jaqueline,do keep up girl, pay attention,or stand in the divvie corner.....my sausages have to be long, thick, and very tasty! that is why i think cumberland cannot be beaten! small thin ones seem to lack the necessary taste, but as i said, its all a matter of individual needs lol. bryan.

Dont mean to be picky Brian, but the Cumerland Sausages in Safeway are curvey (or loopedl whichever description comes to mind - dressed to the left or right!) How can they be long and thick? Do they uncurl? or do you bash them with the potato masher to make them the shape you want? Divvie Jacqui

oh dear jacqui...wot do i say without sounding like kenneth williams...i buy my cumberland big spicey sausages from sainsburies, near the crystal palace football ground, they are long, thick, and really juicey...AND THEYRE NOT CURVED...so maybe your not handling them gently enough...they dont like rough hands, they need to be nurtured, and eaten with love, and appreciation lol bryan.

I,m not letting Jaquie near MY sausages ,fancy attaking them that way ,ouch it sounds painful to me lol .You really should give the chicken ones a go though ,they are very tasty and are nearly fat free, without loosing their flavor.Fred.

Well, in the cold light of day I can see that you dont shop at Safeways then Brian and Fred. Their Cumberland Sausages are big, thick and long - so long in fact that they wind them into a circle - hence the curves! however, I have studied them in great depth (without handling- lol) and some are left dressing and some are right dressing!!! When I feel frisky next, I might buy a packet and get out the steak hammer!! lol Jacqui

Hi lou,you can get veggie sausies you know ,tasty too ,so you can still join in the fun ,such as bashing them with a hammer lol.I love the veggie burgers ,and the grills ,and being on a low fat regime ,they help keep my fat intake down,[the cauli grills are fab, have you tried them? fred.

Valley, don't judge all butchers by the one you worked in,my hubby is a butcher and would never put such s**t in to his sausages or burgers. my faves are lamb and mint or chicken and chestnut, Karen

hi val, your butcher must be lucky he has'nt poisoned his customers....until recently we had a butcher in our street, who also cooked meals on the premises, and delivered them to the customers home, for when they had dinner guests etc. he would also make sausages to your liking, such as if you asked for garlic to be added,he would do so,same with any spices...ive known the guy about twenty years, and he had regular customers abroad, who bought sausages in bulk, and even paid for a private charter flight,so they would be fresh. unfortuinately, for personal reasons he has closed,as his heart was'nt in it..........bryan.

Lincolnshire for me, with Cumberland second. Not that we eat many sausages. Won't touch any that contain beef as I know that sausages aren't made of the best meat and I get worried about what cuts they might use of beef. Angela

Brian - I cannot resist this - if your local butcher closed because his "heart" wasnt in it, was that an "offal" shame? Apologies in advance - its the Australian Red and the heat what does it! Jacqui ps Safetways (aka Morrisons) Cumberland Sausage are still curved - checked today, and there are left handers and right handers!

angela, if you go to a decent butcher you can ask what goes in all sausages and burgers.people seem to have the idea that its all the rubbish espically since bse and foot and mouth, but most butchers are only too happy to answer any questions about what goes into their products.since the e coli outbreak in scotland butchers have to follow very stringent guidlines regarding everything about their shop, not only about what goes into products but what the shop is cleaned with, among other things,so it is very frustrating to read coments about eyes and alsorts going into things, maybe this happened in the past but not anymore. sorry if i've upset anyone with my comments but it can be so frustrating to butchers who make good and decent sausages, karen

hi liz,yes ime squashed, with you on one side, and lynda charles on the other lol. jacqui...australian red, must be very strong lol..how can you say a sausage turns left or right? if you hold it,and twist it,it will turn either way,cos its round, not flat...if that makes sense lol bryan.
