Morning all - think I may have over slept its 11am - very late for me to tread theses boards - too early fro lunch break.

Oops silly me - not at work - they didn't want me in on OT - good to have a break - not so for the bank account.

Welcome Arthur - Please join us - Robert can have a Plymate - don't be disheartened Evelyn - Robert is off all girls at the moment

I too love all the banter between us & nice to see Evelyn back to her normal self - have to admit to a giggle or two - had a vision of Sylvia In the hospital bed with Shocking Pink Boa around neck - new hair do & everyone thinking there was a Candy floss in the bed.

We went shopping early this morning - do we have any betting people here - I need some odds. What odds woudl you give for this to happen .

Found a till with only one person & he had nearly finished - so we started loading - the chap was disccusing birthdays with the girl on the desk - he said "oh you must be the next day then, I am on the cusp - only just in Libra" She said "Oh whats the odds of that tow people on the one till with birthdays one day apart" So I joined in & said in that case add in two more Libra's & get the odds for that one

The chap said very strange what dates are you - so I said both on the 24th with 7years & 12 hours between us - Well you could have knocked them down with a feather.

Whats the odds on 3 people all born on the 24th of the same month being at the checkout on the same till at the same time & the girl serving with a birthday a day later. Far too much of a co-incidence.

Well we seem to have a weekend off & it rains

OOps must go OH needs computer help

Take care all :-0 ;-) <3 <3 <3

Good day everyone,
I have been very naughty today, Ron is feeling quite good today and asked me if I wanted to go to a local booksale this morning ( I knew the sale was not until this afternoon) so I said no, I thought it would do him good to have some me time and the walk would do him good, anyway he set off, left me chuckling over a cup of coffee, I even gave him some money and a bag into which he could put his newly acquired books, half an hour later he arrived home telling me the sale is not on until this afternoon, I am hoping for an Oscar as I acted really surprised, think I got away with it. The exercise will do him good, better than being glued to his chair. He is now sound asleep watching T V,thats multi tasking for you.
I need to go and do some food shopping, wonder if I can be there and back before Ron wakes up.
Butter and double cream are top of the shopping list.
Love to you all my friends and thank you for your support

Evelyn - you naughty girl and how very kindly devious of you. I'm quite good at sending my OH on little missions too.... :-D

Results of today's little expedition to Dun Elm Mills........

A new set of canisters for the kitchen - which with red poppies on (my kitchen is red/white/black.

A new bath mat for use when visitors arrive (the present one has bleach marks on it).

A clear plastic box for storing shoes.

Daughter bought new towels - purple - to match her bathroom and a new table lamp.

I could spend a fortune there....if I had a fortune to spend that is.

Am considering buying one of those quirky mattress covers which go to the shape of your body etc.etc. has anyone got one?

Love to all. Cx.

OH is out at a kind of conference today ............... a celebration of the retirement of one of his friends, someone quite high up in the university, and very well thought of in zoology circles. There are symposia and talks all day, then a dinner tonight.

The guy was born in Africa, and he and his wife will retire there ............ they have been building their retirement home near the Serengati.

So I've got lots of lovely me time :-D

If anyone fancies a challenge, can you please find John Thomas Muirson on the 1871 Census, or his death before then.

He married Hannah Maria Nicholls in 1867 in Camden

On 1871 Hannah is shown with her parents, Robert & Mary.

My patience is exhausted.

Thanks in advance.

Just going to settle down and, hopefully, watch my team win.

Well done FBG, you really are a star.
Very wet and windy here on the island, glad not to be going out as I have no anchors, though I do have quite a lot of fat that I would be better without.
Ron is having an O K day watching T V as he rests his eyes today he is snoring as well my goodness he really is good at multi tasking.
He bought quite a few books yesterday afternoon at the book sale, hasnt taken them out of the bag yet so no fear of him reading them sometime soon, well at least it got him out of the house so that is a bonus.
Much love to you all

Hi Everyone

Old ....I Told you we were good on here didn't I...well done FBG.
I hope you stick around for a while .

Evelyn that was very clever of you to get the OH outside for a while,it will be great for him to have some fresh air and mix with the public again.

We have had a very wet and stormy weekend and I so glad we got the Gardening done before it hit ....the rain has washed in all the fertilizer in to the plant .
Our Football team won the other night so now we are in the semi finals so another nerve racking game to sit through,it really gets me so nervous that sometimes I have to walk out of the room.
This is why I love the Cricket more as it is not so nerve racking to watch.

Still raining outside and my weather station is working a treat 35ml of rain yesterday, for us that is a lot.

Doing roast Pork tonight, like to feed the OH he works harder that way ,only joking I like to spoil him a bit he is very good .

So hooked on this Moving To The Country show from the UK,the country homes for sale are beautiful and so cheap We could not believe our eyes ,Now he wants to buy one and live in the UK for a few years.
For one I don't want to and I don't think they would let us buy property there.
My OH is Australian and I have duel citizenship, I was born there.

Enough of that I can't see hom leaving our Grandchildren anyway.

Better get the baked Potatoes on.

I started a thread Marriage and Death on 'Finding ancestors', to try to find the death of Sarah Redgewell. She was married to Peter Nicholls, a brother of my 3 x Great Grandfather.

Peter like his father, also Peter, married twice. In both cases it appears to be because he had very young children.

I have two suggested deaths for Sarah and would appreciate your thoughts on how I might be able to verify which one is correct.

Sarah Nichols
England and Wales, Non-Conformist Record Indexes (RG4-8)
burial:10 Sep 1822Bethnal Green,? Middlesex
name:Sarah Nichols
event type:Burial
burial date:10 Sep 1822
burial place:Bethnal Green, Middlesex
record set:RG8_0309

Name: Sarah Nicholls
Record Type: Burial
Estimated Death Date: abt 1825
Burial Date: 13 Mar 1825
Age: 44
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1781
Parish or Poor Law Union: Southwark Christ Church
Borough: Southwark

Peter's second marriage details:

Name: Peter Nicholls
Spouse Name: Mary Henniker
Record Type: Marriage
Marriage Date: 12 Jun 1825
Parish: St John at Hackney
County: Middlesex
Borough: Hackney

Peter & Sarah's last two children were baptised in Southwark, making the March 25th 1825 burial favourite - but very close to the marriage.

Hi Everyone

Arthur I think you may be better off staying with the thread you started in the first place ,I would keep nudging up just in case anyone looking for you on Finding Ancestors is still keeping an eye out for any other info that comes up.
I can't find a marriage for Peter Nicholls and Sarah Redgewell but there is one for Peter Nicholls and a Sarah Richbell 1808 in Limehouse, are you sure of this marriage.

I have a big day of ironing today ,it is still raining so I am in thre best place for it,hope there is a good midday movie on today.

Morning all - 5am start for the next three days - so time to chat - hopefully

Gosh its been very fulll on here - don't know where all the work comes from - i seem to be busy all day - but have very little to show for it at the end of the day.

Never mind - I have a week off next week - please don't all faint at once

Managed to get my freebie weekend away - not the hotel i wanted - but beggers can't be choosers - very greatful for what I get & two lots of two freebie nights away in one year is amazing.

i know this hotel won't be as glam as the ones we went to before - but at least OH will feel more at home - he hates going tot he 5* properties - this one is a 3/4* with delusions of grandure - it charges 4* prices - but is very tucked away in the country.

To quote from the website " A beautiful Jacobean Manor House standing in 14 acres of grounds on the outskirts of the medieval wool town of Bradford-on-Avon in Wiltshire, Woolley Grange was a family home for 400 years before becoming the first Luxury Family Hotel in 1989."

Well i don'tcare if its not up to our clients standard - it will be a lovely weekend away for our birthday & I have saved up to splash out on a bottle of wine with dinner on saturday for our birthday treat. We get a free 3 course meal on the first night & breakfast each day. It will be nice to feel as though we are getting a holiday this year.

OH is 60 next year & would love to go back to the US for a holiday - I would love to take him but the cost is astronomical - unless we get lucky on the lotto in the next 9 months. Well you have to have a dream don't you.

Off to sort out a few things while the phones are silent.

Take care all

Good day everyone.
Fingers crossed and hope all goes well for Our Sylvia.
Ron is Multi tasking in his chair again, he said he doesnt feel too good today but that is quite usual at this stage of his treatment so I am not worried unduly.
Cant believe Anne is going to have time off from work, I am sure she will get withdrawal symtoms.
It puzzles me how I ever had time to go to work, life seems so busy at the moment that I couldnt possibly fit anymore in, though even now I miss the company.
Lots of odd jobs calling me so I am going to put cotton wool in my ears and sit and read a book.
Love to you all

Susan

I think that Richbell could be a badly written Redgewell.

Was not transferring my other thread to here, but thought your expertise might help me when attempting to verify a death - always before 1837 so more difficult.

FBG I did not thank you properly for the info on the Muirsons.

Hannah Maria is the first person in the Nicholls family that has been found in a workhouse. Wonder what the circumstances were that forced her into the workhouse - no immediate family and apparanetly deserted by husband. At least no children involved.

Not my direct line, but still sad.
