Berona, was this "could be" bigamist living in the UK? Has the person who sent you the tree on GR got both marriage certs.?

Have you bee able to find both families on Census records?

Like you I would be loathe to label someone a bigamist, but wouldn't rule out the possibility altogether.

Am rather low on energy, and snowed under on my paperwork (plus house work) at the moment, otherwise I would be only too willing to help.
In my family we have many cousins with the same name, often born around t he same time. Perhaps this is the case here.

I feel sure that ther are some people of the genes boards who would love to do a bit of detective work on this to solve the mystery.

Bridget, we have had thunder, lightening and hailstones here lately too. Very strange weather.
But not unheard of.

I seem to remember that we had a hailstorm on 1st Junw 1975, the year before the hot summer. 1975 was quite a good summer, however it was suroassed by the glorious summer of 1976.

I think that we had some rather "wintery" weather in May 1976 too, (hail etc).

I bet your OH is pleased that his football team has gone up to the Prem Division.

Gerard, your team did well too, you can look forward to seeing them play in Europe next season. (or have I got that wrong/).

Sorry I am not on the boards much now. Energy still quite low, but am trying to get out of the house twice a week at the moment.

Also working on the family tree, t/f to A-----ry. My GR tree is driving me MAD.
I have been entering new info on the Notes section for various family members. When I come to check it to t/f info to A------
I find that "info hidden by tree owner" Arghhh!
I Am the tree owner, and I haven't hidden the info.
It also hides place og birth, middle name etc.
This is NOT what I pay my membership for.
Seriously thinking of not renewing when my membership falls due.

Have to go as bleeper on cooker has just gone off to say that food is ready.

Hope that everyone is well.

Apologies to everyone - it has been two weeks since my last visit. However, I notice we are still talking about the d*mn weather.

I had my 65th Birthday last week - so I should be retiring - but I refuse to. The forms I am filling in for pensions - it's a wonder anyone can fill them in!!!

Good news all round on the football - especially for Bridget's OH - Premiership again - let's hope they can stay up.

Tess - if you use old tree you will find all your information without any trouble, I can't use the new tree at all.

Love to all - keep writing
Gerard

Tess - I'm afraid the time frame I talk about is before Census time and I could find no parish records for that period of time.
I'm not sure who sent it to me now as it was a long while ago, but yes, it was a GR member and the ancestors are all English. I just haven't been able to get onto the right records.

I usually get to the point where I am frustrated, so leave it for months - even a year - then pick it up again, and often find that more sites have opened up, or more info is available. Just not so in this instance, though - yet!

Hello everyone, so pleased to see that many of you are still adding comments.
I have been helping two friends with their family tree on another site so not much time to write on here.

Pleased to say that both my OH and I are well and the weather is very good now.
O H gone to UK as his son has had new info about having full care of his Three children so did .he did not make it to the West Ham match although OHs eldest son went over from Amsterdam to see the game so we were represented!!
My stepson has also been told and it has been confirmed in writing that he will get his bungalow back, which his grandma bought him...... We are so relieved.

OH will help him to repair the house and then I think he will sell it and buy something else.....

It is a beautiful day here and I am going to sit in the garden for a while,
So, bye bye for now

Just popping in to 'show the flag'. Nothing new to report except that we had a reminder a few days ago, that winter is on it's way. Had the coldest May day in history. .. Breaking a record didn't make it feel any warmer! Instead of light cardigans - out came the heavier ones and more woollens - and winter doesn't start until Friday!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 29 May 2012 09:18

And we had our hottest May day. How they do love these records. Hope your winter isn't too severe then Berona. Looks like our 'summer' is on the wane. cloudy here today and so far cooler. I don't mind the hot days, in fact I love them, but hate the hot sticky nights. Off out with our friend to a garden centre for coffee this morning.

Woke up this morning at around 4.30. Felt determined that I would try to open my bedroom window once again.
It has remained definantly closed for months now, despite my numerous efforts to open it.
Well, I reckon that the "stay-closed" pests were sleeping at 4.30. I just turned the handle, gave a hard push, and Hey Sesamee! it was open!.

A wonderful cool breeze made its way into the room and made me feel great.
I was so pleased that I went downstairs and took down one of the (long) curtains from the french window. No easy task, this, as I had to stand on a chair and reach up high.
Eventually gor one curtain down, removed the (metal) hooks and put washing in machine on a coolish cycle.
Went back to bed.
After a long rest, i put the curtain on the line, then took down the other curtain. On it is a label saying "Dry Clean Only" oh well, in for a penny, in for a pound, as they used to say.
Second curtain is now in washing machine. After all I want the curtains to match don't I.
Have now got red (called fire), orange and yellow streaks in my hair. My homage to the Olympic Torch.
Should be going into town tomorrow to the college to have my feet done.
Usually feel really pampered after my de-lux pedicure.

Berona, I hope that your winter isn't a harsh one.
I wonder if there is any record breaking temps. in the equitorial areas. Especially as there are in both North and South temperate Zones.

Bridget, wonderful news that your (step)son is getting full care ofhis children and his house back.
Things are now looking up for him, at last. I know it won't be easy, but having full care of his children will be so worthwhile and rewarding. I wish him and the children much joy together.

Hello all. Yes, weather records seem to be getting made all over the world - although there were no records kept of anything in this country prior to 1788, so how do we know if we are really getting 'unusual' weather?

Hope the curtains came out OK.

I am sorry I have not been on here for a few days,
The reason is two fold. My Army son had a close friend killed while on duty in Afghanistan, he was a captain in the Royal Welsh.
Please say a prayer or positive thoughts for all who have " fallen' ,

Bridget my thoughts go to the family and friends of the friend of your son. When will it ever end?

On a happier note, I have read back and am so pleased for your stepson that he is to have his children and his home returned to him. Justice at last.

Bridget - I just came in to extend my condolences to your son and his friends. I hate war (don't we all?).
We have been told here that our boys will be coming home - but not exactly when - and in the meantime, we still occasionally have one or more returned in a coffin. My heart aches for the loss of the young life and what it does to their families.

We are very lx on this thread these days aren't we?

Did those of you in foreign parts see any of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations? In the commonwealth countries or among ex pats were there celebrations?

We watched it all on TV and thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle. Pity about the weather on Sunday, it would have looked so much better if it had been sunny, but that is Britain for you, wet bank holidays are part of our existence.

Hope all are well despite your absence anyway. good to see you Berona. :-)

Berona

Berona Report 7 Jun 2012 02:17

Yes, Ann, we saw it all on TV - both direct and re-played. It brought back a lot of memories to me of being in Piccadilly on Coronation day (all night, actually!), and the atmosphere of the crowds.
There have been varying types of celebrations here. Nothing spectacular in comparison with London, but also many attractions have had a 'jubilee' theme, and even radio stations playing the records which had something to do with it.

Hi Everyone

Well what a time we all have been having in London = Can't go anywhere without seeing Union flags and pictures of the Queen and she is looking so well and healthy, I too remember seeing the Coronation on a Black and white 9" TV screen when I was at primary school (we were the first family in the street to have a television)

I've had several new contacts on GR keeping me busy - one of which got me reconnected with Bridget's family tree - I also had quite a close connection with someone directly related to my Great Aunt Emma!

It is great to read all the news and yes we are getting lax on here, but hey, time flies and before you know it a week has gone.

Must dash now - time to take OH to her work (430 am) - will add some more later

Regards
Gerard :-) <3

Good morning from sunny and warm Peniscola in Spain.
My birthday on the 5th was amazing and such fun. We had 15 people turn up at 18.30hrsand the last six did not leave until around 04hrs on the 6th !!

The weather was very good, the food and drink went very well and we all,Laughed, chatted, discussed and enjoyed the music....I cannot remember how long ago it was that I received 16 birthday cards, all the children telephoned, I chatted to all the grandchildren even if they are to young to talk back.
My stepson took his three children and met up with my army son and his family and they all went to see the magnificent celebrations of our Queen...

My daughter made me cry becauseshewasthe chatted to me for about 15 minutes, something she has not done fora long time..

Yesterday I was completely worn out.......did all the washing it dried in no time and we are all spick and span again.

We are going to shop now, beer on special offer......

Hope you are all well

Bridget now 66 !
