Cynthia Report 19 Oct 2020 08:50

Good morning all. I have been wondering what has happened to David who used to post on the Christian thread and other threads too.

He told us he was poorly and going into hospital for surgery at the beginning of October. Sadly, we haven't heard from him since and I remember Sylvia from Canada asking about him.

I did some googling yesterday and came across the following which I think, sadly, maybe our friend, as what we knew of him seems to fit in.

David IRVINE

(Fawdon) David passed away peacefully in hospital on 3rd October aged 74 years, Beloved Husband of Ellen (Nee Wallis), loving Brother of Ralphy and Dennis and a Much loved uncle. Friends please meet for service at the West Road Crematorium, Newcastle on Thursday 22nd October at 11.45am. Flowers maybe sent c/o Richard Bird Funeral Services, 57 Great North Road, Gosforth, NE3 2DQ, Tel 0191 5111412

If this is incorrect, please message me and I will delete it immediately.

Meanwhile, if it is the correct information, we think of David and his wife Ellen at this sad time. Cx

So very sad. He’s had to contend with so many problems in recent years. Thoughts and prayers for Ellen and the family. RIP David.

I will put a note on Mel’s long running thread.as David was an occasional contributor there.

Oh how sad, yes that is definitely him, his wife was Ellen. He has been part of our lives on here for a long time always something relevant to say and always polite. But I have always felt so sorry for the restricted life he had to live after his accident. No more pain and now at peace. My condolences to Ellen if she should somehow read this.

thank you cynthia for this. Thinking of our friend David <3 <3

Such a sad situation he was always such a nice man PM many of us over the years I'm sure. RIP

He was a gentleman, Caroline. I know this because he always handled my sometimes short-shrift comments with equanimity and good humour, without ever biting back.. Not many can do that. <3

Just read the news on my thread. So sorry David is not with us anymore and shall miss his posts as he still popped into my thread now and then. He was a regular for a while and sent us pics of himself in hospital with the cage round his leg.

I have David's address and think I will send a card to Ellen from all of us if thats ok with you lot?

RIP David <3 <3 <3

RIP David.

I don't think I ever had a "conversation" with David, but it's so sad to lose another contributor. So few of us these days.

Condolences to his family. <3

I really liked David for his eternal optimism, courage and willingness to face challenges, his wide ranging interests. He will be very much missed both here and I believe by his wider family.
RIP <3

Because I could not stop for Death

Because I could not stop for Death–
He kindly stopped for me–
The Carriage held but just Ourselves–
And Immortality.

We slowly drove– He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility–

We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess– in the Ring–
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain–
We passed the Setting Sun–

Or rather– He passed Us–
The Dews drew quivering and Chill–
For only Gossamer, my Gown–

We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground–
The Roof was scarcely visible–
The Cornice– in the Ground–

Since then– 'tis Centuries– and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses' Heads
Were toward Eternity–
