Belatedly, for which I apologise as I thought this thread was.....slowly diminishing in intensity. Obviously not.

Therefore, having just about had about enough of the constant petty sniping, I thought I'd just add my little piece, because 'one' is becoming just a tad annoyed ((is that a Welsh saying??)) regarding the overspill from here.

Pasted below (coz I wrote it 'offline') is what I felt concerning posts a little earlier on, one in particular as will be obvious.

Although I agree the likes of Newport (Gwent) and Port Talbot are less than desirable places to visit, your vehemence exuding from your post I find less than admirable.

Nowhere on this thread has there been an 'attack' against an English location, with perhaps the exclusion of references to Wolverhampton. Actually a place I know, as a SiL used to live there.

If I were to look at England as you appear to be looking at Wales, then perhaps I should draw your attention to Liverpool, Manchester, Leicester, Blackpool, Portsmouth, Derby etc. etc. Like nearly all places, some parts nice, some parts far from it.

But at least in Wales, we actually don't have to go far to get from the 'not nice' to the 'very nice', possibly unlike you. I don't know. Frankly, I don't care.

If you fancy a discussion on the pro's and con's of locations within the two Nations, start a new thread.

For the rest, if you don't like what JLC posts, well you know you don't have to read them, let alone respond.

You may think you are offering a 'riposte', but in some posts you are beginning to antagonise those of us (i.e. me) who actually, funnily as it may seem to some, Love our Country.

Re places in Wales and England.....One of the most beautiful views, in Wales, the Mawddach estuary, is possibly more beautiful than any other place I have yet seen ( with perhaps the exception of Konigsee (lake) in Germany).

There are plenty of unfriendly or unpleasant places and people in both Wales and England ( probably Scotland too but I've never been there).

Travel, if you can, see it all, the good and bad...because if you don't, if you stay in your own little corner, you miss SO much :-) even if that is only to learn how much you love your own country in comparison to everywhere else :-)

Rose. When I was 20, I had a little car and a tent and me and brother spent some weeks travelling all round Britain including John O Groats and Lands End, Scarborough and St Davids..

The nicest people by far were in the far north of Scotland - from Fort William up. We must have looked like two fairly scruffy young yobs in a beat up old Ford Popular worth £40. But we were treated with total kindness everywhere we went - Fort William, Tongue, Bettyhill, Wick, Thurso down to Inverness. And weather was great, beaches were stunning and scenery was (nearly) as nice as Wales :-D

...though, Sue, what about an 'undercover Druid' at the next Eisteddfod ? I've gotta green sheet you could tailor for me ??? No ???? :-D
