I think I was 47 when it started - spent 2 summers dressed in black -(so as not to show the sweat)!! ~ Been fine for 3 or more years I think! (53 this year)

Hi Nicky, nice to see your name on this thread! Well you never now, it's done well so far and I only started it today! (Well yesterday now.) Think it's going to be a good thread as we've either got the change, had it or will go through it! So we can all help each other out and give support. And boy do i need it at the moment.

Maggie, that's not a bad idea...black is slimming too!! Glad you seem to have come through it. I must be getting it a bit late, I'm 54 in may and I've just started the symptons.

Off to bed now. xxxx☺

Well achy joints, I thought i was just getting arthritic. Thank God for that. my left hip feels like I've smashed it against something hard. As for my chin, my Dads family were all very dark and I'm turning into the bearded lady but have the periods stopped? You bet they haven't. Every 28 days though heavier every other month. I'm 45 this year and my Mum 66 this year. She asked for tweezers the other day and is always underdressed. She had a hysterectomy at 49 'cos of fibroids and for the first ten years she'd get really itchy dry skin about the anniversary of the op. (She only had HRT for a few months)

i can't imagine what my OH is going to do though, he's always moaning about being cold.

I did have a preview of things to come about 5 years ago when I went for about 6 months when I woke up every morning with a pool of sweat in the small of my back. (I lie on my front and nothing wakes me up.)

Well I will be 69 this year and I still get occasional night sweats, albeit they are not too bad. I went through the menopause OK once I started HRT but had to come off it after 10 years when I had benign cysts in my breast. Had no further problems from the menopause though except for weight gain and facial hair. I am fortunate in that I still have a thick head of hair but could do without the potential beard!!

Facial hair? Oh my goodness... I have a Fu Manchu moustache that not even my intensive chemo could fully eradicate... most of it dropped off just as I was about to start another, more intensive course... and it grew back in spite of that chemo..... lol, some of it is even silver!!

I have always been an itchy person, too... although that went for a while after each bout of chemo...... and the achey joints I was told were RA and menopausal... well, they are also symptoms (rare, but relevant in my case) of some types of leukemia/lymphoma.... so please, please don't just assume it is the menopause, make sure you have Full Blood Counts done at least once a year to eliminate any other causes.

Love

Hi Daff thanks for your post and the good advise. Hope you're having a good Good Friday. I'm going for a mammogram in May and my smear test is due and i will mention about having my a blood count done.
Iris i will try to get hold of those tablets, I will be rattling at this rate as Fran suggested soya bean tablets for us women on the 'change'. Or going through a 'queer stage' as my old nan used to say. But so far have not turned gay!!!! And I bloody hope that's not one of the side effects! ha ha! No a lake in the back aint a good look Janet!! Ann I really hope to avoid HRT but you never know.

We will all have to have MOT's at this rate every year and have certiificates saying we have passed muster lol.

I think I will come back as a bloke next time please - so much less hassle - just shaving everyday - what a chore eh! lol

I must say I slept better last night, went for a tiddle at about 4.30am, what's that all about too, I never used to get up for a wee every night and I'm not drinking anymore. So atleast I've had a better sleep as I'm doing a night shift tonight. That's why I don't mind covering nights on a relief basis as I don't sleep so good. My face will look like corned beef tomorrow morning when I leave off!

Daff and her tach lol.I didn't realise it was a Fu Manchu !!!!! Maybe we should have a competition .There seem to be plenty of us with chin and tach trouble.
I found some capsules called Floresse at tesco .Have taken them for a month and I do think they may be having a positive effect...unless of course it's all in the mind .

The bags under my eyes are now becoming holdalls! My bathroom is downstairs too - its killing me achy joints! Oh Dear Lord please tell me it dont get any worse!

At least I could do the menopause discretely, unlike the unwanted intrusions that went with puberty.

My periods ended up appearing on religious festivals and holidays like some kind of celebration and I had a grand finale for the Queen Mother's funeral.

Oh I'm so glad you girls are on here, i've not giggled for a while and it's doing me good!
Tina, why don't you get an old fashioned pot for under the bed...failing that a commode! I'm having so much trouble with the old water works as well, every time I cough or sneeze I either fart or wet myself...usually both.....! It's the first place I look for when I go out ...the loos!

Another load of pills to add to the collection Helen. Fran i won't give up on the soya bean ones.

Sharron, loved the Grand Finale for the Queen mum!!
