Oh boy DET are you too late!! Brought home work this afternoon because they made me come home early. But I won't be up too late tonight already tired.

Today is International Very Good Looking, Damn Smart Woman's Day, so please send this message to someone you think fits this description. Please do not send it back to me as I have already received it from a Very Good Looking, Damn Smart Woman!

And remember this motto to live by: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, totally worn out and screaming 'WOOO HOOOOO what a ride!'

Inside every older person is a younger person -- wondering what the hell happened.

Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out. But I can usually shut her up with cookies.

The hardest years in life are those between ten and seventy.

I refuse to think of them as chin hair. I think of them as stray eyebrows.

Old age ain't no place for sissies.

Thirty-five is when you finally get your head together and your body starts falling apart.

If you can't be a good example ~ then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila and salt and call me over!!!

Evening everyone.

We have had some drizzle here, but nothing to shout home about! Could do with a really good downpower to help the grass, but nothing yet and it looks as though we will miss out tomorrow too!

Aunty, you don't improve with age lol!!

Hi all.

We've had quite a bit of rain here today, but it's not bad now, cold though.

I wonder if those few days of sunshine were our summer.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 26 May 2010 20:52

Lol Pauline that was definately our summer. Just started raining a little here and just rushed out and got the washing off the line in time

Mazfromnorf

No rain as yet, although there may be some overnight. Sains had reduced their barbeque packs of fresh burgers by more than half (close to bbf date) Me thinks they were over optimistic when they ordered in - their loss is our gain, so the freezer is stocked - lol

Hope everyone has had a good day, rescued washing and the dreaded unmentionable aside. If Aunty is behaving herself, she should be having a lay in....not!

AuntySherlock Report 26 May 2010 22:41

Morning all. Freezing cold here. Was going to get an early start. Going to get, what an awful phrase!! Now I'm stuck here chatting. I was a good girl last night and went to bed early again. I am falling further and further behind with my research. Never mind I really need my certificates before I can continue.

Have you noticed GR now has access to the 1911 census. Come on smarties tell me how many credits I need to take a look. I am wondering if it is cheaper than FMP. You hadn't even noticed had you???

We have had lots and lots of rain over the last few days. All the lazy people's weeds are growing now and soon they will all have to mow the weeds. My OH is fanatical about the garden and has kept it in good order so now he has less work to do with the watering.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 26 May 2010 23:07

Morning Aunty. Just thinking about the credit situation myself. Then .........

Hang on, you've already got a sub for 1911 on FMP - doh!

Your health is more important than your research; you don't want to end up as a statistic on someone elses tree!!!!

Haven't done any research for aaaggesss, at least not since the debacable journey to the local library and the subsequent successful foray to the cemetery.

I bet OH is feeling smug after all his efforts. But what does he get up to when he can't get outside? Perhaps you'd better not answer that!

NB- it's turned cool here again, so don't get too jealous!

AuntySherlock Report 27 May 2010 07:23

Morning you lot. OK. That is it. Aunty has rebelled.

I spent the morning stressing out big time because I knew I was expected to go home early. Have you any idea how difficult it is to fit a whole day's work into half a day. They started nagging me about 11.30 am and by the time 12.30 arrived I was hidding in my office with a sign on the door. "I have gone home." When I arrived home, early, I did a rant to OH.

It is doing me more harm to come home early than it is to stay the extra couple of hours at work.

There's nothing like a little old lady dressed in her office clothes going off like a squawking flapping crow on the back verandah to get the message across.

What does OH do when it is raining? Why he watches TV, or pulls motor vehicles to pieces in the shed. What else is there for an Aussie man to do on a wet day.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 27 May 2010 09:38

Oh dear...not good! Look. What would happen if you can't complete the usual work load? Not a lot.

Priorotise..delegate..if the work can't be completed within a normal working day (even when you are back full tme) then you'll have to nag for an assistant or another junior member of staff and bump other people up the pay scale.

To a certain extent, I think your employers are taking advantage of you, if you consider the number of times you go in on holidays or weekends.

Not the support you are after, I know, but there is no point running yourself into the ground and risking another episode of hospitalisation. Think of the mess they will be in then, let alone the worry it will cause your family!!!

Its raining, its pouring, the old man is snoring (literally!) and its the only day this week when neither of us have things we have to go out for. so we will end up staring at the walls and contemplating our navels lol

Pauline $(*-*)$

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 27 May 2010 09:53

LOL DET, I'm sure you can find something better to do than go into deep thought about your navel. Well, I suppose it's better than house***k.

Aunty, DET's right, you need an assistant. No job is worth all that stress. That funny turn you had was a waring - listen to it!!

We've had rain all night but it's fine now, so I'm going to put the washing on the line, see if I can get it dry before the rain comes back.

Derek said hi to the Nutters. I was about to ask him a question and discovered I had the wrong place name, well two places mixed up.

I hear what you are saying about my health. I thank you for your kind advice, you are probably correct, but...............

Mazfromnorf Report 27 May 2010 13:59

hello there I noticed the 1911 yesterday but its going to cost a fortune and its only for 6mths

YG

YG Report 27 May 2010 17:54

"But" what, Aunty!! It is a big word!! Mind you, I have some need to talk, although I don't go in at weekends!!

My mother always used to say that the work will still be there when you are gone!! So, SLOW DOWN, like a good girl and listen to your elders lol!!

Alright, alright, I know you lot are younger than me, before you start screaming at me!!

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 27 May 2010 20:40

evening all we have had very little rain here again but its cold .I am a great believer in relaxation and now the wedding is over i can relax until it gets dirty again lol .the washing never stops though .but i am good at closing my eyes to dust .last shift tomorrow for a week . Aunty you maybe need to retreat to the lodge and be pampered .allow OH to take over the chores with spot

AuntySherlock

AuntySherlock Report 27 May 2010 20:59

Oh Maz! I am laughing. You won't believe why I am laughing. I mis read your post.

I read it that YOU needed to retreat to the lodge and be pampered and were going to allow OH to take over.......

what, Maz has an OH. Don't tell me she's went and got married and didn't tell me.

Then I noticed you had started the sentence with "Aunty".

My poor OH is very supportive and pulling his hair out trying to keep me quiet and rested. I have been very good going to bed early all this week. So much so here I am at 5.00 am bright eyed and busy tailed. I googled this complaint I have it is called "silent migraine" or "migraine without the headache". I just had the numbness on the face and hands and a bit in my leg.

And yes I know the work will still be there but when it affects other peoples wages and suppliers payments and kids going on excursions someone has to do it. As I explained normally I have a back up person but for this term she is working elsewhere.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 27 May 2010 23:19

Boo to yoo too LG. Where have you been hiding? Not sure where the day has gone, and now its time for bed.

Aunty.....Take a page out of Maz' book....No don't go looking for new Frog! Can we have an agreement so we can stop nagging?

1)Sensible going to bed and waking up times for at least 2 weeks.
2)Ask for help from your colleagues/minions
3)If they are really too busy, ask for a part time temp worker, perhaps 2 or 3 mornings a week.

1 & 2 are achievable.....#3 only you know if a budget is available. It ought to be if your usual person is eslewhere.

Ye Gods, I sound just like my father - lol

A quick potter then I'm off to bed. Night all.
