It really is unfortunate that we no longer seem to be able to have a discussion here without someone getting the hump and crying to GR. I generally look at all the threads, and if I don't like the content I don't look at that one again. This is the age of the Thought Police apparently. Jim

Hi Grampa Jim GC PtfG, totally agree, i dont reply to many threads as i tend to stay in the background, unless its a good joke etc,LOL. But i do agree, if you dont like what you have started to read, click off that thread. I dont think there is a need to complain, there is stuff i dont agree with or comments i do not like, but thats my own opinion i just dont carry on reading. Must admit, tend not to come on the record board much, as everytime i click on the post its been removed etc,LOL.

Jim, You are right, after all if we dont like a TV programme, we turn it off. June

Grampa Jim, You have hit the nail on the head this board has changed dramatically in the last 12 months we used to have some really good discussions once, ok so one or two got a bit heated but there were no snidey remarks or anything nasty aimed at other peoples opinions we seemed to agree to disagree that was the end of the matter,now i find we have spite,nastiness,abuse, and even abusive words starred in places is there any need for it? you can to town and hear that why put it on here believe me i am no prude. As for prisoners, having been connected with the Prison service for 30 years and worked in a prison you people out there don't know the half. Lets all get back to a happy board. Chrissy

I for one would certainly like to see more serious type discussions rather than some of the nonsense I have seen lately, rather than putting up a thread just for the sake of it. I think the Christmas (or xmas) spirit has hit some people a bit early!! Martin

it all comes down to one word, choice! if you dont like something then dont read it or join in with it. the beauty of this board is that we all are different ages, social groups and backgrounds. thats what makes it so good! one thing i learned at the meet up in london is that when we all get together, we get on fabulously. blimey if we all liked and agreed with exactly the same things this would be one hell of a boring board! just my opinion, if you dont like it then dont take it in, see, easy isnt it!!

I'm with you Grandpa Jim, I add to some threads and read others. I've never complained about anything. If I don't like it forget it and move on to something else. As a pretty new user I find the vast majority of threads are friendly and fun. Jack

Wasn't refering to the "offending" type threads/comments. People should really think before they type. We don't need any of that, and "personal" comments really irritate me. I don't mind light hearted threads and I love jokes (can't remember yesterdays threads!). Its just some of the real nonsensical threads which I find a little ........."odd" ...that people want to put up. Perhaps the chat board should be used instead of this board for some things. Martin

Grampa Jim, only been on here five weeks its like a war zone. Is someone making money out of this? We will be an item on GMTV at this rate. Say what you want. i agree paul but arguments start from someone giving their opinion and that is what the topics boards about.sometimes someone doesn't like the other one has said and they start a row.thats wrong.we all have a voice and we are entitled to say how we feel about a certain subjectxxxx(:

Lapdance Lovely, Opps Freudian slip, Agreed, but within the limits of polite society. Trouble is that now our "Society" has increased to include people we may not have even considered talking to a few years ago. We are still in the process of determining what we are and what we are not going to accept as polite. I am sure it will all work out in the end and the Voice of Reason will prevail. Jim

the arguements usually start in one of two ways. 1. someone refuses to accept that anyone else may have a different opinion on any given subject. You'll notice I usually say "you're entitled to your opinion, but...". One or two seem to think that their opinion is the only valid one, and shout loudly at anyone who disagrees. 2. someone deliberatly stirs things up. The problem this morning wasn't the opinions being expressed, it was the way they were put forward. GR have explained why they removed the threads, it should have ended at that, most people were satisfied with the answer.
