Please can anybody help me locate a marriage. The details are as below:-

William Lock born approx 1808 in Pulham Norfolk

and

Mary Ann Wright born approx 1813 in High Wycombe

Their son Joseph William was born in 1843 in High Wycombe so I presume they got married in that area.

Additionally if anybody can trace William or Mary's births I would be very grateful as I seem to be hitting walls with them also.

Thanks

Julie

Kath I don't believe that is the marriage as they seem to have stayed around High Wycombe - unfortunately I cant see a marriage there :(

Julie Report 8 Apr 2016 17:06

Malyon that is the correct son - just need to find parents records now. It could well be her death though

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 8 Apr 2016 17:34

If that's her death that Malyon put up at 8 Apr 2016 16:39, then she never married William Lock.

Julie

Julie Report 8 Apr 2016 22:58

Yes your correct Austin - not thinking straight she would be Lock

Perhaps you could email Ken Lock:

William Lock bc1809 (or c1808, or c1811?) in Pulham (S of Norwich),assumed to William Lock bc1777 and Elizabeth Tumner. This William shown in the Westminster St Margaret, Middlesex 1851 census (aged 42i.e. bc1809), a bricklayer, living with his younger wife (aged 34) Mary Abc1817 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire and son (aged 7) Joseph Lock bc1844 in High Wycombe. Also shown in the Lambeth St Mary 1861census (aged 53 i.e. bc1808), a bricklayer, living with his wife (aged 48) Mary Ann bc1813 and son (aged 18) Joseph W Lock bc1843, a collector, both in Wycombe, Bucks (not born in Sussex, as recorded). OK, was wondering why I couldn't find a death for Mary Ann after the 1871 census in Lambeth- it was because she married (which is helpful, as now you have her father's name :-D )

Thank you so much for this Austin. I wonder why she is down as Lock on the census?

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 9 Apr 2016 11:07

She lived as William's wife and therefore assumed his name. It was only when she "remarried" that she reverted to Wright and spinsterhood. Maybe telling an untruth in Church worried her
