Berona Report 1 Apr 2012 01:35

Where is everyone? Just popped in to bring the thread forward!
Hope you are all well. Perhaps too busy to post at the moment?

Warm with occasional showers here. More like Autumn. We still don't know what happened to Summer. Oh well, at least we didn't have any devastating bush fires on the eastern side of the country this year. Had a few floods, though, in the country areas. The cities are rarely affected by floods - and never by fire. To-day we start back on standard time, so with UK now on daylight savings, we are 9 hours ahead of them, here in the east. I won't go into the time-changes for the rest of our country - a bit too confusing.

Hello and good morning from Spain.
Apologies for not being on here for some days but have a nasty chest infection, which the lady next door has told me that her doctor told her that there are many people in the area with the same infection, including her. I have been on antibiotics for a few days and the coughing is slowly easing off but I am sleepy all the time and hot one moment and shivering the next...felt better yesterday so went for a walk with OH and meet a few friends on the way. I am not a good "patient" a typical ex nurse I can hear you say......

Have sent my passport for renewal only to hear on the news that there is likely to be strikes across Spain re the financial crisis and the 28 % unemployment........I hope my passport is not caught up in this!!

Today the sun is shining and in the last few days all the summer insects have been seen, wasps, bees etc.

The trees have had there annual cut the beds have had new stones added and after Easter the Pool people will be repairing the one light which is not working, replace six of the small tiles on the floor and give the pool a spring clean. We have had the Pool for nearly nine years so it is time for a professional to do these tasks and then OH will be delighted to have his job back.....he really does keep it looking very good.
Time to go now so wishing you all a good day

Hello all, nice sunny morning here but quite cool. Good gardening weather and a load of washing about to go out on the line. Hope my Mum isn't watching 'Washing on a Sunday!!!'.

Some of the spring flowers are fading now, Daffodils etc, theyw ere so early but it is lovely to see the magnolia trees in glorious blossom. so it is half past seveni in the evening with you Berona? Strange wprld we live in isn't it where one third is way ahead and one way behind. I thin the internet brings that to the fore more than newspapers ever did.

Hope you can shake that chest infesction Bridget, it does sound nasty and these things get harder to shake as we get older. Well, just cleaned the kitchen, now I had better go and hang the washing out. :-) :-)

We have had a few days of really warm weather here in the UK. However, temps. have now dropped again (had to put the fire on yesterday). There is a threat of snow in the Scottish Highlands, over the next few days.

Managed to go shopping with the Ring & Ride yesterday, and remembered to take my Debit = Credit cards.
Have even found a 9Greadres) note bokk, yesterday. Of course it had been in full sigth all the time! I had spent rather a long time, over a few days looking for it.

Berona, pleased that you have not been affested by fires or floods. Hope that you have a late summer. (we call it an Indian Summer here, I don't know why.).

Bridget, hope that you are soon on top form again. Hope that the work on your pool goes well.
Are you still plannibg on coming back to the UK? if so, what area of the country.

It seems that all out football teams had a day they would rather forget, yesterday,
Arsnal, West Bromwich Albion and West Ham, all lost! (the teams of Gerarl, myself and Bridget's O.H.)
Other of my family members support, Stoke City, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers, they all lost too!
Still I suppose that all the opposition fans went away happy.

Although cold her, it is dry and sunny, so have got washing on the line.
Was listening to bird song, while pegging the washing out. I feel quite ashamed that I can't recognise a bird by its song. But sounded good anyway.

Hope that everyone has a good day.

By the way, is April 1st a "special day" in other parts of the world?

Only honest answers wanted!

Berona Report 4 Apr 2012 01:21

Tess - April 1st is April Fool's Day here in Oz. However, I understand that it only applies up to noon, when all pranks stop.

I've heard of 'Indian Summer'. It's usually applied to unusual hot weather immediately following winter (early spring) when the temps are much higher than normal.

We had some snow and sleet earlier this morning. It has now stopped, but we are having some (heavy) rain showers and wind.

What a change from last week.

many areas of the country (England, Scotland and Wales) have got snow, some is a few inches deep. They have also got gale force winds.

Not worth putting washing out today!

School children are on Easter holiday, must be difficult for their carers, trying to keep them amused without taking them out!

Yesterday, went shopping with my son. We bought some shelving (self-assembley) to go in the garden shed and/or the attic.

Soon I am going to run out of excuses for my house to be untidy.

Might sort out some more stuff to go to the charity shop, while it is so miserable to go out, and before I put it all on my new shelves.

Anyone want some ornaments???

Hope that you are all well.

Tess.

Well here in London the sun is shining - yesterday was the like a Scottish pop group Wet, Wet, Wet.

I have been busy with my family tree (It is surprising how little people know of their family - one of my contacts doesn't even know his mother's maiden name!) and preparing for Easter. On Passion Sunday at church it was my turn to play the part of Judas - well someone has to. I'm sorry to hear of illnesses and other mishaps - I will continue lighting a candle and saying the prayers

OH isn't feeling herself (she hates being ill - especially as we have a long weekend coming up - unlike most men I just soldier on!!)

My team lost on Saturday as I was reminded by Tess! This week is the crunch match against Manchester City if we win we will stay third if they lose they will be eight points behind the leaders.

My evening work is going fine thank good ness and I have had my first wage slip since forever.

Keep well, warm (cool) and safe and I will check in again soon

Good morning from sunny Spain.
We have had a lot of rain but it stopped on Thursday which was great as the men came to repair the pool. Unfortunately it was not quite as easy as we had hoped but it is essential that it works properly and does not loose water. I hate wasting water when there is so many people in the world who do not have enough.
My eldest son and his family are here for the bank holiday and gave mea good excuse to buy someeaster bunny rabbits made of chocolate...not for me or OH .

It is pleasent weather, the son is warming us,the birds have stooped twittering for a while and everywhere is quiet ....

My cold and throat infection is improving but not quite finished yet, I have had this for 3 weeks now....apparently it is rife acrossSpain and friends for northern Englandhave to.d suit is much the same there,

Have a peaceful and relaxing Easter, enjoy the chocolates, forget dieting for a day or so.

Happy Easter

Hello Bridget, apologies for not having been on here for a while. I hope that you have recovered from your throat problems. My OH is just about getting over a cough that he has had for 8 weeks. It was never bad enough to go to the doctors, just an aggravating tickle. Hope you enjoyed your time with the family and that the pool is in full working order now.

Good morning to all my cyber friends, I remain amazed at how we keep this thred going, I never dreamt that we would get this far.

We had a super Easter, with my son his family. Having a child around is always so pleasing. Leo is only 7 but is already able to converse fluently in Spanis, English and German, now he is trying French because a new boy at his school is French and he likes him!!
Leo is still very much a child and hunted for his Easter Egg and other small Easter gifts, it was hearing warming to see his excitement.
They went home on the Sunday afternoon and were going to look at some more houses and areas to move to...somewhere on the edge of Barcelona....

Our pool is beginning to look good again. But still no water....... All areas have been looked at, cleaned or items replaced where necessary. IWe are now waiting for it all to dry thoroughly and then a final clean, before we start to fill it with water which will take some time...so pleased that it will be ready for my friends from Attleborough in Norfolk arrive in two weeks time.

We bought some plants for our garden yesterday so will be busy cleaning the pots etc this morning, and I also bought a new cover for our bed settee down stairs. It was bought the first year we lived here and has done very well but the covers are part of the settee so cannot be removed..I doo wash and dry them fairly frequently but feel it is time for a new look!

Went ten pin bowling yesterday and got my highest scores so far and came second in our team of 4.....I was really chuffed, I used a slightly heavier ball and that made a big difference.......

The fishing boats have now gone so far away that I cannot hear them, this is an event that I have enjoyed her since day one and sometimes one boat will be rather late back and there is always I moment of relief when this happens.

We are still eating sensibly and surprised that we are still loosing weight, not a lot but every bit helps.....

I wish you all a happy day and look forward to your replies.

Susan, welcome to our thred and I look forward to your entries.......we have great fun, good discussions etc and new ideas are always welcome.

Bridget in sunny Spain

Good morning all
Hope you all had a good Easter. The weather was good here - makes a change Easter over the last few years has been cold and wet. We had a BBQ on Easter Sunday and on the Monday we went a walk by the sea in Denia and then sat outside a bar people watching. A pasttime I find enjoyable.

Last week we went to Aldi were there was a special offer on drawer units. We ended up buying 2 to house all my craftie stuff - I had a real good clear out but still managed to fill up all the drawers. Hubby is pleased as he can now see the desk - I am a very messy card maker !! I also put my summer clothes in the wardrobes and put all the winter clothes away - another good job done. I even moved the bbed, chester of drawers etc. and had a good clean up in our bedroom. I wont tell you how much dust I gathered !!

Hope you are feeling better now Bridget - glad you enjoyed your family visiting over Easter. We had a call last night from some friends who are coming over 10th May for a long weekend - just before we are off to UK to visit my mom - so I will have a busy time - but it will be good to see our friends and they are not hard work.

Well hope you all have a good day

Take care
Love Mary xx

OH did a bit in the garden but it was hit and miss with the showers. They have been coming down fairly regularly and very hard. Still he got some things done in the greenhouse he wanted to do. We have to risk our plants going out this weekend as we go away for 4 weeks , our neighbours look after the house and garden but don't like to leave too much in the greenhouse for them. Fingers crossed we don't get any hard frosts.
