I liked it and loved the castles as well as Wolf Hall -

No I dont know if he really is like this all the time, dont think I would like to live with an Eastender accent like that for real, it would do my South East England head in.

I enjoyed it too, the historical enactment was excellent.

However I couldn't decide if Danny Dyer is really like that or if it's an act, it was hard to tell.

I'm not related to any of those in part 2, except Danny, of course.

Not seen it yet - trying to find a time when OH is asleep or out of the room

I saw the Documentary behind the scenes at the tower of London - they showed you Henry's Armour & the codpiece and apparently all the Beefeaters comment on the size of the codpiece .

Sounds interesting I am related to Anne Boleyn's Aunt it seems.

Anyone watch it tonight?

..did anyone else have to find portraits of Henry VIII, and realise they'd never noticed the codpiece before? :-)

maggiewinchester Report 28 Jan 2019 19:34

Well, Tabitha, I'm afraid your OH IS related to him! :-D :-D :-D

I'm sure someone else on this site is too.......

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 28 Jan 2019 12:53

I enjoyed it too - my OH hated it

He was very funny - I loved his facial expression when he was at Dover castle. My OH is a relative - has Henry Percy and William the Conqueror in his tree - but he dosn't want to be related to someone who can swear that much.

I will watch part 2 on my own

I plan to record the repeat on Tuesday evening and watch it after I have recorded the second part on Wednesday.

If it gets too much I can pause it for a break and a cuppa!

We're dockyard matey's children, sitting on the dockyard wall,

Watching our fathers doing **** all.

When we are older, we'll be dockyard maties too,

And just like our fathers we'll have **** all to do.

Many expressions are Romany, like 'Dinlo' and 'Divvy' - and I've just realised,a lot of my 'exclamations' are of Naval origin :-0

Sharron

Sharron Report 27 Jan 2019 23:09

'Mush' is actually Romany but many have taken it as their own.

Pompey has it's own slang - which is similar to cockney.
I just looked up a Pompey slang website - and I use most of those expressions :-0
Probably 'garnered' when I worked in the Dockyard!
Even the ex is still referred to as 'Mush'.
