Can't come to your gathering folks as I am too far away, and on Tues 31 I head for Canada with a bunch of Guiders, but really want to come to Scotland sometime to see where my Edinburgh Heatherills lived, breathed - and drank (not to mention the womanizing!!) if family tales are to be believed!! Jill - Have been reading this thread - blether I can understand - but "A WEE SWALLY" - has me wondering!! Have a feeling it might tie in with my ancestors passion for a tipple - am I right? Hope all of you who meet up have a really great time!! Maggie

Louise Report 1 Aug 2004 12:31

lol yep you're right about a wee swally, it does indeed mean a small drink of the alcoholic type!! We Scots do enjoy a tipple now and then. Lou

Lou, Thanks for that - there's one trait I get from Great Grandma Heatherill then!! What do you call a LARGE drink of the alcoholic type? Or do you just have LOTS of WEE swallies!!?? Hic!! Maggie

Awww what a shame that some of you wont make it.....but we'll have another one again sometime!! Got loads more scottish phrases here...a large drink wouldnt be loads of wee swally's....it'd be a full scale bevvie sesh!! You'd go out on a bender and get out yer heid! Everyone would be "braw" and you'd have a humungous hangover in the morning! Really looking forward to meeting everyone...will confirm venue in the next couple of days... Jill x

Hey all... I'm having mega problems with my ISP at the mo...it sometimes lets me online to do things and other times it doesnt!! Would any of you regularly checking the board and this thread please give it a nudge up once in a while in case I cant get online!? Still waiting on a few folk getting back to me as to whether they are able to come or not then I will confirm the booking and the date etc... Maybe we can all have a think now as to how we will all know each other when we get there!! lol Thanks.. Jill x
