Christening Place SUTTON, CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND
Father's Name William Farby
Mother's Name Elizabeth

Looking at this baptism posted by Maddie earlier in the thread, I note that on the 1841 census there is an Elizabeth aged 65 and (daughter?) Elizabeth aged 25 just 2 households up the page from William and family. - It looks like they are at the same address.

Could this be his mother and sister ??? - Maybe that William who drowned in 1831 ( mentioned earlier also) could have been his father? His birth year was c1779.

Thanks everyone, interesting snippet from Chris. May try & find out more about that.

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 18 Apr 2016 21:34

was Sarah possibly Mary Stoten's child before marriage to William Farby?

no luck finding records as Stoten or Staughton or variations, but it's a possibility

(below snippet probably relates!)

23 November 1850 - Cambridge Independent Press - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

ISLE OF ELY
Witcham
The Late Fire - The servant girl Sarah Farby, who has been several times brought before the Magistrates, and remanded by them for further examination, on suspicion of setting fire to M. Poole's premises, was again on Thursday last brought before the Magistrate's, and for want of sufficient evidence against her, she was discharged.

Thankyou all very much everybody, would have been nice to have found Sarah on 1841 census to see all her family but think I have enough info now to work it all out. You lot are amazing.

Mary, the 1825 birth to William and Ann, will be the Mary Faber who married Allen Randell, whom our Sarah is visiting in 1851

maybe you could confirm that Hilary? - that the 1851 Mary Randal is Sarah's sister?

Hilary

Hilary Report 18 Apr 2016 16:30

Just had another look on Free Reg & it looks likely Sarah's parents were William & Ann, also looks like there are another 2 children to this couple. Mary Farby born 1825 Sutton, could be the Mary Faber from above, & Thomas Farby born 1827 Sutton.

Ancestry lists one 1841 household thus

County/Island: Cambridgeshire
Country: England
Registration district: Ely
Sub-registration district: Sutton

William Forbay 4 >> obviously not since he is head of household and an ag lab
William Forbay 9
Mary Forbay 25
Mary Forbay 15
Joseph Farbay 12
Thomas Farbay 3
John Farbay 1

I read it as Farbay/Farbey

there is no Sarah present but there is a large gap between Joseph and Thomas

could have been a Sarah who was staying with other family

guys do we have to have all the extraneous info copied from census records about sources and all, that just clutters things up?
