A few months ago we announced that we will be updating the site to reflect the look of Friends Reunited. This is process and will be released in the next few weeks. In addition to those changes we are adding a Contact Centre which will store sent and received messages as well as your contacts. (Which means if your email address goes invalid you won't lose any GR messages) For those of you who have been asking for 'easy view' of your membership status, you’ll be happy to know this is on the way. We are also making improvements to the contact messages which will make it easy for members to respond to ancestor/tree enquiries by offering a quick ‘auto reply’ option (of course you can still type in a personal reply). This isn’t the end of the improvements. We will be adding NameX, an enhanced version of Soundex, to our searching facility in near future. This will allow you to search on surname/forename variations increasing the chance of a connection. The team here is working hard to incorporate all of your feedback and suggestions for GR. Thanks Michelle Ps Can we have a GR notice board on our home page, where emergancy messages can be posted? EG: replys to mass e mails when a problem is found. (like the name that attatched to our contacts) somewhere we can be reassured. maybe to be called "NEWSFLASH ! " Elaine x :o))

Any chance you could make the 'Trying to Find' board easier to access please. Or a seperate board altogether for folks who are looking for LIVING RELATIVES ... the number of people who put requests on the Records Office Board looking 'for my brother who I last saw in *.* ' Everytime they are redirected to 'T t F' they come back asking how to get onto it. Its NOT easy enough. Could it not be like all the other boards ?? Please help us with this one ! Elaine :-)

Hi Michelle, Can I suggest you add something to the message lists on the boards? The strip with the page numbers on runs along the bottom of the page--could we have it running across the top of the page, too? It's just a small thing, but does annoy me! Many thanks!

I would also like to see page number "top and bottom" of the page. I can't get the whole page on one screen, therefore I have to keep scrolling up and down to change. That would save a lot of scrolling ! Thanks.

Michelle, If you read this, it has been suggested by some members that it might be a good idea to have an insert at the top of Records board to say something along the lines that members who do look ups are giving their time voluntarily. It is not a service offered by Genes re-unted etc.etc. It sometimes appears that people ask for this service as if it is due to them, rather than respecting the fact that people are looking up information on something they have had to pay for in their own time. It is not that people don't want to do look ups, we enjoy it. But nobody likes to feel they are being taken advantage of. thanks Ann Glos

Hi Michelle, Thanks for the info. Is there any way the sites can be altered so that when you view a message, say on page 4, when you click off you return to page 4, and not to page 1 as at present. Just a minor irritation, but when you have been searching for a while, you can forget which page you were on Best wishes Badger Bill

Just wanted to back up Badger Bill's request--I wanted to ask the same question, but didn't know how to word it! It would be nice if we could have a response back from Michelle, so we know we aren't talking to thin air???

Will the update also improve the email delivery system? At present I only receive about 75% of initial messages from new contacts. I have to pick up the rest of them from Your Contacts. I emailed Support a week ago but despite the promised 2 day response time I've received nothing. Perhaps my email was also lost in the sausage machine? David (not a member of the GR fan club)

To echo Joys request... Can we download photos to the site. It would be nice to have a board entitled "members photos". maybe we can have a certain amount of space allocated for each of us ?? It would be nice to put names to faces... Elaine x
