Hi Everyone

I see we have gone a little quiet for now .

I must say I do not like the new Genes, when I post my new message it goes back to the beginning of the thread again !! what is all that about and the new help clinic is just another Trying to find board.

I don't think it is too popular either, why do they have to mess around with things all the time.

I have been busy putting up my Chrissie Decs ,I have finished the inside but I will need help with the outside lights ,I draw the line on getting on the roof of the house, this is where tthe Grandsons come in.

Must get into the present 's side of things soon only four weeks to go and I have not bought anything yet.

Genes are going to give us births now without buying credits, must say I find Ancestry much better for that and I was informed yesterday that Ancestry are getting the 1911 Census that will be great as well, loading as we speak onto there site.

Well I am off shopping today ,a warm 27c for us so a bike ride will be just the shot.

Hi all

we just realised that it is now less than 3 weeks before we get on the train to go to see the daughter ..... the train leaves at 8:30 pm on Dec 14!

Most of these changes are driving me crazy ..... and you can't get any response from GR either.

I'd love to have the actual time back.

We have another snow warning for tonight and tomorrow (Thursday) morning into early afternoon ..... upto 5-10 cm. THEN the temperature will begin to rise, and it will start to rain!

we're suposed to go out to a reception tomorrow night (Thursday) ............. seriously thinking we won't be going!!

Kitchen is fully functioning ........ sink was installed and dishwasher hooked up on Monday afternoon. We're not going to try painting it until we get back after Christmas!

we're going out for dinner on Friday to celebrate the kitchen!

Hi all

Have you noticed that GR has managed to correct some of the technical problems?? AND they have removed that Help Clinic, and turned it into a board to tell people how to get better use of the site. Including acknowledging that all the help is provided by volunteer members!

HURRAH!

Sue .. glad to hear that OH is improving.

Snow started falling at about 2 am this morning, it's still snowing at noon, and is supposed to continue until late afternoon / early evening ................... when it will turn to RAIN!

Maximum amount expected is about 10 cm ............... I think we have about 7 cm at the moment.

It is about -1C now, but will reach about +2C by this evening .... hence the rain!

OH cleared the sidewalks at the front of the hoose and down the side (we're a corner house), and the path to the front door ................. and then left at about 8 am to drive out to the university.

It is Fall Graduation time .... 8 ceremonies spread over 3 days (today is the middle day). He is the Student Marshall, responsible for leading the students into the hall, and then making sure they get across the stage to get their degree.

Main streets here are ploughed and sanded, constantly, and seem to be in good form. But side streets are just left alone.

We are supposed to be attending a reception this evening out at the university, part of Fall Graduation .......... I have decided I am not going, OH said he might go even if I didn't. We get invited to it as a thank you to OH for what he does .................... the only "payment" that he and the other volunteers for Grad get!

We can get out and about ............... although I tend not to go out, as I feel uncertain walking on snow and ice.

It is currently warmer in Halifax than here. BUT they do get nor-easters, and are notorious for the snow they can get. It is one reason why we prefer to go by train ........ the airport is always being closed in winter for snow. There has been a blizzard each time we have spent Christmas over there in the past. J says we won't be allowed to go any more if there is another one this year!

Take care everyone

Hi all.

Well Anne, the Help Clinic board has taken on a new look which seems to be much better. I think most people who help on the boards will be happier now and normal service can be resumed.....until the next time...lol

Sue, it seems awfully early to be putting up the decs......I don't do it until about the week before Christmas...mind you, I am always glad when January comes round to be honest and I can take them down. I find the Christmas period quite stressful what with one thing and another. Real killjoy I am!

Sylvia, does that mean you will be out of communication for a while or will you be able to keep in touch via your daughter's computer?? It's good to know that your kitchen is finally completed apart from the painting....what a time you have had with it.

Have had a somewhat sobering day. One of my best friends is not well but we don't really know what the problem is. I went to see her this afternoon and she is so upset at the state she is in. Came home with a heavy heart and a sombre mood.

We keep getting those awful warnings about snow and my heart sinks each time I hear them.......I just don't want any of that white stuff at all.

Robert, keep that shell of yours well insulated won't you?

Frank, it's time for your sporran to go into hibernation now I think.

Just found a little piece of Turkish Delight languising on the table.....can't let that go to waste can I? Mmmmm delish.

Keep in touch everyone....Love. Cx.

FRANK06 Report 25 Nov 2010 20:46

Cynthia,

Have you finished the Turkish Delight already , it's supposed to be kept for christmas.

Mind you if it's the real stuff, then it is dificult to resist the beautiful scent.

We just realised that it is now 3 weeks before we get on the plane to go to see our American grand daughter ..... theplane leaves at 6.05 am on Dec 16 !!!
Need to get out of bed about 03.00 in the morning!!

We'll wave to you as we pass overhead Sylvia.

Don't worry Cynthia, I'll still be in touch from the other side.............

I'm just back from telling someone to go on the help clinic to get assistance from the starry ones and the've gone...........

Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

Was it??

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 25 Nov 2010 21:07

Still be in touch from the other side??? Is there something we should know Frank? Should we all be sitting round a table holding hands?

The Turkish Delight was the last piece of a large bar which I had been working my way through this week. Unfortunately, I sat on it the other night but it was perfectly fine after a rest in the fridge overnight!!! It was still in it's wrapper by the way.....lol

So both you and Sylvia will be absent.............it will certainly be quiet round here then!

Bye ~~~~~~~

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Nov 2010 21:45

Hi

Frank
..... we should be somewhere in Saskatchewan or Manitoba by then! I'll wave back

Hope you ahve a great time.

When do you leave? We leave Halifax on Dec 29 ......... so we might well be on the train somewhere as you fly overhead again!

C ...... I will be incommunicado

..... son-i-l is very protective of his computer and I never feel comfortable doing more than checking my email. J would be more accepting, but not M

snow is easing off ............ but now they're talking freezing rain, sleet, etc this evening

Oh YUCK

Sylvia,

We leave again on the 27th as it's back to work on the 29th then New Year with our Scottish grandaughter.........hey it's all go.

By the way Cynthia, Sylvia and I will be separated by about 30,000 feet so rest assured that there is nothing untoward in our both being missing at the same time.

Sylvia will be going that way >>>>>> with her chicken legs while I'll be throwing vol au vents out of the window going this way <<<<<< and never the twain shall meet.............

Sylvia, I think it's time you introduced your s-i-l to your w-r-p.

It's flown past my ear a few times.

Of course he may just be worried about you drooling over the keyboard ;))

Snow in the north east (Aberdeen etc) so I think you are ok for a ffew days Cynthia.

Not too sure about poor Robert down the east coast but he can always microwave the sporran !!

Anne, I think you are getting away with it for the time being.

Cynthia, We shall remain in touch in spirit.

Hands across the sea................ but we would need a heck of a big table.

P.S. Was that an extremely flat piece of Turkish Delight then.

Happy thanksgiving.................

Hi Everyone

Nice to have you all chatting away again.

Cynthia only doing the Decorations early because the OH can't help at the moment but I got it done sooner than I thought.

The lights outside can wait a while for the Grandsons to get on the roof for us,Rob has no chance doing it this year.

Frank I hope the snow stays away for you but I don't like the chances of that and poor Robert all alone in that cave I hope he keeps nice and warm.

Sylvia so glad your Kitchen is all done it must have beeb terrible having it out of action for so long,I hope you were easy on the take awayt hat would have been my way of copeing.

Have not heard from Kiwibird in a while.the mine explosion in New Zealand is really shocking and those poor men could not have been saved,I think there was 29 dead in that mine disaster.
From what I have heard the coal is burning in the mine and the gases that are building up explode, there was a third one today.

Turkish Delight is so nice but Frank is correct the real stuff has a wonderfull purfume,I buy it from time to time .

Cricket just gone off for bad light and pooring with rain so have to wait until tomorrow .
It is being played in Brisbane that is over the other side of the country,5 hour flight from Perth.

Better get on with my housework, did you buy your snow shovel Cynthia.

Love to everyone

Hi Everyone, It's been a long time but I am back.
I see the Snow is falling where you are Sylvia.
Do wrap up warm.
After an appalling winter and early Spring here, November has been a superb month with loverly sunny days and temps between 16 and 22 Celsius.

Susan is right True Turkish delight is perfumed because it is made with Rosewater. I adore this confection and when I was a child my Mother used to make it Along with Chocolate fudge and Coconut Ice for Cake Stalls and Fetes.

Am in the middle of making A large Devil's Food Cake for my OH'S 60th Birthday Party tomorrow.
Must get back to it otherwise it will not be cooked before bedtime.

Take care catch you all later. Josie

Robert - I have to join Cynthia on this one - snow or not - you have to pop out for your party

Susan you are only winning because rain stopped play - we had you on the run (sort of)

Cynthia - not a fan of Turkish Delight - hope it didn't squish too much

Josie - nice to have you pop back in again

Sylvia - glad the Kitchen is OK - hope you have a fantastic time at your Daughters - I know its a bit early but

Frank - Will be thinking of you in Washington - you lucky thing - wish it was me - i would love to go there

The Ouija board does not need to be that big - but not much use on our own - we need to at least have a couple of people together somewhere for it to work

I still have the Large HELP Clinic thingy - so no idea what is happening on GR

Wonderful news about Ancestry having the 1911 - but it won't be just yet shame

WHERE IS EVELYN - have you gone into hibernation as well

Well working tomorrow & i am on the emergency contingency list in case we do get snow - but hope they won't call me for Sunday - i need one day off

Well back to work - took a long time just reading through all the info on here

That wasn't Robert snoring,

It was the mountain rescue using their chainsaw to cut through all the frozen ice and snow in an attempt to free him from the cave he calls home.

They needn't bother as I'm sure that Robert is well stocked up with all his supplies and if he feels threatened then he will just burrow down deeper ;))

You lot are worse than the Sirens, trying to lure in the poor unfortunates to their doom.

Let Robert enjoy his peace and goodwill.................. in peace ;)

Cynthia Report 26 Nov 2010 21:52

Robert is our Venerable friend Frank.......it is only right that we celebrate with him on his special occasion. We will keep it quiet and dignified......just going to order the balloons!

I hope it doesn't snow where you are Anne - I can remember the probs your OH had last year and I guess you want to avoid that happening again at all costs.

Hope everyone else is okay. Cx

FRANK06

FRANK06 Report 26 Nov 2010 23:19

Cynthia,

I don't think the venerable Robert would be enamoured with a bunch of balloons arriving at his cave door unless they had a carry out !

A carry out........... Cairry-oot

a selection of refreshments usually conveyed in a plain brown paper bag, the modern equivilent probably being a Tesco bag for life ;)
