In my youth...strewth that makes me sound old.....I worked as a receptionist in a Night Club and met many 'Pop Stars' of the era....the '60's. Went to a party with 'The Animals' and another with Bruce Chanel who sang 'Hey Baby'....Long John Baldry....Rod Stewart.....Freddie Star....The Who....Gene Pitney....Bobby Vee... too many to mention...it was a great time. We could go anywhere at any time and feel safe - I often walked home alone and had no fear....we went out for a good time... now the object seems to be to get plastered, have a kebab or pizza and pick a fight

As a Silver Service waiter, in my youth, when I was better looking, I used to work at Wentworth Golf Club. Bruce Forsyth was a member, he lives on the estate ,somewhere,. Other visitors were Richard [Stinker] Murdoch,, Ronnie Barker, telling the filthiest gags south of the river at a Stag Night. Dear old Eric Sykes, deaf as a post all them years ago[1968 thru 1970. But my best memory from that time was meeting and serving Mr.Bond. Mr. Sean Connery.[as he was then] More recently I have had the pleasure of meeting "Grouty", from Porrige. He ,who is better known to us all as , Mr. Peter Vaughan. A one time resident of Crawley, here in "sunny Sussex". So I lied about the sun :-) I met Molly Weir, the diminuative Scottish actres, when she was alive , regularly ravelling too and from Brighton and London. She used to do the "Flash cleans without scratching" adverts on the telly back in the early 1970's . Another regular traveller was David Jason [Granville]

I have met (been presented to) the Queen, Princess Margaret, the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Alexandra at different times. The only one I could not like was Margaret. I was an official at a large conference in London and the Duke of Norfolk was in the Chair. I escaped to go to the loo and was happily spending a penny when the Duke walked in. I thought "should I spring to attention or bow or what?" when the Duke ended my consternation by proceeding to spend a penny himself and remarking in an affable tone "only real place where yer can express an opinion". I was on It's Wicked, a Sat morning show and met Cheryl Baker, Tom O-Connor and Craig Charles from Red Dwarf. Only about 13 at the time wearing a really fashionable Minnie Mouse t-shirt with the 80's cut off sleeves. My mum made me do it! We were on holiday in Blackpool and they were looking for people to hang around in 'The Diner'. My 15 minutes of fame! And I was so embarrassed.

I was in Edinburgh shopping on the Royal mile and I saw the Queen go into church to attend a service and then walk out again, but I couldn't see very well through the crowd. When I was at Glamis Castle I took part in a youth march to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee. There were some Royals there, but fairly obscure ones and I had a chat with them. I have also seen Philip Reeve (he illustrates Terry Deary's books) at a book award's ceremony. BUT, I've never actually met anyone famous, I wish I had!! Lucia :-)

Deb Vancouver (18665) Report 21 Jan 2005 06:40

I met Dez from Coronation Street when he was here in Vancouver. My best friend is a first cousin to a famous Canadian Actor. I'm not going to say his name, but we knew him before he became famous. I was also on the plane between Heathrow and Manchester with a group of young lads. I was informed by my younger cousin that they were BoyZone - I didn't have a clue who she was talking about.
