Beautiful South are a top lot! Still got the Housemartins "NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL QUITE GOOD" on vinyl. Some bands are always worth listening to.

The lyric which inspires me is " If you had 1 shot, or 1 opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in 1 moment, would you capture it, or just let it slip?" - Eminem

Joy, the singer of I Will Survive is Gloria Gaynor. The lyrics are very good. There are loads that I think are really good, but am not in music mode at the moment. Ask me later, lol! Glenys.

Craig, I agree with you about Beautiful South. I particularly like 'So you're older and I look at your face. Every wrinkle is so easy to place. And I only write them down just in case you should die. Take a look at these crow's feet, just look, sitting on the prettiest eyes... sixty 25th of Decembers, fifty nine 4th of Julys, you can't have too many good time, children, you can't have too many lines. take a good look at these crow's feet, sitting on the prettiest eyes.'

I think the words of Billy Joel's "Innocent Man" ring true -"Some people stay away from the door if there'a a chance of it opening up". Not inspiring, exactly, but the words of Randy Newman's Political Science are spot on regarding American foreign policy - "No one likes us/I don't know why/we may not be perfect but heaven knows we try..." I really like Kirsty Macoll's lyrics too, and Ian Dury's. RIP.

Hi Paul, The lyrics that immediately spring to mind are Jimmy Cliff's - "You can get it if you really want but you must try, try and try - you succeed at last!"
