Albert Edward Breed 18 Sep 1884-10 Jun 1956 m Marie Louisa Digby in 1907 Edmonton Reg.

At some point between 1911 & 1914 they separated. Albert took up with Annie Ethel Brown & Marie with William Frederick Parsons.

On his enlistment papers in 1915, ( edit - they were dated 1917, He had no idea where Marie lived) he names the following children all born Tottenham, which usually comes under Edmonton.

Dorah 9 Feb 1905
Frank William 5 Jan 1906 [mmn Digby]
Winifred 17 Oct 1908
George 3 May 1912
Ada (Maud) 22 Apr 1914 [mmn Brown]
Albert (James) 24 May 1916 [mmn Brown]

As Dorah & Winifred where born while he was still living with Marie, its conceivable that they were the biological children of Annie Ethel Brown & another male.

Albert sometimes used his stepfathers name of Armstrong, hence the brackets. His siblings had been known to double barrel the surnames.

Can someone sort out the births of Dora, Winifred & George please??

Trying to find Annie Ethel 's YOB, to try to find her in 1911 -

Here's Albert in 1939 - image says 1884.
Is this yet another partner, or is Alice really Annie Ethel?

Dorah is definitely Dorah on the army record - although Ancestry transcribes it as Sarah.

It’s a bit of a mess, isn’t it?

I’m wondering if Ada & Albert are actually Hudson’s rather than Breed as I’d assumed. The military record is dated 1917 rather the. 1915.

Name: Albert J Hudson
Registration Date: 1916
Registration district: Edmonton
Inferred County: Essex
Re-registration Year: 1916
Mother's Maiden Name: Brown
Volume Number: 3a
Page Number: 1249

Talk about going round in circles!

Where have you got Annie Ethel's name from, please?

She's not mentioned on Albert's army record, and doesn't appear to be with him in 1939.
Does his death cert give her name? If so, they couldn't have been together until after 1939 ??

EDIT:
No, of course it will be from one of the children's birth certs.

Re George E R Hudson -

This will be his parents' marriage:

Brown Annie Hudson Edmonton 3a 695
Hudson Edward R Brown Edmonton 3a 695

Is this the same Annie ?

In 1939 there's an Albert J Brown (24/05/1916) living with George E R Hudson.

Same DOB as on Albert senior's army record.

After checking back, the source seems to have been from someone originally on Ancestry. We did correspond.

Although we all make mistakes, I'm relatively confident that she didn't get her wires crossed.

Thank you, thank you, Argyllgran. That certainly seems to 'fit'.
Assuming husband no 1 died fairly soon after Arthur's conception, Albert Breed was quite quick to gain her affections.

ArgyllGran Report 11 Sep 2018 18:29

(Have just updated my last post to point out that Albert J Brown's DOB is the same as Albert James Breed's on Albert Breed's army record - ie - Albert J Brown with George E R Hudson in 1939.)

Oh well done. Thank you so much. He was either greedy or very generous to claim dependents allowance for so many non blood related children.

Any chance of working out who Alice Breed 12/11/1891 is from the 1939 please?
From memory, the best fit for Annie Ethel Brown was about 1884, West Ham.
