Right. I can't make out a name on a birth cert. I think it says Catherine O'shea as the name, but it's the maiden name I'm having trouble with. Would anyone be willing to take a look for me? Thanks. |

Daniel, if it a certificate you have recently bought and really is illegible, send it back and ask for a legible one, or contact them first. |

dan I had a marriage cert arive today and couldn't read the maiden name so I went on free bmd and just put the page and volume number date and area leaving the names out and it gave me the names of the husband and wife. jenny x |

I sent one back last week, had everyone look at it with mag. glass and came up with anything from Leach to Gogh. Sent it back to GRO and received reply today. It was NOCK!! |

I think the first name is Catherine. She married my gg grandfather Richard Oshea. What your seeing is from the birth cert. of my g grandfather in 1914. |

There is a thing on Ancestry that shows different ways that letters were formed. It was only over on the Tips board today and I never knew the facility existed! You click on census and then on the left hand side it says 'handwriting help', which appears in a pop up box. You can't print it, but you can save it as a picture then print it. I don't mind having a look Daniel if you think another pair of eyes might help. Good luck! Mandy :) |
