Im still trying to get on it..

I've just tried to get on ..and went straight in. I agree that it's a bit strange,but there is a notice on the home page that it was set up for "Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0" . If you are not using this version you MAY experience loss of certain functions on the site. I suppose this could mean: not being able to access the site, or not being able to navigate round it! How strange!

Has anyone found deaths outside of 1983 to 2001? Bob

bob not found anything before about 1996 and found nothing at all for my family. Seems very hit and miss

Hi everyone, I've just been on the site and it lists my mother under her married name and my father. This is very spooky. Is there any way we can find out who put these names in? Jane

and so far I have not found any Scottish deaths

Just found my sister on there aswell she died in 1998. Feel rather upset about it. If you put the cursor on the death date it tells in you years and months how long ago they died. All the deaths seem very recent. Sorry if thats already been said, have'nt read all the replys yet. Seeing my sister on there has rather knocked me for six. Why are all the women under their married names? Jane

That's the name that normally appears on death certs Jane. (by the way the reason I asked about 2001 is that's the date 1837 ends.) Bob

No Susie. I'm having the same problem - and I have Internet Explorer 6, so that's not the problem. I think the site can't cope with too many people trying! Janet

It is possible to get on you just have to keep trying. I think the site is immoral as with a big disjointed family this is not the way to find out someone is dead who you have been attempting to track down for years.

Sorry Bob, Did'nt read all the replys. Understand that part a bit better now. Still very strange though. The buzz you get from finding deaths of distant relatives fades completly when you see information like this about very close recently dead family, especially when you have'nt posted it yourself, and don't know where it has come from. It seems you get a few minutes and then it just stops (don't know the technical term). I can't understand why anyone would want to gather such information!!! I suppose us talking about it is reason enough. Seems a little bit sick to me!!!

Just emailed Fred Truter who owns the site. He says the information came from a contributer who uploaded 3.5 millions names and dates of births and deaths in bulk. Has'nt said who the contributer was though. Have emailed him for the name. Jane

Worried!! Finally got on to this site and clicked on my Brother's name the dates and place are correct ---just wonder how they got their and it is upsetting as he committed suicide!!! Has any one got to the bottom of this?? Upset Ann,Darlington

I have managed to get on the site but how do you search, all it is coming up with is foreign surnames and I cant find a search page. Debbie
