Bit of a strange time F in L not very good at all, cant see him going home and M in L missing him and over doing the weekend with all the family around. At 92 she did too much and had a funny turn.

Then we lost lovely Anton from come dancing. Cough still there getting annoying now.

What a weekend and a full working week to go too.

Well, my garden has never seen such action! :-D :-D :-D
My makeshift feeding station has gone down a treat.

All it is, is an old line prop, sunken a little into the garden and secured with large stones. Then I forced the thinnest end of a branch of an old tree through the hook, with the thicker end lodged in the privet.
I had bought 2 feeders from the £1 shop for small birds. One with seeds, that had small perches one each side, where they can access the seed. The other contains 3 fat balls. They can access these through the plastic, which they can grip on to.

Before securing the structure, I hooked on the feeders to the branch, one each side of the prop, making doubly sure they were secure by using an old boot lace.

First my sparrows came, then a robin and 2 blue tits (could have been great tits).
Then some thrushes sent them packing.

Then some very large blackbirds (could have been young jackdaws) decided to have a go. They were so funny as they tried to balance on the tree branch upside down!
A silver grey wood pigeon was very interested too. All day long they have been back and fore- best £2 I have spent in a while lol :-D :-D :-D

Thank you all for your kind words - the in laws have been together over 77 years & she is finding it hard to be apart.

Loved the story of the bird feeders - we have a couple of very cheeky squirrels who tease my cat something rotten - i have the torn curtains to prove it.

77 years is a very long time. How dreadful for Mum-In-Law, it must be devastating for her.

The birds have now finished all the fat balls, so I have sent OH to a nearby bargain shop to get refills, and to look for something suitable for the bigger birds.
The jackdaw is so funny trying to hover while he tries to get at the food lol :-D

Must tell you the story for the Squirrel & the Black cat one day - it will give you a laugh.

M in L is trying to come to terms with the fact he wont come home again - the Dementia is quite bad and he cant really do anything for himself now & she is quite frail herself . At the moment it takes all her energy to look after herself. All she really wants is to be able to go & sit with him when she wants instead of waiting for someone to take her to the hospital.

Funny old day today - damp but not raining - lots of noise around too for no reason.

Cat has decided its a duvet day today & been curled up on it nearly all day - he is now on my old needlework footstall with his lovely red fleece on top. I reupholstered the top & its very soft and warm. The bright scarlet shows off his silky black fur. really cute

He has decided its his and gets very upset if I try & use it too - he even takes some of his toys up with him & cuddles up to them.

I miss having pets. We have had cats and a lovely dog, who we lost to cancer some time ago. We've decided against having another for the time being.

The birds are still enjoying their food, especially the fat balls! They are going through 3 every two days, so it's just as well they are quite cheap locally :-D
