After all the mental blocks and overwhelming I have felt trying to write up my medieval stuff, I think I may have cracked it.

At Christmas, I bought two fountain pens from an advert that popped up on my Face Book. Every night I am knocking out about five hundred words now.

Of course, I will have to type it all up on the computer and do a lot of twiddling and embellishing but the fountain pen was what I always used for essays and I think it must be what unlocks my mind.

I am still very overwhelmed by it but ,at least, I have made a start.

Great to hear of your progress, Sharron. Keep up the good work and maybe start on your stories of the sausage sandwich king too.

Thanks Allan.

Of course, there is no guarantee that it will ever get finished.

I have tried before but I think I might be a bit afraid of these damned new-fangled contraptions.

You won't want short stories from what I am trying to write up.

Licences to crenellate, prebends, double long-shore drift, eel bucks. Utterly gripping!

I do write a little article for the village magazine every month, most of which would make little sense outside the village but you are welcome to read some of those if you would like to. i could post them on here if anybody wants to read them.

You can try it out Sharron we might manage to follow along and if not at least you tried :-)

Gosh, 'Longshore drift' has awakened those horrific Geography lessons :-0

Googled 'eel bucks' - they're pretty impressive :-D

Even more specialist than keddles eh?

Gives you some indication of why I have felt like the only gay in the village doesn't it?Nobody up the pub seems to want to talk about it.

*Googles furiously*

Yes, much better than a gym!

*What the hell are keddles? Eel Bucks = fishing*

*Googes Keddles - fishing*

Yes, they look like more organisation is needed for the eel bucks.
However, it appears nothing can escape keddles :-(

Really, I only posted to show off about having a fountain pen.

It just feels so right doing it all in longhand through a nib. Really feels like I am writing something.

And then I will have to type it all up. Godddammit!

:-D :-D :-D :-D

I found a fountain pen yesterday - shame I was looking for a seam ripper!

I eventually found 2 seam rippers, and exchanged one for cat food :-D

I forgot to buy cat food and a neighbour, (I met at the bus stop) when trying to buy a seam ripper, was informed they were an 'offensive weapon', and the shop no longer sold them.
She's recently lost a cat and her remaining one is very fussy, so she had a couple of boxes of sachets I could have, for free.
Well, fair exchange is no robbery! :-D :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 5 Mar 2020 10:57

i think it might take a bit of time to inflict much damage with a seam ripper but best not to risk it I suppose.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 5 Mar 2020 11:08

Think of the damage you could do with a fountain pen!
I mean, just physically you could 'have someone's eye out'. :-D :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 5 Mar 2020 12:03

Their seams would be intact though!

Not sure why you have to type it out again. Surely you can scan it and upload it to the computer ;-)

Just read an interesting book "Pie and Mash down the Roman road "
Lots of information on eels

Sorry Sharron to go off topic :-0 ;-)

Sharron

Sharron Report 5 Mar 2020 13:06

Because I might be alright at medieval but my technical abilities leave much to be desired.

Scan it and upload it, Doubt I could even if I knew what it meant. I can use a fag hook though!

That book looks interesting, I could read that.

It is very difficult to find out about the life of eels and it might not even be true about the Sargasso Sea.
