well ,bryan,iv,e heard of wensleydale with fruit cake which is an aquired taste [but lovely] but cheese with sausages is a new one .I will give it a try next time i buy some cumberland.All this talk of sausies and no-one from Germany saying they invented them,maybe they realise the brits make the best [he says putting his tin hat on].Christine ,i was up their four weeks ago visiting the ukranian embassy with the eldest son picking up another visa.it was somewhere behind princess street up towards [morningside?]anyway ,we wen,t into this little cafe, a long thin place with the counter at the far end.we had the most beutiful breakfast i,ve had since i worked at the raf airfield up the road. there was Haggis ,two eggs ,two pieces of lorne,beans,three slices of bacon.tomatoes ,fried bread,a huge cup of tea ,and a lovely bread bun ,which again i hadn,t had since being at raf turnhouse. It would almost be worth it ,to go back up just for another one[the haggis was as good as ever, grants]you scotties do know a good breakfast.Fred

christine,were talking from the same hymn sheet lol. a plate of cumberland sausages,a slice of stilton...cut into the sausage,add a piece of stilton,and put in your mouth.......ohhhhhh,god,who needs a woman,this is the way to live lol bryan.

Saw on tv last week that they're trying to ban faggots from being called that as it's not P.C. Lorne sausage my favourite....square sliced. Venison sausages are yummy too. An Edinburgh butcher who specialises in sausages does pork and stilton and wild bore amongst others. Christine

fred,you really are a man after my own heart...welsh faggots are sooo delicious,and wholesome...just like welsh women lol i9me presently living in london,and until recently we had a welsh family running a pease pudding,and faggot shop..apparently they used a recipe passed down from their parents,but when they retired,they said the recipe would not be passed along,as none of their family wanted to run the business...very sad. bryan.

angela, if you go to a decent butcher you can ask what goes in all sausages and burgers.people seem to have the idea that its all the rubbish espically since bse and foot and mouth,but most butchers are only too happy to answer any questions about what goes into their products.since the e coli outbreak in scotland butchers have to follow very stringent guidlines regarding everything about their shop, not only about what goes into products but what the shop is cleaned with,among other things,so it is very frustrating to read coments about eyes and alsorts going into things,maybe this happened in the past but not anymore. sorry if i've upset anyone with my comments but it can be so frustrating to butchers who make good and decent sausages, karen

Brian - I cannot resist this - if your local butcher closed because his "heart" wasnt in it, was that an "offal" shame? Apologies in advance - its the Australian Red and the heat what does it! Jacqui ps Safetways (aka Morrisons) Cumberland Sausage are still curved - checked today, and there are left handers and right handers!

Lincolnshire for me, with Cumberland second. Not that we eat many sausages. Won't touch any that contain beef as I know that sausages aren't made of the best meat and I get worried about what cuts they might use of beef. Angela

hi val,your butcher must be lucky he has'nt poisoned his customers....until recently we had a butcher in our street,who also cooked meals on the premises,and delivered them to the customers home,for when they had dinner guests etc. he would also make sausages to your liking,such as if you asked for garlic to be added,he would do so,same with any spices...ive known the guy about twenty years,and he had regular customers abroad,who bought sausages in bulk,and even paid for a private charter flight,so they would be fresh. unfortuinately,for personal reasons he has closed,as his heart was'nt in it..........bryan.

Valley, don't judge all butchers by the one you worked in,my hubby is a butcher and would never put such s**t in to his sausages or burgers. my faves are lamb and mint or chicken and chestnut, Karen

I order mine from Grasmere Farms,,,,they have a garlic in them and are soooooooo scrummy,,!!!

Hey Jaquie ,some of us people cant afford to swan around safeway ,it,s a dear store,and anyway ,it,s Morrisons now.I did see some cumberland ones in asda last week ,so i might just get some and tenderise them your way lol,I,m up for that cause i havn,t had any of those for a few weeks .Fred.
