I have also had a look at this website. My father is on it, but his date of death is given as 03/1998. He actually died on 28th February 1998, so I wonder how accurate their facts and their English are, as his place of death was also a bit strange on this site. Sue

Just thought about Theresa's comment. I think the records were stored electronically from about 1983.(This is when they stopped dividing into quarters) Perhaps someone has hacked into the records! Bob

This has got to be the most intriguing and FRUSTRATING website around! (Sorry to shout)!! I persisted though! I kept getting 'website not available' or a 'timeout error' while searching. Perhaps we were all trying at the same time? I found an uncle - mother's brother - who died in Birmingham, but couldn't find other uncles who had died within the past 5 years. I then tried some of the old folk from the village who had died within the past 2 years, and found some, but not others. The ones I did find were shown as having died at 'Wellingborough' which is our registration district, and about 9 miles away from the village. I suspect that this is information from the death registers, although I can't work out how they also had your uncle's nickname Janet!? I suppose the data protection act doesn't apply to people who have died? If anyone finds out any more information, PLEASE let us all know!

Have noticed if you hover the mouse after the age born it says how old they would be now and after the died bit there comes up a reference number...

This site can't be taken form death notices. If that were so, then where do they get the date of birth from. Also the number of names that this site contains (thousands) would mean looking through hundreds of regional newspapers or records. If this site is legit. where are the contact details, the info on where the names were taken from and why would the names of the people who started it (baring in mind it is supposed to be a UK SITE) be foreign!regards Jayne

At last! I finally got onto the site this morning and can only find one entry for my family but all the others died before 1996. There were no newspaper notices at the time. I have also looked up a wife of a friend and she is on there and I know that there is no way he would ever have put her details in anywhere on the net. The photos I have had appear all look a bit American.

The 3 photos I saw were not accompanied by names.

Theris no requirement to place death notices. Where there is a substantial estate however, it is standard practice to place a notice in the local newspaper and The London Gazette to protect against late claims. Bob

I have just entered the name of a child that died in 1997. The correct date of birth came up but the date of death was over 2 months out. It has also been entered twice with identical details. Anyone had a reply from the site yet?
