A tree on ancestry has a marriage for Ellis Martin and Eliza Davies in Ellesmere Port, April 1874. It is not substantiated.

He married Mary in 1874 so this tree seems to be wildly inaccurate.

I can't find a marriage for them.

1901 And 1911 Census with Charles Parker are both correct.
The William Fox death is correct. think I will buy the marriage cert for her marriage to William and see if she is a widow no firm fact but might be interesting.
On my Grandfather's birth cert it say's mother late Fox , previously Martin, formally Phillips. Which brings me to thinking she may have divorced Ellis.

Mary Martin update-- I now have the Marriage Certificate
Married on 6th April 1889 entry No 125
William Fox age 65 Widower Blacksmith
Mary Martin age 36 - the condition and profession are both blank.
In a margin on the right hand side is written the following.
In entry No 125 after the Woman' s name head "Widow" corrected on the 15th January 1980, by me Charles Lee Cartwright registrar in the presence of R Jones superintendent registrar
Can anyone make any sense of this as I bought the cert to try and find out if she was divorced as at this time it was very rare. even more confused now
