Can anyone else claim to be descended from Rollo Ragnvaldsson, and, therefore a relation of Danny Dyer?

I've got to Dinan, Brittany in 10 something or other, but need more time, and think we avoided the Royals. :-D

Strangely, though, one of my best mates at school, in Hampshire, who thought her family were 'foresters' - ie from the New Forest, has an unusual surname - that I found out was was Cornish - and one of my ancestors married someone with her surname.......

I've even found out that my ex's grandmother and my g grandmother worked in the same farm in the New Forest. Both of us have 'Forester' families (aka travellers) on one side of our ancestry. What are the chances of us being relates hundreds of years ago?

I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next one. Did you see his face when they said he had the blood of a saint in him? Some of his comments make me laugh especially when he calls a building a "Gaff" He's a proper cockney and reminds me of my late Granddad. I found the programme very interesting.

We saw the trailer and it was more than enough!!!Not our sort of thing at all!

I can understand why Danny might not be to everyone's taste but I like you Gillx really enjoyed the programme. By bringing his royal ancestry to life it's a different way of teaching us about our history :-) :-0

That's exactly what I thought LondonBelle. The way it was done with all the clothes and acting the roles I thought was a very good way of teaching history. I liked it when they gave him all those coins, what a lovely thing to do. I watched Danny on WDYTYA to. Who would of thought he'd of been from Royalty. I would never of guessed that in a million years.

I like the fact that he had a swear box! :-D :-D

Oh, and referring to William the Conquerer as 'gramps'.

It may not be as incongruous as it first sounds to have Danny Dyer talking as he does.

It was strange when he counted the coins in the swear box and it amounted to 33, the same age Jesus was when he died on the cross. Talk about sending shivers down your spine. Swearing aside, I do like the way he talks and his sense of humor is so funny sometimes, as you said maggiewinchester referring to William the Conqueror as "Gramps". LOL :-D :-D

i live just up the road from were he use to live as a kid my daughter even use to fancy him in there teens. and yes we have a cockny acent but if you lisen to danny he has this put on ancent wich he dont need to. plus all the old saying yes even now we use them even my kids. but not in the way he feel the need to use then

There was a bloke in Bognor who had been born in Portsmouth but went to London for the day and, when he came back , he was a cockney.

Pompey has it's own slang - which is similar to cockney.
I just looked up a Pompey slang website - and I use most of those expressions :-0
Probably 'garnered' when I worked in the Dockyard!
Even the ex is still referred to as 'Mush'.
