Oh How awful. my prayers are with his family. I don't really know what to say. I am so screwed up with anger and a feeling of sheer inadequacy. Why wasn't the UK able to help this poor man? A question we all need answered. Rose

ஐ+*¨^¨*+e+*¨^¨*+ஐ Mildred Honkinbottom Report 8 Oct 2004 17:08

video seen by an Arabic television has reportedly shown the beheading of British hostage Ken Bigley. The Foreign Office is still checking claims the 62-year-old Liverpool man has been murdered. However, witnesses who saw the tape said it left little doubt that Mr Bigley's ordeal had come to a brutal end. One witness who saw the footage, a journalist in Baghdad, said it showed Mr Bigley in an orange jump suit making a statement in front of six militants before he was murdered. News of the tape provoked despair and anger from Mr Bigley's brother Paul, who accused Prime Minister Tony Blair of having "blood on his hands".

This just goes to show there is no humanity in these terrorist groups. I just hope they don't insult our intelligence by saying it was done either in the name of religion or to attain peace in Iraq. Jean x.

It's bad enough when you lose someone you love, but at least if they are ill (for instance) you know that they have passed away surrounded by as much love and care as possible. It must be horrendous to think that a loved one has had a terrifying death. So sad at this news. Mandy x

It is still unconfirmed:- "LONDON (Reuters) - British hostage Ken Bigley has been killed in Iraq, Sky Television said on Friday citing British government sources. Neither the British Foreign Office nor Prime Minister Tony Blair's office were immediately able to confirm the report. Earlier, a report on Abu Dhabi Television quoting "informed" sources in Iraq said Bigley, 62, had been killed. "We are aware of the reports but we have no further comment at this stage," a spokesman for Blair's Downing Street office told Reuters. " The stress of waiting must be terrible for his family and friends. Joy
