maggiewinchester Report 17 Mar 2020 18:07

My sister in law (aged 65) - a nurse - has been told to self isolate for a month.
She hasn't got coronavirus, but has got Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (slow acting leukemia).
It's going to drive her mad - she hates not doing anything! It also means she can't do her other job - as an advisor at the CAB.
My brother is going to give up his job - driving s community bus for the elderly, as he obviously doesn't want to run the risk of picking anything up and passing it on to his wife.
He'll be okay, though, 'boredom' wise - he builds working model boats or full scale motorbikes!

Rollo .................

You know better than the employers or doctors about Maggie's sister-in--law.????

Un- b****y-believable!!!!

maggiewinchester Report 17 Mar 2020 21:28

Sorry RTR - " Your sil state of health is not a reason" Really?
Sister in law is a NURSE - she works in a HOSPITAL, a CONSULTANT said she should self-isolate.
She has LEUKEMIA it may be a slow-acting one - but she still has it.

So you think you know more than a consultant, do you?
Or do you think everyone spouts bullsh*t like you do?

I posted on another thread that one of my brothers is 71 - and renovating an old smithy by himself - I'm well aware that over 70's can be very healthy - but those younger can have underlying problems.

It's about time you stopped pretending you're an expert on everything, and also cut the cr*p and lies you spout.

maggiewinchester Report 17 Mar 2020 21:39

I'm sorry Barbra, but there's only so much bullsh*t and lies I can take from someone who is totally up himself, and whose sole aim in life is to attempt to put others down to inflate his own sagging ego.

David Report 17 Mar 2020 21:44

I'm well past 70. Today I had a visit from my GP's district nurse, unexpectedly.

Took my blood pressure and was kind enough to cut my toe nails <3

That's nice, David - you know you aren't forgotten <3
I wish I could persuade someone to cut my toenails :-(

Fully in agreement with Maggie. :-|

maggiewinchester Report 17 Mar 2020 22:09

Of course you could 'cite opinions of your own rellies who work in the NHS', RTR.
You apparently have 'rellies' who are 'high up' in every profession.

Someone with an underlying, potentially fatal condition is not a 'general hypothesis'.

You assume my sister in law lives and works in Hampshire - please elucidate on your assumption.

Just for a laugh - and to prove it's not more bullsh*t - name the registrar.
..and no we don't want to know the opinions of your alleged rellies, we're unlikely to find them interesting. Besides which, I'm sure you've already let us know.

Allan Report 17 Mar 2020 22:13

Give it a rest, Rollo.

I'm sure that very many users of these Boards have rellies working in the Health Systems of their respective countries, or are even employees in such areas themselves.

Resorting to childish name calling doesn't form a very good basis for a logical argument either.

I don't know about the UK, but in Oz we are getting very mixed messages from our Pollies and top medical advisers and it seems that the old don't do as I do, do as I say is creeping in

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 17 Mar 2020 22:17

I have 3 very close family working in the Health Sector but certainly do not to need to spout on about them

Careful now, LaGooner, we may be creeping into the schoolboy trait of meeting behind the bike shed and saying, 'I told you mine was bigger than yours' ;-) :-D

Just to say that even though my hubby is 70 he still runs marathons, even the awful Snowdonia one.

He will run on his own (over the mountains where he doesn't see anyone). He does not go out and meet people even though he is incredibly fit...why? in case he brings the virus home to me!

Being fit does not equal being stupid enough to take unecessary risks for other people.

Exactly Sue!
My other brother - 70 this year - (married to my Sin L) is very healthy (apart from his fake knees and titanium shinbone - blame the motorcycling), but he doesn't want to infect my SinL.

Edit: I didn't report RTR's offensive comments - but thank you, whoever did. :-)

Shame it's been reinstated - but at least I now know, if an absolute pillock can be that offensive, so can I!!

Just like to say, my daughter also works in the NHS - but I'd never tell you 'interesting tales', because of patient confidentiality, and also because she doesn't tell me her 'interesting tales' for the same reason!
The daughter of friends of mine had a baby. I met her in the street - she started regaling how fantastic L is at her job - and was amazed that I had no idea my daughter had been involved in her confinement.
How it should be - not 'claiming fame' for something someone else did.
