I think some of Mia's information on the Warings skips a generation.

From the information found above I get that

Edith Waring born March 1st 1904, baptised 3rd April 1904 Birkenhead -parents were Thomas George Waring and Mary Jane Hanley.

Edith's baptism states born 1st March 1904- this fits with her death:

name(s) EDITH STANLEY
Gender Female
Birth day 1st March 1904
Death quarter 3
Death year 1985
District BIRKENHEAD
Register number 985
County Cheshire
Volume 37 Page 661

Edith's Parents, Thomas George Waring and Mary Jane Hanley married in 1895. On the marriage certificate Thomas listed his father as Matthius Waring.

Thomas George Waring (1872- 1953), was the son of Matthius Waring and Johanna Hanlin (they married 1872 Liverpool).

Two notes abt this set of local indexes - it is indexed by year of birth, not qarter of registration. One has 6 wks to rego a birth, so it's not unusual for a birth to be rego'ed in the next quarter, which would be another year for a late Dec birth (which was probably the case for George).
Secondly, one sometimes needs to match up the GRO index with the local index.
Here we have an example - we want the Birkenhead Florrie

Cheshire Birth indexes for the years: 1900
Surname Forename(s) Sub-District Registers At Mother's Maiden Name Reference
WARING Florence Birkenhead Wirral BIR/204/96
WARING Florence Tranmere Wirral TRA/76/36

But the GRO just shows 2 Birkenhead rego's in difft quarters which is ours?
On FreeBMD, one can click on the page link to see other names indexed to the same GRO page - here I've just included one of the 10, and I've appended the ChesBMD ref to it:
Births Mar 1900 (>99%)
Oxton Nora Lee Birkenhead 8a 542 TRA/76/38
Waring Florence Birkenhead 8a 542

Births Jun 1900 (>99%)
O'Hare Agnes Birkenhead 8a 528 BIR/204/95
WARING Florence Birkenhead 8a 528

The local ref typically has 3 elemnts:
1) a code identifying the subdistrict ehere the rego took place for Bs & Ds, or the set of rego's containing the marr (typically a church code);
2) a register sequence # within the above set;
3) an entry #, or a page # within that rego - Bs, Ds & church marrs have 500 entries the registrar's marr rego often has 200 entries.
Local rego's allways have 5 entries per page for Bs & Ds, and 2 entries per page for Ms.
Since none of the 8 Waring-Hanley Bs has a last element exceeding 100, it looks like the last element is a page # in this subdistrict.
Entry #s on the same GRO page can differ by 10 at this time, and these can occupy parts of 3 adjacent local pages, as happens in our Tranmere example.

Usually, an entry # is used for marrs, so one knows who wed whom.
However, even when only a page # is given, it can be useful to look it up, e.g.:

(Using another site gatewayed via http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/local_bmd )
North Wales Marriage indexes for the years: 1874
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
WYNN Thomas Match Possible Spouses Wrexham, Civil Marriage Wrexham County Borough (Wrexham) WM/016/78
EDWARDS Catherine WM/016/78
JONES John WM/016/78
ROBERTS Elizabeth WM/016/78

Here's a couple of adjacent pages from the GRO index:

Marriages Mar 1874 (>99%)
JONES Catherine Wrexham 11b 419
Jones William Wrexham 11b 419
>>Roberts Elizabeth Wrexham 11b 419
>>WYNN Thomas Wrexham 11b 419
------------------
>>Edwards Catherine Wrexham 11b 418
Hanmer Georgina Wrexham 11b 418
>>Jones John Wrexham 11b 418
WALLACE William Wrexham 11b 418

We see the local and GRO pages are misaligned here - which can happen if the total number of marrs in the registrar's own rego in previous quarters was an odd number.
So the misalignment sorts out the two pairs of spouses, and Thomas Wynn wed Elizabeth Roberts - Eliz could be a widow, so Roberts might not be her maiden surname.
