Well I don't wonder at that. No it is sad really but surely they must realise that if they gave out more friendship they would get it back .

Not sure whether it's morning, afternoon or evening lol! The whole day has been dark, windy, wet and downright miserable!!

Had a phone call last night from a neighbour of Steptoe's to tell me he was in hospital. Thought it might be for a couple of days. I decided to call when I got in from work today and he has been discharged (it was only a minor procedure to fit a catheter), so phoned to see if he wanted any shopping doing. He's ok, I suppose, and wants to go with me tomorrow, but has to go back into hospital soon to have his prostate gland removed.

I really am not an unsympathetic person, but I cannot face having to go and do anything for him when he comes home next time. It's a long story, but what goes around, comes around. And, on top of that, his bungalow leaves a lot to be desired (pretty much like his favourite character!) Why then, am I feeling somewhat guilty.

LaGooner Report 1 Oct 2010 17:27

Oh Yg why are you feeling guilty ???? You did too much for him in the past with no thanks I bet.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 1 Oct 2010 17:41

You shouldn't feel guilty, although perhaps its because you shared a number of years together. If he has 'flossies' as you've suggested in the past, perhaps they ought to be the ones at his beck and call!

When he gets re-admitted, even if he puts you as n.o.k., why not make it absolutely clear that you won't be caring for him when he is discharged? If it means visiting in hospital and leaving a letter to go on his file, then so be it. It might be best for him/you if SS gets involved and sorts him out with meals on wheels, home help etc.

and why aren't you filing LG??
And Maz? - you're busted! Planning a Meet in Newcastle without us? Tut Tut - lol If it gets off the ground and you can make it, bring us back a stick of rock :0

LOL DET. I am, slowly but surely . I am multi tasking again as shuffling papers is soooooooooooooooooooo Boring.

I agree completely with DET YG. Let someone else deal with him as you won't get any thanks for it !

YG

YG Report 1 Oct 2010 18:17

I think you are both right. I know he named his son as n.o.k. with the council, although he doesn't live in the UK. There nust be someone at the hospital who can sort help through the SS even if he has to pay for someone to come in and cook/clean. He is only going to be in for 3-4 days, so he may be perfectly capable when he comes out. It is an unkown quantity at the moment.

Thanks for your thoughts. It has relieved my conscience a bit!

Glad you're feeling a bit more relaxed about. You do enough for him as it is. I doubt if many Ex's would do the same.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 1 Oct 2010 18:23

The only thing I would do for my Ex is get a shovel and bury him LOL
