Is there a point...?

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 15 Sep 2011 12:38

Hello Old, could you be a little more specific please?

Josie, really hope you get the job you want. Here's hoping. :-D

I can see Anne ending up with a squashed nose soon....it's always pressed to that grindstone.... :-D

A pick and mix day today.........some sorting out, some buying of wallpaper, some visiting, some ironing.....all keeps the adrenalin flowing I suppose.

Take care all. Cx

Not sure how the content relates to the title - no wonder previous versions were removed by Genes - and I am not an old misery, just looking for help

Cynthia Report 15 Sep 2011 18:05

Hello Old,

The first post on this thread contains some helpful Tips for new members - the rest of the thread is simply chatter between other members. Each time someone posts on here, it moves it back to the top of the board for the Tips to be seen again.

This thread was given the go-ahead from the Genes team last year.

I'm sure you're not miserable and I hope you are getting the help you are looking for.

Hello Everyone,
Been to the hospital with Ron today for his chemo then we saw the Oncologist who had good news for us, Rons tumours have shrunk considerably he has also put on some more weight, he is now 10st 2lb (all the double cream I keep putting in his food). We know there is no cure for Ron but at least this will give him some extra time and make him more comfortable.
Must get some food ready as I am very hungry.
Love to you all
Evelyn XX
Welcome to Old, nice to hear from you, please pop in often there are some super people on this thread

Just popped in and delighted to see your wonderful news for both you and Ron, Evelyn. Keep up the good work.

Hello to Old - are you really? I'm a little over 2 weeks older than Robert! Since he has retired from our "forum" to keep this thread on view to anyone new or just wondering "how to..." I feel that I can safely and truly say - yes, I am old but you know that saying " you're never too old to...." now what was that??? The people on here are very kind and extremely helpful.

Keep feeding him Evelyn the stronger he is the better he will fight...that's my motto anyway.
Love to you both now if we can just find your Mothers family?

Morning all 7am again but at least its warm & dry & sun beginning to show itself & I am doing my own work for a change

Evelyn wonderful news - keep up the good work & double cream

Morning Reece - your only as old as you feel

Sue & Cynthia - hope you get your work finished early & have time to put your feet up.

Cynthia the nose needs some flattening - bit bumpy in places.

OLD- well what can I say - Cynthia answered perfectly - you don't have to join in you can leave us all madly chatting away - sometimes its even about our trees & family history.

Between us we have years of experience on the family history circuit - I alone have over 23 years experience & the odd qualification & we have helped hundreds of people through the years. We still do.

And on that note - i will bluster away & get on with my bits & pieces in the peace & quiet.

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 :-) ;-) ;-) ;-) <3 <3 <3 <3

And you wonder why I have resigned!!!

I do not want to associate with a bunch of old fogies.

Hi Old - I am one of the original miserable people- I hate Christmas, I hate birthdays - I could go on and on and on.

Oh Heck I have just been rejected by Robert, I am too old

Old

Old Report 16 Sep 2011 14:50

Hi Everyone,

Although very interested in filling out my Family Tree, other things take priority during the summer months. I am a keen grower of all things bulbous and like to repot every year. This takes for ever.

I came back to the Boards to have one more attempt at finding my cousins who I lost contact with in the early seventies. I am hoping that they might have family photos - particulalryl my Mum when she was a child, her mother and her father. I posted September 13th, and someone using lateral thought gave me an address for my cousin's daughter. I have written today and hope my cousin will contact me shortly.

I have also spent most of the last few days working on the Family Tree and rereading the brick walls. The most difficult thing I find is killing people off. I have a couple of instances where the Father has married for a second time and I cannot find the death of the first wife. These have occurred prior to 1837. Again thanks to really helpful people one of the deaths appears to have been found.
Tracking birth years can be difficult prior to 1837 even using IGI. I am back to 1750 with my direct line, but cannot go further back with any certainty.

The Nicholls family 'originated' in Sudbury, Suffolk, and were, to my total surprise, Barge Builders. Very large families with most surviving into adulthood. One of the Nicholls moved to London around 1820 and continued Barge Building in Southwark. would love to find out more on this.

Have traced lines from several of my Great Great Great Grandfather's brothers and it is curious how there are parallels between the different lines.

Now must return to try to rescue my garden from neglect. The sun is shining and all is well with my world. Thankfully it is raining in Cardiff or I might be tempted to watch the cricket.

Hello Arthur.....it sounds as though our Ven. Robert may have a new playmate to help him with this gaggle of women. You notice I am ignoring the term 'old fogies'. Robert loves us really though.. :-D

It sounds as though you are doing well with your tree Arthur and, if you have any particular probs we can help with.....which you haven't already posted on the boards....I am sure someone will help you.

It started off quite nicely here this morning but now it is pouring with rain...oh dear...never mind, we would be moaning if the reservoirs were empty!

I too am going off to look at anomaly on my tree......how can someone who died c1914 have fathered a couple of more children in 1917 ? Something amiss here I think.... :-S

Evelyn, don't let that rejection get to you <3

Welcome Arthur

C .................. well, officialdom did consider the husband to be the father of all children born to his wife

even if he'd been dead for 10 years! :-D

now the question is ........... did she have them baptised, and did the vicar then add a little note to the margin of the parish register???

it's turned cool here, and we had a cople fo heavy showers late yesterday.

Rain forecast for the next few days :-(

I got a prezzie yesterday

from daughter

made by her own fair hands, by loom knitting

a fluorescent pink boa (or short stole)

you know, that fluorescent pink they use for breast cancer things?

It actually has a certain attractiveness to it ........ though OH did say "Oh my gawd" when he saw it!

She also sent a card that was filled with little tiny pink and white "ribbons", tied in open bows.

The envelope had a warning "open Carefully". So I opened it over the sink, but managed not to spill any

Cynthia Report 16 Sep 2011 22:17

Nothing in the baptism register Sylvia, not for this one anyway. I do have an annotation for another member of the family though :-D

This child was born two years after the father died. Guess mum was a tad lonely ;-)

What a thoughtful gift from your daughter - you can wear it with pride and love. Mind you, if you run a temperature, you may look like candyfloss!

Night all. Cx.
