only got a few minutes left today, (which will please some! lol!) but i was reminded today of the jam song 'thats entertainment'. i was amazed that the line, 'two lovers missing the tranquility of solitude' could be fitted in a song and i thought paul weller was a genious from that point on. i did my hair like his, lol! and everything. any stories??

Haven't had any really inspiring moments like that, although I do sometimes marvel at the minds thta come up with some songs, I wound't have a hope to be so eloquent. There are quite a few that strike a chord with me lately...

Streets of London always gets me in the gooey bits, but my favourite of all is Bridge over Troubled Water.

Not inspire so much as just impress me. I think these following lyrics are a really romantic play on words, comparing english language today to years gone by. If I could say what I wanna say I'd say I wanna blow you....away Be with you every night am I squeezing you too tight? If I could say what I wanna see I wanna see you go down...on one knee Marry me today, am I wishing my life away... On these things I wanna say? becx

Two songs that get me every time (for very similar reasons), and are both Paul Weller are English Rose, "no matter where I roam- my thoughts come back to my English rose- nothing can ever keep them from she", and "I should've been there to inspire you", which is also the title.

Craig, Agree with you on that one. Another Weller song that I rate highly is 'Going Places' off the Illumination album. Fine lyricist.

I'd like to agree with you but, when Illumination was first released, I bought a copy and then moved house the following week. Guess what? That's right, it got lost!!! Trouble now is that I refused to buy it again on the premise that, it may eventually turn up. Not that I'm tight.

Have actually just thought of one that struck a chord with me when I first heard it... . In the song "Some of Us" by Starsailer there's the line... "Some of us laugh, some of us cry, some of us drink, some of us lie, but it's all just the way that we cope with our lives". very true.

By the way, I went to see Weller at Sheffield City Hall last year and it was mind blowin'. He did a few covers then and so it was no surprise to see his latest album. I don't mind so much when established artists do covers, but I hate to see good tracks ruined by 'BOY BANDS'. AAARRGHHH!!!

The covers albums a bit of a mixed bag I found.. a few good ones, but quite a few average ones... I'm just left thinking... why ? Beautiful South are about to do the same thing apparrently, I await that eagerly...
