what? Thanks Pat for the offer but I was just curious about why this was happening. I've already printed of loads of these in the pastfrom various sites, but thanks again. Christine

Yeah me too, and I am only doing one tree but have more print outs than I have people to fill them, optimistic or what? I will try that link Christine seen as I'm a nosey b***er at heart, can't help myself. Now changing the subject completely sorry! I was waiting to hear how that poor lady in Glasgow was, did you hear anything more the poor 90odd year old with the loaf of bread? never heard a dicky bird. Hope they got the B***er and sort him out, (blimey the language is flying tonight). Pat x

Sorry Barry, now I am being dense, I don't know who she is, what did she do? (Just looked her up, some kind of insider trading I think) Pat, poor old dear she was on the local news tonight. How can someone even think about hurting an old woman like that? Cowardly scum. Makes me sick. Hope she gets through this alright, as you know at that age breaking her hip is a really bad thing. Hi Christine, I had exactly the same problem with the fan chart, but the other two were fine although the GC logo came out black too! I wonder why it is not the same for everyone? I too am not that bright when it comes to all this technical stuff, and actually don`t want to have to save as something else etc.etc. Surely it should just be a case of press print and the job is done? Would be interested to hear if anyone else has the same problem. Frances

We're trying to figure this out. What version of Adobe are you using?

PennyDainty

PennyDainty Report 23 Nov 2004 09:26

Hi Michelle, thank you for looking into this. I have adobe reader 6.0. BTW Great idea having the charts on here. Christine

Thanks for your response Chrstine. Here is what our tech person is saying: 'If you can find out which version of Adobe they have, and perhaps which Operating System (OS) they use (Mac or PC). This way we'll stand a chance of identifying the 'common' problem.' If anyone that is experiencing the black squares on the fan chart can answer this (either by posting) or sending a message directly it would be really helpful.
