I have two or three possibilities for my GGGrand Mothers marrage to Uriah Mcgee. Is there any way of accessing these certificates without actually purchacing each and then finding out that neither is the right one.

You don't say what year(s) these marriages happened, but have you found the happy couple in any of the censuses? Or is it too early for that?

There are trees on Rootsweb with Uriah McGee married to Lucy Vincent but the childrens' surnames are Willoughby. Children both died in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

There's a death in Oshawa of Jobe Willoughby born 1860, Engand and died 28 July 1922, Oshawa. Parents names given as Uriah Willoughby & Lucy McGee. He was married, wife was Lucy Willoughby.

This looks like Job's birth as McGee.

Just realized, David, that one of the trees on Rootsweb is probably yours, so we're not telling you anything you don't already know. I'm intrigued though that you say that there are two or three possibilities for the marriage. I can't find anything remotely possible.

George Henry, 21 Sept 1856. is my ggrand father. On his marrage certificate, 21 Nov 1881, is a note in the right hand columb, "The late Uriah McGee". This is the original certificate not the copy. George is now signing his name as Willoughby and other members of the family are doing the same. In the 1881 cencus George could not be found but when a search was done on the McGees there he was with the rest of the family.
Uriah left Lucy at some time and came to Canada. the ship he was to be on sank and all hands were lost, but he was not on the ship but another. At some time Lucy hitched up with George Willoughby, so the story goes. thus the name change i assume.
Uriah returned to England and he and Lucy got together again, I assume.Uriah died 11Dec 1897, Erith, Kent England. Lucy died 30 Aug 1892, East Plumstead Kent Eng. They could have been married 2nd Q 1846, Poplar, vol 2 page 325. or 4th Q 1847, Lambeth, vol IV page 290.
What does the 1871 Cencus have on Uriah and the family, if it is possible to find out.

Having problems finding the family in 1851 and 1841. Seeing as Edward was born in 1844 they could have married before civil registration.

Is it Vincent or Vinson as you have on Ancestry?
